Re: TTC Check-in 12/3/2018

  • How's everyone doing?  I can't believe December is here.  This Thursday would have been our due date, so I'm struggling a little this week - just feeling alone - but I'll get through.  I just ordered the PIO and trigger for our FET on the 18th, so at least we're making progress.

  • @ChristenMA83 can you change my dx to unexplained and rx to IUI? Thanks

I've got a few days left in this cycle before I do blood work and US for the IUI next cycle. I travel for work later this week so hopefully I have the time to give them a call on CD1 to get started. FF is predicting Friday.

After some short discussion today, I might need to travel and additional time for the same reason later this month. I really hope that doesn't interfere with the IUI. How many days is letrozole taken? I think if travel is next week it can fit. Nervous about that though  :#

  • @ChristenMA83 - oh, so sorry to hear about this upcoming Thursday and the meaning behind that day! I can’t imagine how hard that must be!! *Hugs* Hope you get through the day as easily as that is possible. Glad to hear things are progressing nicely for your FET though!

@inthewoods23 - really hope your travel for work doesn’t disrupt your upcoming IUI! I don’t know if Letrozole for an IUI is any different compared to just taking it by itself, but typically it’s taken for 5 days (either CD 3-7 or CD 5-9). Did your RE give you the dates of when to take it?

@funkykey - haven’t forgotten about you!! Hope your ultrasound goes well today and that there are no unexpected surprises, but just full of joy!! Let us know how it goes!!

AFM: I received two positive OPKs yesterday and today, so glad about that. Should be expecting AF around the 20th, so I figure either way I’ll have something to look forward to: either a BFP or being able to just partake in some “holiday cheer” (aka wine lol).

QOTW: Well, I could go on and on with this one, but I’ll control myself lol. Right now one of my biggest pet peeves is people who take up the whole conversation talking about their kids. I have a co-worker right now that talks really only about the latest thing her child has done and is constantly showing me photos and videos. Even when the topic of conversation is on something else, she’ll interrupt it to talk about her son. I don’t mind some talk about how people’s kids are doing, but does it have to be the only thing we discuss?
  • @ChristenMA83 sorry about the upcoming day. For me, I found that the days leading up to were more difficult then the actual day. Sending creepy internet hugs and hoping it passes smoothly for you.

@inthewoods23 I get so annoyed when travel interferes with this process. I it works out without hassel!

@sincethelastday I would be annoyed at said coworker. Life isn't just about kids.

    Afm.... New here (clearly).

    1.  How long have you been TTC? This month makes 17 months.

    2.  What is your diagnosis? Per my OB I'm looking at RPL. Not sure if it's going to be unexplained or if we will find a reason.

    3.  What is your current Rx plan? Pending. RE consult next week. If anyone has wisdom to pass along, I'll gladly take it!

QOTW- Hmmm. Mouth open chewing is a big one. And my dogs obsessive licking of any and all his body parts ***bleh***

  • @sincethelastday I think when I take it will depend on when I can get in the for the baseline blood work and US. I have to check the sheet they gave me with the timeline.

    Forgot the QOTW:
My biggest peeve is DH leaving crap laying around the house, especially stuff in the kitchen. That new bag of shredded cheese he opened? The ripped off part will be sitting there on the island instead of in the trash. (Ok this isnti my biggest peeve, but he does it All. The. Time.)

Other peeve - when someone can't say they're sorry when they are clearly in the wrong. I have known my SIL for 10 years and never have I ever heard her say she was sorry for anything. I don't think remorse is in her vocabulary. Basically this peeve involves just about everything that my SIL is but I am not her and it has nothing to do with me so I'm not going to worry fixing who she is. Also, I hate people who just like to push people's buttons.

I should stop... I have a ridiculous number of peeves  :(

@inthewoods23 I updated your info :) Hope your travel schedule works out with the cycle timing.
@sincethelastday thanks for the kind words :)  Nice cycle timing, it's always nice for alcohol events to fall during a time you're sure you can drink.  I'm pleased our beta this cycle will be in time for New Year's celebrations - at least I can drown my sorrows in a socially accepted atmosphere if we don't get that BFP.
@prpl11butterfly thanks for the hugs :) It's nice when someone is able to "get it".  The feelings come in waves, mostly when I'm alone with my thoughts.  As long as I stay busy I'm good.
@inthewoods23 I completely feel you with that pet peeve.  My DH likes to leave his PJs downstairs so he doesn't have to go upstairs to change.  He has little piles of "favorite clothes" located all over downstairs.  And then he's like, did you wash my gym t-shirt....was it in the hamper???then how am I supposed to know you need it washed?? It's so frustrating!  And pushing buttons!!! OMG that is my dad!  He loves to stir you up....but then sometimes it backfires and he's the one that ends up storming out of the house.

QOTW: My biggest work pet peeve is when people come to me with a problem and then shoot down every single brainstorming solution as impossible/won't work/too hard and they aren't willing to offer solutions of their own.  OK, then just deal with the issue because you aren't willing to change your circumstances.
My other is punctuality...don't tell me you'll be there at 3:00 and show up at 3:45 with no notice....if something comes up, just a simple text would be so nice :D

  • @ChristenMA83 I hear you with the wave if feelings. When I found out a 3rd family member was expecting it hit me really hard for a few hours after the news and for the following few days I'd be totally fine, then when I had nothing else to think about it would pop back in my head and I would feel really depressed. Sometimes I've had to tell DH to let me feel my feelings.

And your work pet peeve ugh! I had a similar situation with my SIL. DH and I were giving her some suggestions for an issue for her to try the next time the issue came up or for any other issues with this particular group of people, but she was having absolutely none of it and was super snippy with us. "I've tried that already", "that doesn't work", "so and so won't listen to me" and etc. In this case she hadn't come to us asking for advice, but she shot down everything and not in a nice way.

I think we can all agree that sometimes people just really suck  :/

  • @inthewoods23 - I think you summed it up pretty good: sometimes people suck lol  :p We should have a different thread just talking about pet peeves!  :D
  • @funkykey big sign of relief that everything is still going well for you!!  I know it's been a long hard road and I understand the trepidation at this point.  Hopefully as time goes on you are able to settle into the pregnancy and feel the joy.

**TW**So I don't know if you guys remember me mentioning 2 guys at work had wives that were due to give birth 2 weeks on either side of our original due date.  The first wife went late and just gave birth last night, the second is going to be induced this weekend.  And in the meantime, I'm here expected to pick up the slack from them going out on leave.  I can't help but see a little humor in it though, if I had not had a MC, we would all three have been out for the final month of the year - which in the manufacturing world is a pretty big deal.  So today I'm enjoying the humor of a hypothetical situation.  It's a good day :)  **TW**

  • @funkykey - so happy that all is progressing well and that this is finally happening for you!! I think it’s perfectly normal to still feel that hesitation and sadness after dealing with infertility. Considering how much time is spent going through treatment, dealing with all the emotions, thinking about it, etc. I think it makes sense that it would also take time before one could settle into pregnancy mode. I hope you get to that place very soon and also have the time and the support to process all the emotions that I’m sure you’re experiencing right now! And thank you for the support you provided to all the ladies on this board through out the years!!

@ChristenMA83 - I do remember those co-workers you’re speaking about. And I think it’s incredibly resilient and amazing of you to be seeing the humor in that situation, because I don’t think I could. I think I would melt into a little jealous, bitter blob lol. Hoping that you’ll be able to share good news with your co-workers in the next little while!!
  • @funkykey yay! Hopefully now you feel some of the pressure is off :) *TW* I had a really hard time during my pregnancy due to conflicting feelings. I had a pretty easy pregnancy, but still hates being pregnant, but then felt suuuper guilty for those feelings. I also never felt super connected to my baby during pregnancy because it all just felt so surreal. All of these feelings are ok though, so, just like the rollercoaster of IF, let them come and let them go, whatever you need to feel is normal and ok :) oh man, I’m so very excited for you though!! *end TW*

@sincethelastday I’m sorry you have a coworker who only talks about their kid. I had one like that who literally acted like she was the first human to ever be pregnant. I finally turned to her one day and said, “we’ve been trying to get pregnant for over a year, so I’m really not interested in hearing about how awesome you are at being pregnant and how easy it was for you”. I had three people thank me for saying that - they were also struggling with TTC. I felt SO much better after getting that out in the open.

CD 23 here. I tested yesterday and BFN, so I picked up another round of letrozole and enjoyed some strong adult beverages at my company’s holiday party.

QOTW: my pet peeve is when I can’t let something non-important go. Like getting upset about someone doing something differently than I would do it. It rarely matters, yet sometimes I will obsess over how my way would have been better.
    Me: 39 SO: 36

Dx: low progesterone, possible DOR - officially "unexplained"

    TTC#1 since November 2015
    9/16/2016 IUI#1 - BFN
    10/12/2016 IUI#2 - BFN
    1/21/2017 Clomid/IUI#3 - BFN
    March 2017 IVF: BFP! (beta#1 191, beta#2 378!) - it's a boy! DS born 12/6/2017

    TTC #2 since July 2018
    May 2019 IVF #2: BFP! (beta#1 346, beta#2 646) - vanishing twin at 8 weeks. Baby B still going strong - due 2/8/20!

  • Thanks guys!

Please consider me graduated. :) I will likely lurk for a bit (old habits die hard), but I think it's probably time for me to check out, before I start being super annoying.

I keep thinking about IF, and about what advice I'd give to those going through it. Be educated, and advocate for yourself. Don't be afraid to be aggressive with your treatments. By "educated", I mean do your research - use the calculators, know your odds. I've seen lots of situations where I've been shocked by someone with a certain diagnosis getting KU-ed with their first IUI or fresh transfer - but those situations aren't common. The more aware I was of my own odds of success, the easier it was for me to make strategic decisions and advocate for myself.

Truthfully, in hindsight, I could have saved myself some heartbreak if I'd been more aggressive and more realistic about my diagnosis. For example, though I was under 35, my AMH was low, so I wish I'd done PGS testing on the embryos from our first round of IVF, if only to save myself some of that pain.

But, of course, hindsight is 20/20... *shrug*

@PoeMasque - thank you! I'm going to try to take it easy, and to just let myself feel how I feel - all the conflicting feelings, the everything. But we'll see how well I do! One day at a time! xo Good luck to you with TTC #2!!
