Weekend Randoms 12/22

Its the weekend before the big holiday break for most people. What’s on your mind?

Re: Weekend Randoms 12/22

  • My in-laws arrive today and may house is not clean enough for their standards. I still need to wrap Christmas presents and I need to make a bunch of cookies before Xmas eve. I have no idea how I’m going to get it all done. And we have to go to my husband’s grandad’s tomorrow which I’m really not looking forward to at this point. He divorced my husbands grandmother a long time ago and then started a replacement family who he seems to care more about. I’m not even related to him. Ugh

  • @wearyfuzzball yes there are a ton of options. I wrote down a bunch of stuff from our STM thread about what people actually used. My bro and SIL have also been helpful to explain what they used and didn’t use. You have lots of time to shop though!
  • My sister told me to register for EVERYTHING, no matter how expensive it is. (Maybe was mentioned here too? Honestly don't remember.) Sometimes people will surprise you on a group gift, and whatever isn't gifted to you from your registry, you generally get a discount to buy yourself. 15% or whatever off of a $450 stroller? Yes please.

I'm heading to Walmart. Forgot one thing for a family Christmas party tonight. Now accepting all thoughts and prayers...
  • @chrssyms I've been sifting through our STM thread and others to write down some ideas too. But most everything I've decided I need to go and play with (I'm a hands on person)

@ki1244 We found that out with our wedding registry. We had quite a few people reach out and tell us we didn't have enough pricey things for them to buy. But I would probably add the expensive things anyways, just for that discount 😂
  • I created an amazon registry for all of our kids even though I only had a shower for our first for that exact reason (just kept the last 2 private). And amazon is very liberal with what you can add to the registry and qualifies for your 20% off coupon. Furniture, household items and other essentials not baby related all were fair game. Just make sure you add them to the registry list. Plus they send you a cool box of little things once you use it, most of it is useless but the bottles, Muslin swaddler, and pacifiers where awesome.
  • Oh goodness, even as a STM doing the baby shopping seems daunting...
  • I'm on hour 9 of a 12 hour drive and after me driving for not even 2 hours of my turn my husband made me quit driving because I was so irritable lol

I have no idea what's wrong with me today but everything anyone does just irks me so much. I can't wait to get to my mom's and relax.
  • @messymyranda We are also still in the car and I am also very irritable. But honestly, I get irritable any time I'm in a car for this long. 😂 Fingers crossed we both make it through our trips with our sanity.
  • Jeez I’m sorry you guys have had such long car rides! Hopefully by now you’ve made it to your destinations.

I think at this point I have put a handful of things on our registry. I put a dock-a-tot, a rock and play, a stroller/car seat, and high chair on the registry. My FIL is building our crib. We will need a dresser/changing table but I think we might get that from a local Amish furniture maker, so not easy to put on the registry. I think we’ll need to add some onesies though. My parents want to get us a glider, so I probably won’t put that on the registry, we’ll just pick it out. There’s probably some other things I’m missing...

So excited though! We bought a new dining room table and chairs! This is like our first real nice dining table. It’s our Christmas present for this year. I love it, it’s so beautiful!
  • We alternate families every year at holiday time. Mine is 10+ hours away(5 accidents made it over 12 today) to the south for Christmas and his is 7 hours to the north for Hanukkah/Christmas mix. They're Jewish but his mom loves Christmas trees and decorations so they do that too.

While I prefer the warmer weather down here the shorter car ride north is better.
  • DS has pink eye ugh. I took him yesterday and now am supposed to do eye drops three times a day for a week.  I tried the way they suggested which is have him lay down, close his eyes, then open them as i gently roll his head to the side to get the drop in.  Yea he won't open his eyes.  Cried and freaked out and I don't even know if the drops went in ugh.
  • Driving today the digital road sign said: "only Rudolph should drive lit" hohoho +1 sign person 😆😂🤣

  • We just got done making 200+ raviolis!!! In my family we eat raviolis on Christmas Day. If we were good Italians we would also have ham or turkey but that’s too much food for us, lol.
  • I just woke up from the most horrific dream *TW* it was a miscarriage dream and everything about it felt so real down to every detail. I’ve never felt so shaken. I immediately dopplered this morning and found my little guy so now I can breathe easy but I’m still really shaken up *end TW*

we take off this morning for upstate NY with my husbands family so here’s hoping for an easy day of travel (we’re flying out of and into small airports so should be ok) I can breathe a little easier being around the family for the first time since announcing after finding LO on the Doppler this AM. I hope you all have such a wonderful holiday break and eat lots of delicious food.
  • @cricket1688 My family is also from "upstate" (western) NY! Rochester area.
  • Ugh last night I ended up at the urgent clinic (at least not the ER) and found out I have a UTI. Is really like to just not have this stuff keep happening. Hopefully now it’ll just go away and I’ll be okay. No idea how I ended up with one!
  • @chrssyms being pregnant puts you at much higher risk for them. When I was in the ER for stomach flu last week they also informed me I had one.

@cricket1688im so sorry about the nightmare but I'm glad you could find your LO with the Doppler!! Hope you have a great trip .
  • @wearyfuzzball we’re Sacandaga if that sounds familiar at all. Not far from Saratoga. @dntstpbelieveing thank you! Have a merry xmas.
  • @chrssyms Sorry you're dealing with that - at least they found it and can treat you!

@cricket1688 Scanadaga does not sound familiar, but I know where Saratoga is! Enjoy!
  • @dntstpbelieveing and @wearyfuzzball thanks! Yeah I think I did catch it really early. Just frustrating and is not something I feel like additionally dealing with.
