Re: Week 2 Check-in 12/26

  • Due date: 3/16

Any appointments? Questions?: 30 minutes until my appointment

Rants/Raves?: Rant: DH could have tried more in the Christmas presents category (especially that he only had to buy for me and I had to care for everyone else including his extended family!). I got: 1 ugly calendar titled World Traveler, a weird small kit for refreshing myself after a plane trip (2 masks, 2 wipes) and some bags to keep stuff organized in the luggage. I have no idea why he thought that would make a good present, especially since I DON'T plan to travel in the next 1-1.5 years!

How are you feeling?: Big! I look at all the HDBD pics and I think my belly looks more prominent than all of them! But DS2 was right on track at my last appointment, so go figure.
Also, a Christmas miracle happened because my heartburn stopped! Going on 4 days pain-free and calcium-carbonate free!

GTKY: What was your favorite gift you received this year? Well, I only got presents from DH (see my rant) and a jewelry set from MIL, so I'll go with "the smile on DS1's face when he saw and opened all his presents"

  • @mihaelams1 hope you’re appointment went well and I feel you on feeling super big! I was looking at a picture from DS’s pregnancy and I currently look more like where I was at 8 months last time!

    Due date: 3/12

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is 1/8, so hopefully i can get my Christmas weight gain back under control before then! 😳

Rants/Raves?: I passed my 3-hour GD rest, but was just under the limit on the 1 hour draw so I’m theoretically trying to be better about what I’m eating. Only my house is currently chock full of sweets and my self control sucks... so I’ve been failing at laying off the sugar. I really need to get it under control!

How are you feeling?: I’m feeling big and l a little compressed. Went for a longer walk yesterday and my lower back and pelvis are super achy today (which means I’m skipping a much needed walk today).

GTKY: What was your favorite gift you received this year? Probably my new “robot” vacuum! It’s not going to eliminate the need to vacuum, but sure will help keep things cleaner, especially once lo #2 is here!

  • Due date: 3/12

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is 1/3! I have to remember to ask if my ob can tell which way baby is sitting ;)

Rants/Raves?: One more day of work tomorrow, I'm ready for a break! Had to work in the hospital since 12/21

How are you feeling?: Starting to feel exhausted and having a lot more groin/lower pelvic pain more often. Talked to OB about it at our last visit who recommended kinesio tape but I haven't gotten around to buying some to try it out

GTKY: What was your favorite gift you received this year? My husband got me a watch me grow photography package with a local photographer that includes maternity, newborn, and 3/6/9/12 month pictures 😍😍

  • @smf2018 That's an awesome gift!

@lelkcot I'd been really good about making healthy choices but over the past week I've thrown that out the window. The holidays are such a hard time to eat right. I'll be back on track next week though! (hopefully)

    Due date: 3/10

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is 1/2

Rants/Raves?:  DS got pinkeye and gave it to me, so I've been cranky about that. Of course it was over the weekend and holiday so I ended up at urgent care two days in a row, including Christmas Eve.  Not the way I wanted the holidays to go, but what can you do?

How are you feeling?: Tired. But other than that, pretty good.  Some minor backaches if I stand too long and this kid loves to stretch up into my ribs which isn't pleasant.

GTKY: What was your favorite gift you received this year?

DH got me Journal 29 which is a puzzle solving book. Kind of like an escape room in a book?  We did a few pages together last night and it was pretty fun.

  • Due date: 3-16

Appts/Questions: had my 28 check up on wed. My fundal height measured at 30 weeks, I'll be 29 tomorrow. Had a growth scan on Thursday, where the tech I had was training. After she did the measurements, lo measured 7th percentile. We freaked out a little to the point where I was in tears. The other tech retook the measurements, where lo measured at 15th percentile. The poor new girl was in tears. I believe I'll only have one more growth scan for this lo.

Rants/Raves: Rave: lo is head down and sitting low like I thought. Let's hope lo stays that way. besides that and my appt the week was uneventful for the most part. It was nice to spend Christmas with family as we couldn't last year.

How are you feeling? Tired, pregnant, sick. I don't feel big, but my back is telling me otherwise. Also, I've had two contractions I believe. One two weeks ago and one yesterday. Anyone else in this check-in having them?

GTKY: my mom got me a onesie for the lo that was my favorite.

Appts/Questions: had my 29/30 week appt this morning with my regular doc (the one who delivered my other DDs). Spoke to her about the difference in movement from my last pregnancy and she was much more reassuring and told me not to worry, that she remembers DD2 as being SUPER active and that this LO is probably just doing her own thing. She made me feel a lot better!

Rants/Raves: yesterday we went out with my in laws and DD1 poured half of a salt shaker on the table. When I took the shaker away and told her if she did it again I'd take her home, my MiL told me not to yell at her. It took all of my energy not to yell at my MiL.

Other than in law craziness, things are good!

How are you feeling? Large. Tired. But I'm getting a pedicure and massage today so no complaints.

GTKY: this is super boring but I'm most excited about/thankful for the cash we got this year. Paying two mortgages SUCKS and the money really helps!
  • Due: 3/11

    Appts: next one is 1/3.

    Rants/raves:
Rant-we spent a few days with MIL for the holidays and there were several awkward questions about when/if/how long we want her to visit after delivery (we have already told her very directly & several times that we are not hosting visitors until the summer, period).
Rave-We went to Santa Fe for Xmas and it was beautiful! DH and I had a great time relaxing, eating delicious food & wandering around town. It snowed while we were there which was charming AF. :)

How are you feeling: overall, very good! Recently I get very tired and even a little lightheaded if I try to do anything remotely active right after breakfast though which is weird. I’ve started getting up, eating and lying back down for a bit which feels pretty lazy but I’m trying to be kind to myself.
I’ve also been noticing BH contractions pretty regularly, at least several times a week. They tend to be strongest in the afternoon/evening or (tmi) if I have to pee and don’t go right away. It’s pretty inconvenient and seems to always hit me while I’m grocery shopping but I don’t want abandon my cart or run to the opposite corner of the store. SO annoying because the only thing that seems to help them go away is drinking lots of water...which makes me have to pee 1000 times over the next few hrs...lather rinse repeat.

GTKY: My favorite gift is the one DH and I gave to our house! We had a fireplace insert installed (like a wood burning stove that goes inside the existing fireplace). We live in the mountains and have elec baseboard heat so this is a MAJOR upgrade! We are able to heat our whole house just by keeping the fire going now. It’s super cozy and will also save us $$$ on heating bills so...Merry Christmas to us! Probably sounds super boring, but this is our 1st house so any improvements we make are super exciting to us. :)
  • @hlmtnmama my BHs follow the same pattern: mostly in the evening and when I'm too lazy to get my a$$ off the couch to go to the restroom
Also, congrats on the fireplace insert! We have one in the family room, and it was great during the power outage 1 week ago. We also have a second fireplace in the living room, but we've never used it since it's just bare-bones. An insert would be nice there as well. As for the electric baseboard heaters - they are veeeeery hard to child-proof. Good luck! Our previous house had them and we're so happy we sold it!
