Re: Week 4 Check-In w/o 12/18

  • EDD 4/26, 21+4

    No appointments again until 1/11!

Rant: little man has had a couple of quieter days and while I remember it with DD, how she’d have days of being super active mixed with days of quiet, it still drives me nuts.

Rave: looking forward to Christmas and spending time with family. Having free babysitters for DD so DH and I can get out and do some fun stuff. I’ve also finished my Christmas shopping and just need to wrap!

Feeling: Am just feeling way more exhausted than I’d like, even though I’ve been sleeping better this week. It’s hard to stay on top of things. Also the exhaustion that goes with feeling like I’m always out of breath is annoying.

GTKY: I haven’t watched a ton of tv, but I loved the seasons of the Great British Baking Show on Netflix this year.

And I didn’t read many books this year that really knocked my socks off. My favorite though was Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mendel.

  • Due date: April 21-22

Any appointments?  Not until Jan 2. I have them every two weeks after that though, Questions? Anyone else pop into the high risk monitoring due to their bloodwork? Everything is fine with baby but my papp-A hormone is low (barely) and that makes me move into an extra visits life for the remainder of my pregnancy, checking for high blood pressure and restricted uterine growth  so far everything is top notch.

Rants/Raves? Flying to MN from NY tomorrow leaving at 4am  why are flights always terrible. Yuck. Then we get a week with the in-laws (looking forward to) and fly home to CA after Christmas  🎄

How are you feeling? Easily tired and my back gets twinges if I do much  currently baby is probably standing up and relaxing over and over  that’s sortof fun.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018?

Ok, well, books have been mostly toddler books recently but I re-read farewell to manzar which is good, this summer. It’s a book I read in middle school but historically valuable. Tv I am enjoying several shows, I do like this is us and I like modern family and I am rewatching er for the 3 time as it is on. I need to find a couple shows to rotate through for when I’m up nursing baby the first few months during the night. (I plan on partially cosleeping as soon as baby feels big enough to handle that.)

  • Due date: 4/26

    Any appointments? Questions? 1/9

Rants/Raves? I can’t find any decent Christmas movies I want to watch!  We don’t have tv just Netflix and Hulu. I miss some of my favorites.

How are you feeling? Ok but still tired all the time

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018? I tired reading To all the Boys I Loved Before but ran out of time and had to return it to the library. So far I’m loving the new Sabrina. And can’t wait for more. And for and easy comedy Great News and the Good Place.

  • Due date: 4/26

    Any appointments? Questions? 12/27

Rants/Raves? This holiday really snuck up on me this year. I don’t have many plans, but the ones I do have are falling behind lol.

How are you feeling? Some back pain kicked in in earnest this week- even ended up having a urine screen for a uti (I don’t get them often, but when I do it’s weird symptoms). It’s not that, so now DH is on massage duty to get rid of the huge muscle knots that have showed up.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018? I really liked Bad Blood, which was about the ‘blood testing’ company Theranos and Liz Holmes. I also caught up on Mr. Robot, which I really enjoyed.
  • Due date: 4/26

Any appointments? Questions? Next one is Jan 3th and then a growth scan on  Jan 31st

Rants/Raves?  Super looking forward to next week. We have the week off and I plan to paint the babies room and bathroom and start organizing the nursery.

How are you feeling? I have been EXTRA tired this week. Getting over a cold.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018? HMM well I read ALL of the shadow hunter series 12 books total this year. I loved Altered Carbon (netflix), Castle Rock (Hulu) and haunting of house hill (Netflix)

  • Due date: 4/27; 21w4d

Any appointments? Questions? Had a routine blood draw at my endocrinologist this morning. Don’t see my OB again until 1/2/19.

Rants/Raves? I’m tired of everyone telling me to “get my sleep now”. I haven’t slept soundly since August, between all the middle of the night bathroom trips and more recently having a hard time getting comfortable. On the upside, only two more days of work and then I’m off through New Year’s! I intend to catch up on naps while visiting the in-laws for Christmas!!

How are you feeling? Exhausted. And achy in my lower back/hips. My ribs/sternum have ached off and on for the past week and a half — I guess this is my uterus expanding? But mostly just exhausted.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018? I really enjoyed Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. Sort of a parallel universe story about runaway slaves in the 1860s South. Dark, but very, very good.

  • @llamamamanyc: I hate it when people say that, because pregnancy is hard enough already without adding the burden of the idea that life will only get worse, basically forever! If it's any consolation I honestly *preferred* the lack of sleep I had with a newborn over the lack late in pregnancy, because at least what sleep I did get was comfortable and heavy.

Appointment: Anatomy scan tomorrow. I just want good news and to be done! My last appointment was the only uneventful one so far, and I'm thinking 2 in a row would do a lot for my peace of mind.

Rant/rave: I just spent 4 hours cleaning the house and it's still nowhere near done! Agh. On the up side, I just got 108 cookies in a cookie exchange and they are all SO FANCY and tasty!

How are you feeling?: The best I've been all pregnancy. I love feeling LO move, and that also I can still put pants on easily. These are gonna be a good couple of weeks!

GTKY: On TV, probably The Crown, season 1. Bookwise, I really enjoyed Morality Play by Barry Unsworth.
  • Due date: 4/21

    Any appointments? Questions? 1/11

    Rants/Raves?

I fell at work spraining my ankle during our annual safety meeting. Painful but hilarious. Spent the rest of the day at the doctor's office and I can't go back to work until I'm cleared.

    How are you feeling?

Back hurts, still struggling with depression but DH said it was ok to put in my two weeks notice.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018?

I don't have any shows I like to watch and even though I read a lot no books stand out to name off.

  • @TheSouffleGirl Right?! I can’t tell if people think they’re being funny, or helpful, or just clueless. Good luck with your anatomy scan tomorrow!! 😊
  • Due date: 4/27

Any appointments? Questions? Not until January but I did make my appointment for February at the same time.  After that it’s every 2 weeks.  My mid-wife mentioned my February appointment would also be when I went for my glucose screening.  Blah.  Not looking forward to it.

Rants/Raves?  I have been on vacation this week and got so much stuff done.  On the flip side my bridesmaid dress for SIL’s wedding barely fits.  My boobs are so big from this pregnancy!  I brought it to the tailor this morning to see if it could be taken out any.  She said maybe 1/2-3/4 inches which I’m hoping will be enough to get me to mid-January.  Fingers crossed.

How are you feeling?  Great overall.  I can’t really complain compared to my last 2 pregnancies.  I have heartburn that pops up about once a day.  I take a Tums and it works so I carry a bottle around with me at all times just in case.  Sleeping is getting a little uncomfortable but I’m ok.  I do wish this kid (still Team Green!) would move from my right side though.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018?  I love the Handmaid’s Tale and can’t wait for the next season!  Also the Crown.  As for books I love Jodi Picoult so I’m trying to catch up on her series.

  • @kateriee:  OMG, that's hilarious!  But I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling.  Pregnancy sucks enough without the depression.  Hopefully once you're off work you can use some of the extra time to take good care of yourself.   <3

@tumblefluff: Yes to the Crown, but I haven't tried Handmaid's Tale because it looks soooo preachy.  Talk me into it!  Are there good characters?
  • @TheSouffleGirl
ive enjoyed the handmaidens tale, it’s not really preachy because it is not a legitimate religion, so all the time spent on that aspect of the show Helps with background and character development. It is intense and I haven’t seen it while pregnant yet, I tend to wrest differently to things when pregnant.

  • @Kateriee glad that you're going to be able to quit your job. Sounds like you could with fewer things on your plate.

@lin0442 +1 for enjoying Bad Blood. Honestly, I'd say the writing in the book isn't great but the story is just so wild it's a fun read.

    Due date: 4/24

Any appointments? Questions? Next appointment is first week in January: fetal echocardiogram. I'm nervous about it, but I should probably calm down because it's still a few weeks away. No questions that I can think of

    Rants/Raves?

How are you feeling? Physically -- pretty ok. Fatigued and a million small complaints, but honestly it's not too bad and I'm getting used to it. Mentally -- a wreck.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018? I read a bunch of fiction this year while on a biking touring trip (so fun)! I read some Octavia Butler (Xenogenesis series), very thought-provoking; and also a series by Anne Leckie (https://www.annleckie.com/books/), very fun! Also for non-sci fi, I read Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, which was sad but hard to put down.

For TV, during first trimester I watched all of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. I'm not sure I really like it or most of the characters, but overall it's light-hearted and the cinematography/costumes/sets are pretty.

  • @mesweettea Hoping the weeks until your appointment pass quickly and pleasantly. I keep trying to buy Anne Leckie’s series, but each time I go to the store they’re out of the first book :disappointed: And lol, I work in the medical lab testing field so Bad Blood was *extremely* entertaining- Theranos sounded like a dumb idea when I first read the first press releases and it just got more ridiculous from there.
  • Due date: 4/30 (21w+5)

Any appointments? Questions? I think my next appt is 1/17.

Rants/Raves? She has been moving around so much, I love it!

How are you feeling? Overall pretty good during the day, then when I get home for the day & relax, my back & legs start killing me.

GTKY: What is the best book you read and/or tv show you watched in 2018?  I love watching The Crown & The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. This year, I enjoyed reading Before We Were Yours, and Little Fires Everywhere.
