Any appointments? Questions? Appointment on Wednesday, will get another ultrasound then because they didn’t get all the pictures of the 4 chambers they needed the last time . Oh darn! We get to see the meatball again! As far as registering, is anyone else overwhelmed with all the choices?
Rants/Raves? Raves: I love feeling the baby move all the time. Rants: Christmas shopping! I’m nowhere near done, and I have no idea what to get people!
How are you feeling? Pretty darn good!
GTKY: What is something positive about your partner? If I had to choose just one thing, it’s his unwavering support and love. I have had several careers since we got together and he has supported me in the change and struggles to make it in each one.
@aqualicious for sure on the registry! I started early, like 12 weeks maybe? DH wrote down a list of things. Actually adding them to the registry meant lots of research on quality, brand, reviews, prices, etc.. It's exhausting. Even now, it's public and I still am adding things and taking things off. A friend had bought something off my registry ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G33Q5BY?colid=2G138VG3C3TM8&coliid=I3L0LM18J0W1RL&ref=br_mb_ov_item_detail ) and her husband said to me later on "Do you feel like you already have your necessities? What things do you still need?" I could be completely off, but the way he approached and asked made me feel embarrassed that I have non-needs on my registry. I don't have any nursing clothes and my hope is to breastfeed for as long as my baby needs milk so I think his wife made a good buy. Maybe he felt his wife could have purchased something we needed more than nursing clothes. I dunno I'm resisting the desire to buy off my own registry just to know I'm prepared.
@mighty_montgomery I would say that women who have kids are more likely to know what you NEED versus their husbands. I like to give gifts that are needed (like the drying rack) but then I like to give stuff to the mama as well. Looking back on my first pregnancy, I know there were a few things I registered for that didn't really end up working out but for the most part, as long as you aren't going crazy and ordering 20 towels and 35 bibs, you're probably ok.
@aqualicious I definitely recommend reading the product spotlight forums here, I've added things from suggestions here that I didn't have before. I also wouldn't personally register for clothes because people love to give clothes. Maybe take some time after Christmas to visit Target or Buybuybaby to get an idea of things, it helped me to visually see things at the store even if that wasn't the place where I registered.
@mighty_montgomery I feel like some men don't really understand the need for nursing items and maybe his wife didn't breastfeed? I definitely recommend registering for nursing bras and tanks too. I think that's nightgown is a good buy, especially for the beginning when you're both learning (yep, some babies need more help than others).
Due date: 4/5
Any appointments? Questions? Next appointment is glucose test in January
Rants/Raves? Raves: today is a snow day and I'm super excited that I get two work from home days. I've been feeling extremely tired but I think I've just been doing too much because of work & the holidays.
How are you feeling? I've been getting braxton hicks on days that I am doing a lot physically. Trying to tell myself to slow down even though there is so much to do.
GTKY: What is something positive about your partner? He's doing a great job putting up with my temper, a pregnancy symptom that I didn't have last time.
@aqualicious I definitely remember being overwhelmed with the registry for DD, and I’m SO glad that product spotlights became a thing on the Bump boards at some point after the Aug 17 BMB. I promised myself that we would do this LO’s registry at some point before 24 weeks (because history of preterm labor), so I guess that’s this afternoon’s project. I’ll be reading through other BMBs too.
@mighty_montgomery Registries have a few approaches: just the facts, ma’am (needs only) vs everything but the kitchen sink (all the cute baby stuff) vs somewhere in between. They all have their pros and cons. Don’t feel bad about your approach.
Due date: 4/2
Appts: progesterone shot and growth/cervical length scan today. And the cervical scan was perfect (still long and closed!) and growth scan shows LO as pretty long limbed (which makes me think it’s a boy, as virtually every man on my dad’s side is a beanpole and virtually every girl is a shorter hourglass. Then again, my mom is 5’11”.)
rants/raves: IT’S VIABILITY WEEK. And some of my Xmas decorations didn’t fall down overnight (but really, DH, painter’s tape was a stupid choice to insist on).
Also raving about our lovely Saturday afternoon visit to the local museum’s new exhibit which was sooooo cool. And I was so happy to go as a family because it meant I got to read all the signs.
Feeling: great. Thrilled about the good ultrasounds. Back pain sucks still but it’s non pregnancy related. Also pleased about my weight gain being on track for my BMI. I’m totally gonna celebrate with ice cream.
Gtky: DH’s sense of familial responsibility is super strong, and though it conflicts sometimes with his entrepreneurial spirit, he’s been pretty successful in finding ways to make things happen in the way he wants. For instance, this whole Airbnb lifestyle allows both of us to stay home with our kid(s)and pursue other goals, which is a dream of DH’s since his childhood had both parents working from home. He wants to change the world, or at least a marketplace, and he’s got the ideas to disrupt industries...and sometimes (like this morning) I get to be the sounding board that distills them into actionable plans
Any appointments? Questions? Have a check-up next week! Has everyone gotten their glucose screen done? That should be soon, right?
Rants/Raves? Super happy to be feeling the baby all the time! I wish my husband could feel him/her. Happy that finals are over as well.
How are you feeling? Other than tired, great! Mostly tired because I have had people coming and going from my house for three days straight, which can be exhausting for me
GTKY: What is something positive about your partner? He is very supportive of me pursuing my goals and even encourages me to go further
Counting down the days till Chriatmas break and then after that it’s 8 weeks until my mat leave! I mean, not that I don’t love being around jr high kids all day every day...
How are you feeling?
Hungry.
GTKY: What is something positive about your partner?
Really, almost everything. I feel like such a slacker now because I’ve slowed down and am tired and complain-y and every time I acknowledge it to him, he says, “you’re doing a good job!” It really means the world to me. Also, he loves to say, “Daddy loves you, Baby! YOU LIKE HOCKEY!” to my belly every day.
Any appointments? Appointment next week for my second glucola test and an ultrasound to check the size of my baby's head again, but I'm not worried because small heads run on both sides of the family. Actually kind of a relief that the head is small. Are the shoulders also small by any chance?! :-)
Rave: The gender reveal was this past Saturday. A friend worked with my MIL to pull it off. Everything went well and we were so surprised to find out we're having a girl! A strawberry Poptart it is. :-) I've spent all of this week imagining what she will be like and what it will be like to have her as my daughter. I feel so relieved about having reached 24 weeks as well. I know no matter what happens now, we will likely bring her home. I have a daughter.... crazy. 😁
How are you feeling? So good. No charlie horses yet. My hunger is normal. Feeling my daughter squirm and kick is fun, especially that she has been transverse a lot lately. We were at my husband's band practice last night and she danced (or otherwise moved) to one of their songs but not the others, and she stopped when the band stopped to work on getting their parts right.
GTKY: What is something positive about your partner? He works to provide for us so that my work is optional. Having our children homeschooled is something both of us had always wanted and here we are making that happen. Right now, he's providing for us and his little brother who moved in with us when their parents moved out of town. I'm really appreciative of how hard he works for the life we have because it's not something most families have the opportunity to pursue.
@mighty_montgomery thanks! Got there, ultrasound went well, we got the pictures we needed. However both the doctor I was supposed to see, and my actual doctor were at the hospital in surgery, and were going to be at least an hour. So, I had to reschedule my appointment to tomorrow. I got to see my little meatball, so I’m happy!
