Rants/Raves? So, as grateful as I am that my MIL watches my 18 month old once a week, I’m so done with her being at our house every week. She sleeps over Sunday night and stays all day Monday. She’s a nice person, but we have very different views and sometimes she just gets under my skin. Two weeks ago, I told her we were buying my son a toy tool bench for Christmas. We were excited to have it out on Christmas morning. Yesterday, she tells me she bought him one and acted like I never mentioned anything to her. Typing this out is making me feel ridiculous and ungrateful but it really bothered me.
How are you feeling? My back has been hurting but fine otherwise.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? I would put it toward one of our million projects. We’re getting our floors done next week so I’d probably start there.
Any appointments? Questions? Going for my glucose test Friday
Rants/Raves? Rave - I think I'm done Christmas shopping and only a couple weeks left until I'm off for two weeks! I wish it were next week. Rant - DH did a group text to his siblings about presents this year. My SIL, who is also pregnant but with her first, texts back she would rather us buy things for her baby and save money to come see her baby and they live 4 states away. We are not close with her and have never been out to visit her. I was appalled by her requestjust because #1 she already had her shower in October (because she was too busy to have it later) and at the shower was boasting how she will get a ton a free things like diapers and formula because she knows "people". It isn't like she is in need, she is more entitled than anything. And #2 she expects the whole family to come when the baby is born, but we have told her we cannot travel becauseit is within a few weeks of our due date. She never came out here when we had our first. So she knows we will not be visiting her and the baby and she is coming here next summer anyways. Some people...
How are you feeling? I'm starting to feel done now, like home stretch, let's go. I'm not to the point of being done, done, but give it until maybe mid/end of January and I'll be there. I have energy to get a lot done but then feel exhausted and achy afterwards. I'm peeing all the time and starting to feel like a turtle when I lie down. Definitely slowing downbut still sooo much to do!
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? At this point, going to the spa and a new purse. That's probably all I'd squeak out of it. LOL
Any appointments? Questions? Just had a midwife appointment this morning and everything went well. Also took the glucose test but obviously no results yet. It's crazy that this is the last week of the 2nd trimester and I'll start having appointments every two weeks now!
Rants/Raves? Our wedding is less than two weeks away so that's unfortunately taking priority over everything else I should be focused on. Even though this is going to be a pretty low-key and non-traditional wedding with only about 60 people, I'm still pretty stressed out with what little planning we need to do. We're putting most of the money into a nice sit-down dinner for everyone and booze and saving money on attire (I bought my dress on Pink Blush), centerpieces (we're making them ourselves from plants I've collected and potted plants), and music (using an iPod) but it definitely takes a lot of time trying to figure out how to plan everything to look impressive while DIYing it.
I've also never had my hair or makeup professionally done in my life, have never been very comfortable dressing up, and hate being the center of attention, so being a bride has never been something that has excited me. I think I'm actually lucky that I'm pregnant in some ways because nobody wants to stress me out and I can get away with dressing in a way that I'm more comfortable with (and nobody's going to criticize me for not wearing heels!).
How are you feeling? Nothing really new from previous weeks. Aches and pains and stress but I think I have it pretty good overall.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? Unfortunately, it would just go into my bank account for some extra padding because our bank accounts are getting pretty low since my partner does not have a full-time job at the moment...
Any appointments? Questions? Not until next Monday -- glucose screen and follow-up ultrasound to see if my placenta has moved. Fingers crossed!
Rants/Raves? Spent the weekend away at a tabletop game convention with DH and some friends this weekend. We played a ton of board and card games and I just loved seeing the creativity and gorgeous art design throughout.
How are you feeling? Exhausted! But I can't completely blame the baby this week. The convention was all-day stimulation for 3 days and I was up until 3am on Saturday. I will need to squeeze in some naps to make up for it this week. Other than that, feeling big. I have reached a point where stranger gazes regularly bounce off my abdomen so I guess I now officially look pregnant.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? Realistically, I would probably just put it in my bank to be absorbed into whatever my next purchases would be (most likely gifts for others at this time of year). I might also use it as an excuse to get a massage or go out on a nice dinner date with DH but probably nothing more than that.
Any appointments? Questions? Had my GD test last week and looks like I passed, yay! Monthly checkup next week.
Rants/Raves? This weekend was the first in a while where both MH and I were free so I was really looking forward to get a bunch of housechores, baby prep, and holiday decorating done. But at the last minute MH had to work all day Saturday and then I got sick Saturday night through Sunday 😖. Rave is that despite all this we finally decided which room is going to be the nursery and moved furniture around to accommodate the setup, and MH spent most of Sunday cleaning (even the fridge!), while also tending to his whining and barely sick wife (only a sore throat and slight fever but I wanted to rest to make sure it didn’t develop into full blown illness).
How are you feeling? I’m surprised at how huge and immobile I feel, and worried about how difficult the next three months will be. I keep telling myself I should exercise and be active to help with flexibility and having energy, but I’ve become so dang lazy!
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? I’m with @novelblessings; a completely pampered day at the spa sounds wonderful! Oh, and a much needed haircut/style would be nice too 😁
@chocolatelemons I’d be pissed about that move your MIL pulled as well! If she bought that knowing you guys were planning on getting it, I would ask her to return it. Seriously, gift giving isn’t just for the receipient, givers get a lot of joy out of it too and it sounds like you and your husband are really excited about giving this to your son.
Any appointments? Questions? Not until 12/18. Passed my glucose test last week, Yay!
Rants/Raves? We went to the beach on Saturday and it was so pretty. I also found gluten free frozen puff pastry and made spanakopita, I think it has been at least 15 years since I have been able to eat it, sooo yummy!
How are you feeling? Pretty good, some difficulty getting comfortable at night, and definitely slower, though.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? I am self employed so this is unlikely, but probably a regular cleaning person for my house. Or a trip to Hawaii! Or a fancy travel system for the baby.
@bug_hunter less than 2 weeks until your wedding! How exciting! Best of luck to you with any final preparations! I think we have bonded over this before but I am also not a center of attention kind of girl and my biggest stressor with my wedding was for sure the 100+ guest list. They always say the wedding goes by quickly, and it does, but I definitely reached a point where I was ready for people to go home. Lol. Luckily, there's always the bathroom if you need some emergency time to recharge.
Any appointments? Questions? OB appointment tomorrow. Can't believe I switch to appointments every two weeks now! Time flies! I did my glucose/diabetes test a week ago and will get the results tomorrow. Fingers crossed! (I suspect they would have called me by now if I failed though?)
Rants/Raves? Christmas vacation in 2 weeks! I can't wait! 2 weeks in California is exactly what I need right now
How are you feeling? Pretty good - I've just gotten over a nasty cold so I can finally sleep/breathe/function again. It was awful! I've had some pelvic pain which was alarming to me since that didn't start until well into my 3rd trimester with DD. One day last week was so bad that by 7pm I couldn't walk - I just had a bath and crawled into bed. Fortunately the chiropractor seems to be helping a bit!
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? Hmm I like the suggestion of a spa day and a new purse! I'd pamper myself before baby arrives!
Due date: March 5 (although my new midwife wants to stick with the original due date of March 11)
Any appointments? Questions? Met my new midwife last week. 1hr GD screen at my appointment next month.
Rants/Raves? Baby boy had a full on dance party in my belly at 4am this morning. Bed time cannot come soon enough tonight. So. Tired.
How are you feeling? Overall feeling pretty well. My sleep is starting to get interrupted at night, and I am short short of breath recently.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? It would go directly into the new house fund. We are in the process of buying a house and I am constantly worrying that we won’t have enough money.
@maggiemadeit Buying a house is so stressful. We bought our first two weeks before we got married and I was going out of my mind worrying about everything (especially money). Where are you in the process?
@laur84ns where in CA are you going? I lived in so-Cal, and while it wasn't my cup of tea, I could totally use some of that weather right now. (p.s. Eat some In n Out for me!)
As for me:
Due Date: 3/6/19
Any appointments? Questions? Early 28 week check up this morning and glucose screen. I'd just like to say that I don't remember the drink tasting that awful, and 10 oz of that stuff barely made it down without coming back up.
Rants / raves? Rave: MY PLACENTA MOVED!!! No more precia and restrictions, and I didn't barf the glucose drink!
How are you feeling? I feel about as well as you can at 27 weeks pregnant. I pulled an ab trying to roll over in bed the other night, guys...
GTKY: That would definitely be buying me the Willow pump that I want so badly but isn't covered (at all) by insurance
@BuckeyeNut05 LoL. Considering I see her once a year, she will probably end up getting nothing from us. I told DH this morning she is so entitled but is a moocher. She can share if she supposedly gets so many free baby items from others.
@mayoduck good luck with the placenta! I have my follow up appointment 12/13 for the same reason. FX for us both
Congratulations to everyone who has got good news - passing glucose tests and moving placentas, among other things. And good luck to everyone who is testing/awaiting results/etc. Busy time in our pregnancies!
Due date: 3/7
Any appointments? Questions?: Had my regular OB appointment today. Found out I passed the glucose screening, which is great, along with everything else looking normal. Baby is super active - the doctor even commented on how much she is moving around. Haha. However, I continue to struggle with hemoglobin/RBC, so my OB upped me to 3 iron pills a day. Yikes! Follow up appointment for placenta movement on 12/13.
Rants/Raves?:Rave: Baby movement! Even though she kicks the hell out of me, I love how active she is. It's still amazing to me to feel her move. Rant: We have no idea what we are going to name her. Lol. But I learned not to Google anything about names, ask anyone for opinions about names I like, etc. People are so rude and opinionated about baby names. I probably won't announce until after she's born.
How are you feeling?: I am feeling fine! Continuing to stay pretty active, although shortness of breath is not so fun. I am actually sleeping better, or at least I have the last two nights.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on?: At this point it would probably go straight to all things baby or directly into savings.
@lalalauren15 Thank you! Fingers crossed for you too! And congrats on passing your glucose screening. Always nice to get one worry lifted off the brain!
@BuckeyeNut05 Woo! Congrats on officially leaving the low placenta club! Hoping many more of us will be joining you soon. Good luck with your glucose screening!
Any appointments? Questions?: OB appointment with Glucose test tomorrow morning. I'm really hoping I pass. After Thanksgiving I noticed carbs and sweets really messing with me. But then again we went to three family Thanksgivings so I prob just the amount of food lol
Rants/Raves?: Rave: Baby movement also! I'm kind obsessed with it lol I try not to cause too much of a fuss or say it out loud but at the same time when something is moving inside you I cant help it
How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I'm exhausted by the end of the day and haven't exercised in a few weeks besides walks. I didn't think I would be this big in the second trimester and have gained more weight than I thought I would but its ok. I try to keep my weight down due to a lymphatic disorder that causes swelling but so far it seems to be staying normal.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on?: At this point it Extra Christmas for my hubby. He has serious been the best, I feel so lucky.
@mayoduck I don't know how I would handle a bigger, more traditional wedding! Another benefit to having this wedding a little sooner than we would have liked is that we had a limited selection of affordable venues available so we had to cap the guest list around 60! I'm definitely going to need to find a nice hiding place, likely the bathroom, to recharge so I can get through the night. I hope I'll just feel a huge sense of relief after the ceremony and can enjoy myself a bit.
And thanks to everyone else for the congrats! Even though I'm stressed out, there are a few old friends flying in just for this wedding who I never get to see and it'll be really nice spending some time with them before I pop this kid out.
Any appointments? Questions? Went today for my gestational diabetes class. I was surprised to find that the finger pricks for the blood monitoring was not nearly as painful as I was thinking it was going to be. I am not much of a sweets person but I do love my carbohydrates so there will be some adjusting for the diet, but it won't be too bad.
Rants/Raves? After my class today I feel much more confident in my ability to manage the GD. No rant this week.
How are you feeling? Pretty much the same as I have the past few weeks. Tiring a little more easily and I think LO has decided that my bladder is his favorite spot to rest and kick. I have never gone through this much toilet paper.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on? I would save it for my maternity leave. Thankful I have short-term disability, but it only gives 60% of my salary. Every little bit I can is getting put into my savings to try to help with that 40% I won't be seeing for a few weeks.
Any appointments? Questions? Glucose test on Saturday
Rants/Raves? Not much going on this week I guess a Rave is that things are settling down at work at least for the moment.
How are you feeling? Pregnant is honestly the best word for it! I’m tired, feeling huge, dealing with Braxton Hicks, a short of breath, and just in general struggling more to get around.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on?
We are in the “saving for a house” part of life so it would go straight to savings.
@bug_hunter congrats on the upcoming wedding! I’m with you on not one to be center of attention but I just focused on my DH and my friends to help me through it.
@lalalauren15 I’m with you about not asking about names ... I shared somewhere else (in the name thread I think) that I mentioned to my MIL some names we had ruled out because she asked and it all negative comments on them. Gezz we did actually like them and still do like them at this time just aren’t considering them at the time for this one.
@BuckeyeNut05 congrats on the movement of the placenta!!!
@maggiemadeit we are in the house savings part of purchasing our first home! It is exciting but it is definitely stressing me out and we aren’t even looking at homes realistically yet.
@ashley14598@maggiemadeit I feel you guys on the buying a house/saving for a house front. I keep dreaming of finally paying a mortgage instead of rent. Good luck to you guys!
@bug_hunter The weeks leading up to a wedding can be very stressful, hang in there! Having a space to retreat to when you need a moment alone sounds like a good idea. Perhaps give your fiancé and/or a friend/family member a heads up so they can cover for you if people start asking where the bride is. Even if you’re gone for just 5 minutes people start looking for you, I swear lol.
@BuckeyeNut05 We spend our Christmases in Palm Springs. I love it there! (I currently live in eastern Canada so we'll be escaping the snow). And yes, In n Out is honestly our first stop each and every trip, on the way to my parents' place from the airport. I love it! The fries aren't life changing but the burgers sure are. Congrats on your placenta moving, that's fantastic news!
Appointments: Glucose screening tomorrow! Wish me luck!
Rant: I am BEYOND ready for my 2 week winter break! The students are bananas and I'm getting 3 new ones next week!
Rave: Finally got the office (mostly) cleared out to turn it into the nursery! I am also excited to finish up Christmas shopping after my appointment tomorrow.
How I'm feeling: Braxton Hicks are annoying and causing a lot of back pain! Otherwise I feel pretty good, just tired and HUNGRY!
GTKY: It would definitely go towards nursery furniture!
I had my OB appointment yesterday afternoon and found out I passed my glucose test with flying colours! Yay! I did start this pregnancy out overweight (unlike my last pregnancy with DD) so I was a bit worried.
I want to add a rave for this week: DH took the day off today to paint the nursery! Yay! I picked a beautiful, pale blush pink and I'm so excited
Congrats everyone on their glucose tests and good luck to those still needing to get it done. I've had the order for a couple weeks now but I am waiting until Friday when I have the day off to go and they said go sometime the week before my next appointment. I'm a little nervous I suppose. I did have to go at 12 weeks to do the 1hr test due to my PCOS diagnosis, which was different from last time but I had passed that. I'm sure it will be fine. Just been eating too much sugar lately!
@laur84ns yay for paint! DH is getting the paint for DD1s room today since we are moving her to a bigger room, she wanted a pale pink with purple accent wall. DD2 will have DD1s room which is pink with a dark pink accent wall. So close to having both rooms set up for the girls!!! I can't wait to nest like crazy!
Rants/raves: We're trying to potty train D, and it's not going so hot. She keeps peeing right after we put get her off the toilet and put her in a diaper.
My blood levels that were low and that could preclude an OOH birth are back up! Still low, but above that threshold, so I'm very happy!!! Also, passed the GD test, but I wasn't really worried about that at all.
Feeling: decent. Have had a few not so hot days with my back and pelvic pain, but for the most part, ok.
GTKY: Honestly, it'd probably just go in the bank and absorbed into our expenses. Would like to save in a separate fund for a house!
Jealous of those of you who get your DHs to do the room painting!! Mine has decided that's my job (which.... To be fair I was an art major in undergrad, and I am home a lot more then him due to our jobs).
I just finished a 3rd coat of paint and I'm hoping it's the last one!!! But there has a difference in opacity for where I used a brush on the edges vs where I used a roller (hence coat #3, and I only used the roller). I'm waiting until it dries to judge but I will be kind of cranky if I have to do a 4th coat!! I want to do a mural on one wall and I really want this part to be done so I can start with the creative part, and then be ready to actually set up the nursery! Of course, we still have to move a desk in there to our office, clear out the closet, and decide where to put the adult bookcase, so that we can get a kid one! But these are all minor details, right? And painting has to come first since we draped everything in drop sheets
Re: Week 1 check-in w/o 12/3

@BuckeyeNut05 Woo! Congrats on officially leaving the low placenta club! Hoping many more of us will be joining you soon. Good luck with your glucose screening!
Due date: 3/71
@mayoduck That is great news!
@bug_hunter Congrats on the wedding! I wore boots under my dress and I wasn't expecting. Be comfortable on your special day. I hope its wonderful.
And thanks to everyone else for the congrats! Even though I'm stressed out, there are a few old friends flying in just for this wedding who I never get to see and it'll be really nice spending some time with them before I pop this kid out.
Due date: 3/6
This thread is for those due March 1 to March 9
Due date: 3/9
Any appointments? Questions? Glucose test on Saturday
Rants/Raves? Not much going on this week I guess a Rave is that things are settling down at work at least for the moment.
How are you feeling? Pregnant is honestly the best word for it! I’m tired, feeling huge, dealing with Braxton Hicks, a short of breath, and just in general struggling more to get around.
GTKY: If your company surprised you with a $500 Christmas bonus, what would you spend it on?
We are in the “saving for a house” part of life so it would go straight to savings.
Appointments/questions: Had one this week
