I wish I had seen this at 430 when I was abruptly awoken by hubby slamming the door on his way to work and I spent the next 2 hours rolling around trying to sleep again.
I have a bad tooth, and I think maybe I was grinding my teeth or something because I just woke up randomly and it's killing me. This is pretty much the last thing I need right now, so I'm hopeful it goes away soon and then I can focus on getting it fixed after we move. 😭
@lappymom2019 yes! The last few nights I have been DRENCHED in sweat. It is disgusting. I have found when I wear pants and long sleeves to bed it’s better but I’m usually a “free” sleeper, so it’s super uncomfortable!
Omg @mrskoz428 and @lappymom2019 I cannot believe the night sweats this time around. Last pregnancy I couldn’t even get into bed without every inch of skin covered because the cold of the sheets bothered me so much and this time I wear a tank top and underwear and wake up completely drenched.
My cold is is keeping me up all week- it’s been fitful sleep. Last night our electricity went off for 45 minutes and the sudden quieting of all of our white noise machine woke our whole house up. I was able to settle DD down, but given that the low last night was in the teens, I was up worrying about having no heat all night.
Sore hips and restless legs over here, too! It's driving me crazy, the lack of sleep. Im cramping pretty bad right now. I may have lifted some boxes that were delivered today from our Black Friday shopping. Husband was at a work event and im so impatient so i brought them in from the lobby myself. Now im freaking out and praying I didn't do something to harm the baby. On the bright side, though, i think im finally feeling the baby at 14+5!!!
I’m normally a stomach sleeper but I’m now at the point where that is really not a viable sleep position any more. I’m trying to make the switch to side sleeping but it’s so uncomfortable for me. Within about half an hour of laying on my side I start getting horrible shoulder pain, whichever arm I’m laying on starts to go numb, and my hips start feeling painfully sore. Since I have to switch positions every 30 minutes or so, I never really get to sleep and end up awake all night instead. I ordered one of those pregnancy pillows last week and it’s supposed to arrive Friday, so hopefully that will help because I am in serious need of a good night’s sleep.
@beccaneu I feel you. I have the shoulder pains too. Have you tried placing a pillow between your knees? This will help align your spine and relieve some of the pressure on your hips. Also, good thing you ordered the pregnancy pillow. Which one did you get? My husband still needs to pull mine out of storage.
@Be yes to the shoulder and hip pain! I had one dog using my pregnancy pillow as his and snoring in my ear and the other one laying ON my legs. Couldn’t move most of the night. Then DH got up for work at 3:00 and both dogs started crying. 😭 Is straight up exhausted today.
@expandcontract I’ve tried the pillow between the knees but but I think I need a thicker pillow for it to work well. I’ve been stealing my husband’s pillows once he goes to work and they seem to help more.
This is this the pillow I got. I was looking at the snoogle but this one was way cheaper and got pretty good reviews so I thought I’d give it a shot first.
@beccaneu That looks like a good choice. I have the snoogle and the only thing I don't like about it is that it makes me hot and sweaty. If you asked my husband, he hates it because it takes up so much space (we still only have a queen mattress) but, with the same token, he will use it when I'm not around. So i know he secretly loves it.
@expandcontract. For years my husband has been taking up a ton of space in our bed with all his specialty pillows, which almost always end up getting tossed onto my side of the bed in the middle of the night. Now it’s his turn to deal with me being the one with the space hogging pillow!
I have been waking up at 2am every day for the last week for no apparent reason and I can't fall back asleep for roughly 1.5 hours! One of the most annoying things
@kbeers13 Ugh, same! Then I have a hard time not taking a quick stroll through Facebook or The Bump to see if anyone else is up. 2 hours later my husband's alarm goes off for work and I know I'm going to be up another 45-1 hour listening to his work boots clomp around the house. The joys of pregnancy.
@beccane that's the same one I got (U-shaped one) and I love that on of the arms zips off. I use the detachable section under my belly, and am able to curl around the other arm for between my knees. It's grea
I had insomnia before I got pregnant...but now it is so much worse. Does anyone have any ideas on how to maby get some sleep. I have tried tea, long walks and even sex but nothing i have tried helps. I don't want to use medication unless i have to. I worie about the effect it might have on my little wiggle worm. (thats what me and my fiancee call the baby)
@xxladyirishxx I have tried a drink called Natural Calm. It’s just magnesium so no harm to baby but it helps shut my brain down so I can get some sleep. A bonus is that it can help with constipation, too!
@eatinwatermelonseeds I hate when someone wakes you up and then falls back to sleep and then you are stuck awake! I hope you were able to get a bit more sleep.
Our neighbour works nights and for the last 2 nights his truck has woken me up when he leaves and then I can't fall back asleep after. The truck is super old and therefore obnoxiously loud. Time to get a new truck, buddy!
@xxladyirishxx I know you said you didn't want medication, but I've been taking 1/2 unisome (doxylamine succinate) for nausea at night (with b6) which is pretty standard for morning sickness/nausea during pregnancy. It does have the added bonus helping me get to sleep. Unfortunately, the MOTN pee breaks don't help with staying asleep
Count me in here today. I tend to sleep about 12 hours on non-school days (whoever said energy comes back in the second trimester can die in a fire) but today I woke up at 4 and that's been the end of it. I'm also a stomach sleeper which I can't do anymore. Pregnancy pillow helps but eh...here I am.
It's almost 5am. I was up at 2. Then 3. And haven't slept since my second wake up. My son was restless, kicking the crap out of me, scratching for over an hour (he has eczema and I tried lotion but it didn't help). Now he's sleeping and I tried to but my anxiety is through the roof. I'm suddenly terrified I'm not going to make it to term. I'm watching my sweet boy sleep (finally 🙄) and just running my fingers through his hair and holding his hand and counting my blessings but also terrified something bad is going to happen and rock my world. Anxiety is a bitch. I just want to sleep. But so so so much good has happened this year. It makes me scared. It also probably doesn't help that I watched a really bad episode of Jane the Virgin before bed 🙄😂
Between the wet comforter, the dogs leaving me no room, the 3:00 am potty break as we are dog sitting my parents dog and he’s used to it, and the 6:00 am vomit session from one of my dogs, it’s safe to say I didn’t sleep last night. Thankfully, I’m needing less sleep than during first trimester but this is getting ridiculous!
My husband sneezed...three times. He’s back asleep, dead to the world. I, on the other hand, have now been wide awake for at least an hour...pregnancy sleep sucks!
@knarlytaurus it got worse. DH just left for work but had to SLAM his car door shut 7 times because it was frozen open. Our dog started barking. I used to be such a heavy sleeper!
@mrskoz428 I hope you enjoyed your sleep in! I as up until around 5:30, then DH's alarm went off at 6:15. Now I feel like a zombie, but luckily today is my telework day. A nap will definitely be on the schedule today.
Re: Sleepless ladies 11/26
Also, I keep waking up with night sweats which I always feel is gross.
