  • I can't believe how short our list is getting with everyone moving onto 3rd tri!
@kristimh80 fun about your shower! After Christmas sounds like a really good time! I haven't scheduled my glucose test yet.

    • How far along? EDD? 24 weeks, 2 days
    • How are you feeling this week? Pretty good. Just feeling soooo big!
    • Rants/Raves/Questions? Hoping to finish our kitchen cabinets in time to host Christmas. This project has been going on FOREVER. I won't even say how long. My husband insisted on doing it and has been dragging his feet. Now that we're hosting, he's been under pressure to get it done. But I"m getting a little nervous. Our entire house needs updating so sooner we get this done, the sooner we can move on to the next project. Nevermind where we're going to put the baby! I'm thinking he will have to share a room with his sister for a couple of years until we can build another bedroom upstairs. We have the third bedroom downstairs so that won't really work to put one of the kids down there.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Had a fetal echo today. Cardiologist wasn't in so waiting for her call now which should be any minute. Once I get the call and everything is ok, I'm announcing the pregnancy on social media...finally!! And then I have a regular OBGYN appointment Wednesday. I may be scheduling the glucose test and C-Section then.
    • GTKY: Any planned baby showers over the holidays? No baby showers for me.
    • Feel free to share a HDBD or nursery progress pic if you've started! Will send when I'm work. Working from home today since I had the fetal echo.

  • @Drove2u Right?! I almost commented that when I made this today !Surely, some of our 1st tri girls will be here soon! I wish I had never scheduled the glucose test, but they didn't give me an option lol I take it your fetal echo was a good and I saw am announcement with your little girl? Such great news!! <3

  • @kristimh80 yes!! Fetal echo went well. I have to say it was a pretty boring exam. Lol both me and my husband almost fell asleep.
And we finally announced yes!! I kinda wanted to do a Christmasy theme too but just didn’t get around to it. So my back up plan WAS my announcement haha
Regular OBGYN appt tomorrow so will see how that goes!! And agree, waiting for the first tri girls to move on over. :-)
  • How far along? EDD?
    23 weeks, 1 day

How are you feeling this week?
Really good. I feel like I go through growth spurts where I feel very heavy and dragged down, and everything is stretching out and pulling, and then I catch up to it and feel lighter on my feet again for a few days. I'm in a good spot for the moment!

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
So many little kicks and I love it! It's fun to joke about songs / voices / activities / food that I think particularly set baby off on gymnastics lol.

    Any upcoming appointments?
OB check-up and glucose test next week,

GTKY: Any planned baby showers over the holidays?
We are doing one the week after xmas while my sister is in town. Registry is done, which was quite a task! Overwhelming but fun.

@Drove2u congrats on good fetal echo and announcing on social media!

  • @Drove2u Cute bump!! Your announcement was super cute! Your daughter as adorable!

@scikap I never thought about seeing what songs, etc make baby kick! Since I have an anterior placenta, so just now feeling little kicks. It's so exciting when it happens! I agree, the registry process is a task!

  • Hi ladies! Happy Tuesday!!

    • How far along? EDD? 23 weeks, 4 days today. EDD still 3/29!
    • How are you feeling this week? Feeling pretty good! I had a moment on Sunday where I couldn't find a shirt that made my bump look like a bump instead of a fat old man belly, so sort of had a pity party for myself... but it's all good now. (I do feel like I got a LOT bigger this past week though.)
    • Rants/Raves/Questions? Non-pregnancy-related, Rant and Rave combined - Rave: my daughter had her annual heart cath/biopsy this past Thursday and everything looked GREAT! but the rant part is that one of the cardiologists on her team (the most conservative and worry-wart one) admitted her overnight because she wanted to have some specialists come see her about her ongoing GI issues (so basically she had to stay overnight unrelated to the actual procedure she had)... it ended up being fine because we were able to see 3 specialists all on Friday instead of having to schedule 3 separate appointments, but it was also frustrating and just a looooooooong few days. But thankfully everything looks good.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Regular OB appointment this Thursday evening, and I'll probably schedule the glucose test for sometime in the next month?
    • GTKY: Any planned baby showers over the holidays? Nope! Just regular holiday stuff with family.
    • Feel free to share a HDBD or nursery progress pic if you've started! I'll have to come back to post a picture once I get one this week. I think I miiiiiiiiiiiight announce on FB this week so I'm trying to come up with a cute idea for a picture to do that.
@Drove2u I'm so glad your fetal echo went well!! I almost fell asleep during mine, too. Boring is good, right?

@kristimh80 A holiday baby shower sounds lovely!!

  • scikap good luck with your glucose test next week! And have fun at your shower!! I hear you about the registry…soooo overwhelming!

    Thanks @kristimh80 !!

uterusdreams so glad to hear your daughter’s procedure went well. How old is she again? My daughter was looking at open heart surgery but luckily that is now off the table with a possible angioplasty instead. And yes, hahahah boring is good!! We are also just doing regular family Christmas stuff.

  • @Drove2u Thank you! My daughter is 7. And that's good that your daughter can avoid open heart surgery! Sounds like the angioplasty can be done via catheter? Has she had any similar procedures before (and how old is she)? Happy to chat if that's ever looking like it's in the near future for you guys!

  • I know most of you will be moving out to third trimester but gathered strength to post first time in PAIF. Happy Tuesday everyone. Work is little slow for me today. I just got to know yesterday that I am having a baby boy and low risk for Down syndrome. Both of us are happy to have a healthy baby although my husband took about 15 minutes to digest the news.

How is far along are you - 14 weeks 3 days. So I just moved into second trimester. Original due date is 5/31 moved to 5/27

How is are your feeling today- I am feeling ok. Never had any symptoms, feeling as normal as I can. I always felt little crampy so far

Any Rants/Questions/concerns: Not really. I just have appointments 5 weeks apart but I guess that is ok. My hospital is too busy to accomodate anything closer. Question? When can u start feeling the baby and how does it feel. This is our first one so not sure.

Any my upcoming appointments - my next appointment is on 12/12 at 16 weeks. That will be my first second trimester visit. I had first trimester visit was at 11 weeks.

GTKY: any planned baby showers over holidays- I think it is too soon for me at this point and I am not planning anything until third trimester.

Share pics - my bump is just starting can get confused between fat or baby bump.
  • @bkatp welcome   movements usually feel like butterflies or popcorn when they first start.  It will be very obvious when it happens!

  • @uterusdreams So glad everything is good with your daughter! I can imagine what a pain in the neck it probably was having to stay overnight, but least you saved a little without a bunch of dr visits!

@bkatp Welcome to the group! Congrats on having a little boy! There seems to be a boy trend in our group! FTM mom here as well. Like was just said, it'll feel like butterflies or for me it felt like something was rolling around in there. I have an anterior placenta, so at 23 weeks, was the 1st I feel I really felt baby and a couple times felt her on the outside.

  • Thanks @mayflower513 @kristimh80 I just started getting completely excited about the baby and the reality of it happening. Wanted to share with my family but convinced myself to holding on until 20 weeks anatomy scan. Now most of the time I want to talk about pregnancy and the baby 😅. My husband is not ready yet, he wants to wait out till 20 weeks, so I am going to have to wait till then.
  • @bkatp lol I get it! We didn't publicly announce until around 22 weeks, but close family knew. I'm always on the look for baby stuff 24/7. It's become a new bad habit!

  • Welcome @bkatp! I felt nothing until 21 weeks and then all of a sudden I was feeling tiny little taps. Looking back, I probably felt it a couple of times earlier but didn't know what it was. I'd describe it almost like puffs of air at first, like gas! Now I sometimes get some stronger thumps too.

Have you ever had that little muscle twitch around your eye? That's what movements felt like to me at first before they got more distinct. I first felt them around 20 weeks give or take --- honestly I just woke up one more and thought, "Something feels different 'down there'" and was wondering why I was having these random twitches and pops every so often. You know something's a bit different when you start feeling them!

  • Welcome, @bkatp

Thanks, @kristimh80, I appreciate it! And yes, definitely better to get everyone in one place all at once than to have to run around to different places/doctors afterward (which we may still have to do but at least it's organized now).

I haven't heard anything specifically about IVF babies being induced early, though I suppose since IVF can be high-risk and some other high-risk factors might lead to early induction, the two might be associated. But I don't think IVF necessarily means early induction. Let us know what your OB says, I'm curious!

  • Thank you all for the warm welcome and sharing the details for first baby kicks, I am waiting to experience those. I still have 6 more weeks to go, with holidays i think they will go by fast

@bpietronicco yes we will also be joined with other second trimester girls soon, I know a few are from SEP FET group who will be closer to our due dates.

  • @kristimh80
There have been some studies that recommend induction between 37-40 weeks (if no labor by then) as there is some evidence that the placenta and vascular structures in IVF pregnancies seem to be a little different and sometimes age faster. It's really conjecture at best, but I was planning on asking for  induction by my due date if I hadn't gone earlier.

  • Hi all! I’ve been following along but haven’t took the leap and now I am. :)
    • How far along? EDD? 15 wk, May 29
    • How are you feeling this week? I didn’t have much symptoms to start with other than fatigue, so still pretty fatigued. Feeling more fluffy and I’m not small to start so just letting it sink in. I think my stomach is showing just a bit but thankfully it’s cold - sweaters & jackets.
    • Rants/Raves/Questions? First ob appt today. Blah.. 5 min appt just to hear/measure fhr and if I had any concerns which I don’t, thankfully. I also think ob expected me to be more excited to hear the hb. But in my mind “I have a Doppler at home, I hear baby’s hb once a week” lol. But we did hear baby movements too so that was good.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Hopefully, I can get an anatomy scan scheduled between 18-20wks and another ob appt on 1/4.
    • GTKY: Any planned baby showers over the holidays? Nope, too early but tentatively set for March.
    • Feel free to share a HDBD or nursery progress pic if you've started! Baby will most likely be in our room for awhile for convenience.
  • @mrsyng
I'm so glad to see that you're feeling comfortable enough to move over here   Also very glad that everything is going well!

  • uterusdreams aww 7! She must be so excited for the new baby then! I was about that age when my little sis was born and loved it!  My daughter will be 2 years old this New years Eve. The VSD was found when she was 2 days old. They told us the most important thing we could do is keep her well fed. So I didn’t try that hard breast feeding and went straight to formula with some breast milk here and there. She’s been in 98 percentile for height and weight since birth and still is. They told us she will 100% need open heart surgery but that is now not happening because she’s been growing so well and her hole is slowly closing. Yes, the angioplasty would be done via catheter. We have our next appt with the cardiologist in March so will see what she says then.

Welcome@ bkatp! Congrats on having a boy!! I think you should start feeling a little something around 20 weeks. It feels like butterflies fluttering in your stomach at first. Or little tickles. And then only gets stronger week after week.

bpietronicco I love even the Doppler heartbeat appointments. So great for a strong heartbeat! Love the dinosaur theme!

kristimh80 I have never heard of IVF babies being induced early. With my first, which was also an IVF baby, they treated me like a regular pregnancy. I wasn’t seeing an MFM or anything like that. Literally only got two ultrasounds. There were no concerns or special things suggested to me because it was an IVF baby.

northbeach3 so nice to see you here! I haven’t had a professional massage in years so can’t answer that. But I did ask for a massage for Christmas. J

mrsyng loving all the new girls joining!!

Had my regular OBGYN appt yesterday. The hospital will be calling me to schedule a C-section with the doc who did my first one. So I’m kinda excited to get that on the calendar. I got my glucose drink and have my glucose test, first growth scan and regular Obgyn appt all scheduled for Jan 3. So that will be a big day. Nothing until then which is nice. My BP was a bit high when I was there and the doc started talking about possible pre-e and said if my BP doesn’t go down by the time I leave, I will have to pee in a jar for 24 HOURS and then bring it in and have a blood test to really test for pre-e. Thank goodness my BP went down before I left. LOL

  • @Drove2u So glad your BP dropped too! lol My gf is dealing with pre-e and she looks miserable. Her BP is usually on the low side and even with super swollen feet etc, her doctor always told her everything was fine which is crazy. Glad it sounds like your's was playing on the safe side :)

  • @kristimh80 Does your gf have high BP at all with her pregnancy? I am so swollen I look like the michelin man but my BP is always good (around 115/65 - ish on average) so my OB keeps saying it's just swelling and he's not concerned at all. I bring it up at every appointment. If your gf doesn't have high BP, what were the other criteria used for diagnosing her with pre-e (if you know)? I just can't fathom that all my swelling is "normal" so I'm really anxious about it.

I didn't even think it was a huge deal until she told me I have to pee in a jar for 24 hours, bring it in myself and then get blood tested. I"m like oh lord, this is just going to be a real hassle. So I can't imagine what your friend is going through right now. I'm counting the days until due date, until I get a c section date and pray for no issues. sigh.
  • @Drove2u My OB does the 24hr urine protein check on everyone at 12-14 weeks. Then again at 28-30. It's really not that hard, just keep the jug next to your toilet (they give you a little collector that fits over your toilet seat and it has a lip for pouring into the collection jug). I just did it on the weekend, cause taking that to work would have been weird lol I think he just likes to be proactive? Either way, hopefully you wont need it!

  • @halips I feel like it would be nearly impossible. I don't know how you did it! Were not always home...we're constantly out and about and are doing things. Our next 10 weekends are totally booked!! it's ridiculous.  And then I asked the doc if my husband could drop it off on a monday and they said I have to because I would need a blood test then. I work in NYC--two hour commute so I can't just take an hour break. It would have to be yet another day off for a doc appt. So, I'm so relieved I don't have to do it. Of course, I would just do it if I really have to...for my and my baby's health but what a pain!!
  • I was lucky (???) enough to be in the hospital when they did my 24 hr urine so it was super easy and the nurses basically handled everything; I just peed in the little dish in the toilet and told them when I filled a bucket. I drink -alot- of fluids and I was on IV fluids too so I filled two jugs XD

I had a really strange presentation of pre-E though....my swelling was minimal and my BP was generally mildly elevated but only got scary readings once when I was super anxious (they were doing the baby's NST in their outpatient observation unit that I went in to get because I felt off and my OB's tech was gone for the day). My protein tests were inconclusive on the 24 hr urine -- the one test said no protein, another test said protein. My MFM was just like, "I'm sure you have pre-E; I just need to figure out if it's severe or something I can monitor outpatient for the next two weeks until you hit 37 weeks."  He was a pretty awesome doctor, honestly. I would go to him again in a heartbeat. Super smart guy in his late 30's, great bedside manner but still on top of everything.

  • mbradfo2 oh wow! I would say if you have to pee in a jug for 24 hours, I would probably rather be in a hospital too with no choice and act like that's my only job during that time. lol. So did you end up having pre-e? What else did you have to do or be careful of?
  • @Drove2u
Well, I was 35 weeks and 2 days when they admitted me and it took them 2 days and tons of tests for the MFM to diagnose pre-E and decide to induce. I was admitted on Friday and I had the baby on Monday morning so I basically only had a few days where I was actually pre-E! They put me on magnesium drip once I was diagnosed and on track for induction that Sunday afternoon to keep everything stable so that was the only really annoying thing. Mag drips suck and make you feel like you have the worst hang over ever. Between that and the medicines to try to get things moving, I felt like I was dying. My OB actually lowered my dose of mag since I was having such a horrible reaction to it.  Luckily, the 12 hours of my failed induction were overnight and the nurse gave me medicine to help me sleep so that helped a bit with managing the side effects (since I was asleep lol). Once I had baby, I felt awesome!

  • mbradfo2 omg! you poor thing! I mean I guess it could've been worse but still, you poor thing. glad everything went well though. My first labor was 72 hours so I feel your pain and uncomfortable-ness. I'm just scheduling a c-section this time to cut out all that bull shit. haha  and thank goodness your pre-e was only for a couple of days.
  • @tosh24 I'm not positive everything else she had going on. One of her good gf's told me she thought she had it a couple months ago. She was also not eating good and eating out all the time with a lot of high sodium foods that didn't help. She was mainly just constantly swollen, l which I saw in person a couple weeks ago and looked so uncomfortable. Her BP is usually low and it stayed a little elevated, but not a concern if her BP was for a normal person but was high for her. She delivered a couple of weeks ago and still dealing with it.
