Re: Week 3 Check In 12/17
Rants/Raves?: Anxiously awaiting my Glucose test results. I was hoping that they'd be waiting for me this morning, but no such luck. I started doing squats/wall-sits while I brush my teeth since I can't seem to find any other time to workout and I definitely need to strengthen my muscles leading up to delivery.
How are you feeling?: DD1 shared her cold, so not great. As if the normal congestion wasn't enough, now I have a crazy sinus headache and runny nose. The sneezing does not mix well with my weakened bladder muscles either.
GTKY: What is your favorite Holiday movie? White Christmas. I watch it every year.
Rants/Raves?: MH and I had a mini babymoon this weekend. A friend is between apartments and she needed a place to stay, so she offered to watch DS overnight. We went up to Philly, pre-kids we would head up there a couple times a year just to get out of DC. It was great to go back and have some alone time with MH. That said, I am getting to the point where walking around isn't as easy as it used to be. My feet hurt and I feel like I've strained an ab muscle on my right side, and being on my feet makes it worse. I was glad to have some couch time last night when we got home. I think it's time to pull out the support belt, this belly feels a lot heavier than it did last time around even though I'm only a couple pounds heavier. I guess my ab muscles just aren't as strong now.
How are you feeling?: Tired and a little snotty. DS has had a bad cold for the last week. It hasn't totally taken me down (yet) but I am congested, even though I use the humidifier and neti pot every night. Hoping it passes soon.
GTKY: What is your favorite Holiday movie? The Grinch. Can't wait to show it to DS this year - I think this is the first year he's old enough to actually be interested in it.
Rants/Raves?: Raving that we finally got my son moved to the basement in his new room so we can change where he was to the baby room. my nesting is abated for now, although i'm sure it will ramp up once we start buying baby stuff. But it was nice to get him moved and settled and he is adjusting well and very happy about his little "man cave"...its funny bc now he is downstairs and i missed his "presence" lol...i started feeling sentimental because he is being so nice and caring to me, especiallly since my stomach is popping and i think he is feeling connected to the baby now.
How are you feeling?: pretty good. baby was moving CONSTANTLY friday night and saturday to the point where i was like "girl do you sleep ever" lol...but i enjoy it. and i agree with @meggyme, I actually saw in the Bump app...its called "Snissing"...the pee while sneezing thing
GTKY: What is your favorite Holiday movie? Bad Santa. It is completely not kid appropriate but i remember when it came out i about died laughing. I got it on DVD and would watch it almost every week for a few months when i was in college. Its still one of my favorite movies EVER. I love Bernie Mac and i miss him as an actor and comedian. Rom Com wise would be The Holiday. Love Cameron Diaz. Love Kate Winslet. win win on casting.
@gowenc glad you were able to have a mini babymoon and hope you feel better soon!
@zionsmama85 great news that the room change went well and your son is adjusting well!
Rants/Rave: my post last week was heavy so this week I’m staying all positive. My grandmother (and namesake) turns 100 today! We celebrated together over the weekend with all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. On Saturday morning, we did a mini gender reveal for our LO at the house my grandparents lived in pretty much my entire life (so super sentimental). Her response to finding out we’re having a baby girl: (in tears) “my birthday wish came true!” My heart melted. Top 5 life moment for sure - one I’ll always cherish and never forget! (A lil background: she has 4 daughters and only has great grandsons. When DH and I called her to tell her we’re expecting she said “it better be a girl!” - she didn’t even know we were pregnant yet!)
How are you feeling?: Pretty good overall. A week away from third trimester so hoping this continues!
GTKY: Love Actually and The Holiday! I’m a sucker for classic romantic comedies. @zionsmama85 love your answers - you covered my fav and DH’s (Bad Santa)!
@beachbaby0523 i'm glad you got such a nice reaction! it always helps when others are as excited as you are.
Rants/Raves?: I started my new position last week. The bump is blocked on my work computer so I missed last week and may be sporadic after the holidays. But my real rant is that this new job is my nightmare. They definitely have the wrong person in the position. I’m hoping to have this conversation with one of my bosses this week, but it’s not a great way to make a first impression. The short of it is that we support a lot of exercises, and in Jan/feb I will be working 12-14hr days (at least) on a night shift (like 4pm-4am or so) and will still need to fit in a workout, and sleep obvi. There will be another one pretty much immediately when I get back from maternity leave, which would mean I would not really get to see my baby for three weeks when she is only 12-14 weeks old. We do about four a year. AND I’m going to need training that I can’t do before I have her, and one course is four weeks and one is eight weeks and both are like 8hr journeys by plane with a layover, and I think they expect me to do them sometime in the fall. I’m already stressing about it, and think I will need to find a way to bring her with me because I couldn’t possibly leave her for that long so early.
How are you feeling?: physically still pretty good (though apparently have some diastasis recti already) just obviously stressing about work!
GTKY: What is your favorite Holiday movie? It’s a Wonderful Life - family tradition to watch it every Christmas Eve!
Rants/Raves?: Failed my 1 hr glucose that I took on Friday. Still need to schedule the 3 hr. Fingers crossed I passed the 3 hr like I did w/DD. So not fair to do all this in the middle of the holidays.
How are you feeling?: Horrible pregnancy congestion/rhinitis. It's miserable. I have to mouth breathe every night. And the post nasal drip has given me a dry, unproductive cough (the tickle kind). Awful.
GTKY: What is your favorite Holiday movie? White Christmas is also my favorite, @meggyme ! My favorites for comedies are probably a tie between Home Alone, Elf and Christmas Vacation.
@lisee923 I'm really hoping that I pass the 3 hour like I did last time, although last time they told me I technically passed but they were changing the test parameters and I would have failed under the updated parameters, which makes me nervous. I really don't want to be figuring out how to manage GD during Christmas while on vacation.
Rants/Raves?: Hoping this week goes quickly because I am off all next week.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good overall. Today I've started feeling awkward/uncomfortable with my growing belly.
GTKY: What is your favorite Holiday movie? Elf! I could watch it any time during the year. I also like Love Actually even though it gets a lot of flack for being anti-feminist.
@babycolima12 I'm so sorry about your stressful work assignment. I hope you're able to find some time to relax during the third trimester!
@meggyme good luck on your three-hour test!!
