Donor Egg Bank Reviews

Hi there. I've been poking around The Bump for awhile now, but haven't ever posted. My husband and I are at the point in our IF journey where we are exploring the use of donor eggs. We're leaning towards the use of frozen donor eggs for ease of scheduling. Has anyone here purchased a lot of frozen eggs from a donor egg bank (we're currently looking at World Egg Bank, California Cryobank and Fairfax Egg Bank)? What was your experience (positive or negative)? Anything you wish you had known before starting the DE process? Thanks so much!

Re: Donor Egg Bank Reviews

  • Hi @avocado4one The boards are a little bit quiet over the weekend, but there is a thread specifically for discussion about donor eggs where maybe you can see if other ladies mention these places. Donor Egg thread
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

  • @avocado4one Hi - Love your screen name. Definitely check out the thread Suzy mentioned, it has some discussion on banks and choosing frozen over fresh. My experience quickly summed up is that after a long struggle with recurrent pregnancy loss and my own eggs, we decided to use Donor Eggs and went with My Egg Bank. We chose frozen eggs due to a few different factors: timing efficiency, fewer potential complications, our clinic was a technical affiliate of the bank (which meant the embryologists were trained in the preferred thawing technique), known quantity of eggs in each lot, and cost factors. Lots to consider, but grateful there are so many options for us.

Hope you'll join us in the DE thread.... best of luck moving forward!

  • Thanks @suzycupcake and @fivetimesnoluck - appreciate the reply! I'll be sure to check out the donor egg thread.
  • @avocado4one I should add that my experience was wholly positive with My Egg Bank. They had a fairly large donor pool, their team answered several questions for me as we worked to select our donor, and once we made that decision, it moved along quite quickly. I appreciated the fact that we had the ability to purchase more eggs (a lot is either 6 or 8), shipment was easy to manage, and our thaw & fertilization went as well as it could have.

  • We used a first time donor from Fairfax. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant from the first transfer. We had seven eggs to start, transferred 1 embryo and froze two. The others weren’t good quality but that’s normal. A lot of the success has to do with your fertility clinics lab from what I understand. Good luck!
