  • 1. How far along are you? 26 today

    2. How are you feeling? Physically? Mentally?
Physically, pretty terrible. The Braxton hicks contractions started this past week and it's all I can do to make it home from work and into my sweatpants onesie to sit my butt on the couch. I have no energy and my upper back muscles are killing me from carrying all of the extra weirdly-located new weight. Mentally, I am OK. Still worried my previa will bleed any day now (it hasn't so far, I've been very lucky). Also I had a panic the other night when my normally very active baby didn't have a dance party when I tossed and turned and didn't sleep the whole night until it started up around 5:30am.

    3. Any appt updates?
Nope. Next appointment is Tuesday with my glucose test and I will be asking my OB to fax in a prescription for my pump.

    4. Rants/raves/questions?
Anyone else with a previous previa - how early did you have to have your c-section?  I'll ask my OB on Tues, but thought I'd ask since I can't find a whole lot on what the standard of care is. (Looks like between 36-37 weeks which puts me way up in Feb with my due date being 3/6 right now)

    5. Bonus instead of GTKY. Hello viability! How are you feeling as the 24 week mark nears/has passed?
TW - Eh, that really doesn't make me very confident to be honest. One of my girlfriends who suffers from preeclampsia had both of her babies right around 25 weeks, one spent a tremendous amount of time in the NICU, and the other didn't make it. I probably won't feel better until around 35-36 weeks.

  • @Purpleteacher82 I feel you on being extra tired this week!

@BuckeyeNut05 hope you’re feeling better soon and the Braxton Hicks let up!

@3rdtime_charmed hope your appointments today go well!

    1. How far along are you? 24+5

    2. How are you feeling? Physically? Mentally? Physically I’m starting to feel big... and suddenly switched from always hungry to full quickly and for longer than usual (which I’m really not loving). That aside, just normal minor discomforts, rlp, some pelvic pain. Mentally, feeling movement helps a ton, although she not super active and I have an anterior placenta...

    3. Any appt updates? Glucose test the week before Christmas - not psyched.

    4. Rants/raves/questions? Work has been a serious source of frustration recently. I’m part-time (my choice) and a contractor (their choice) and am not getting treated like I’m part of the team. I get left off of meetings and not given access to tools that the rest of my team get. It frustrating and a bit demoralizing. Makes me miss my last job that much more.

    5. Bonus instead of GTKY. Hello viability! How are you feeling as the 24 week mark nears/has passed? After being regaled with two heart-breaking stories of things that can go wrong at thanksgiving, I’m still feeling apprehensive.

    2. Physically: depends on the day, today like crap. Thanksgiving was good though. Mentally: pretty good. Lo moves around a lot so that's helpful. Sometimes I can't help but have a little freak out and wait for Lo to move.

    3. Next appt is Friday. Just the 24 week. Hopefully I can get a lot of my questions answered. Next Thursday I have a growth scan.

    4. Rant: mil is driving me crazy with shower stuff. Her and my mom are co-hosting and failing at communicating with each other. I don't mind being the in-between, but it is driving DW crazy and it's causing arguments. Back aches all the time. I really need to do more yoga. I have two types of scoliosis.
Rave: my mom and wife have both been helpful and amazing (besides the shower stuff). They are both so excited for this baby.
Question/Rant: anyone's family not excited about this baby? My mil seemed excited when we told her. But now, it seems like since we aren't finding out the gender she is having a difficult time with the whole thing. She keeps pushing us to find out, I'm not worried that we'll fold. I don't know how else to phrase it, but it seems like she can't bond/ it's not real to her.

    5. I'm so excited to have gotten this far! Next goal is 28 weeks. I know that it's silly, but just mini goals seemed to go by quicker. And it just makes me feel like our chances are that much better. My cardiologist doesn't see why I wouldn't make it to full term, so I don't see her until 34 weeks.

    2. How are you feeling? Physically? Mentally? Physically: Starting to feel big and my heel pain is a good reminder of weight that I've put on. Mentally: Usually pretty good, but this week I'm spent!

    3. Any appt updates? OB tomorrow for belly check. Course glucose test is right after xmas, so will be trying to refrain from all the good stuff!

    4. Rants/raves/questions? Rant: My give a crap button is pretty low and I've gotten where I don't wanna deal with buyers at work with all their drama or even people that come in the door wanting information. Yesterday, I couldn't get anything done because people were constantly coming in. At one point, I put up a sign and locked myself in the back office for a break. Sadly, I see this happening more lol Rave: Today is my Friday...so ready!

    5. Bonus instead of GTKY. Hello viability! How are you feeling as the 24 week mark nears/has passed? I'm excited for it to finally be there! I've been avoiding reading charts about it so I don't obsess. But it doesn't make it easy as last week my gf lost her baby at 36 weeks due to a freak accident.

  • Sorry being a little MIA over the last week. I'm dealing with pregnancy carpel tunnel so typing a ton sends my hands into tingles.

    1. How far along are you? 25 weeks 4 days

    2. How are you feeling? Physically? Mentally? I need to be talked off a ledge here ladies, my PGAL brain is going insane this morning. I got sick in the middle of the night and then again this morning from both ends. I only ever got sick like this with my daughter who passed and so naturally my brain goes straight to the similarities. I know in the back of my mind that it is likely the virus my son dealt with last week hitting me later for some reason, but it's still hard not to over analyze. The only thing giving me a little bit of reassurance is the fact that Parker is still kicking up a storm and having a dance party in there. As it gets closer, my paranoia is getting worse. I did talk to my husband about seeking help with a counselor for the last leg of this pregnancy.

    3. Any appt updates? My next appointment is Monday and I plan on bringing up my concerns then.

    4. Rants/raves/questions? Rant, dogs getting older is unfair. I had to take my female boxer out to potty this morning and took her out front since there are less steps and she could barely hold herself up to pee. We are sleeping in our basement while my husband makes our master more baby ready due to recent remodeling and we locked our dogs upstairs because of the stairs and our female pottied which I feel is my fault because i heard her whining and thought it was because of her being up there not being she had to potty. So queue the mom guilt there, add in the hormones, and I'm a mess. Sorry for the book today ladies.

    5. Bonus instead of GTKY. Hello viability! How are you feeling as the 24 week mark nears/has passed?

I don't think this pregnancy will truly feel real until the day I go into the delivery room for a c section to deliver a living, breathing, baby. I hit the 24 week mark last week and was excited about hitting it, but with my loss of Kali being later it won't feel like we are out of the woods until Parker is born.

We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.
Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016.
Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015.
They will be forever missed. <3

  • @Lbloom I’m so sorry you’re so uncomfortable and dealing with so much. I hope next weeks appointments help you get some plans in place and help you feel a little better. Thinking of you.
  • @bdesterhouse that sounds like a lot to deal with. I'm sorry you have to go through that. I hope you find a counselor to help you with these feelings.

@Lbloom glad you're still here. Sorry, sounds like you have been super busy. Hopefully you get some answers from the doctors and can keep little one growing in there awhile longer. I have started kick counts too, even though lo is so active.

  • @bdesterhouse I’m so sorry you’re having such a hard time right now, I hope baby keeps dancing around and reassuring you and that you find a therapist who helps. Also hope Monday’s appointment brings you some peace. And aging pets are so hard, it’s such a helpless feeling watching them struggle. Thinking of you.

    2. How are you feeling? Physically? Mentally?
Physically: I'm feeling great. Finding a comfortable sleeping position is getting more difficult, but other than that no complaints. Mentally: I'm doing better after my AS and being able to see the little guy again. I'm feeling him move every day, but it still just feels like flutters/tickles thanks to my anterior placenta. I can't wait for some real kicks!

    3. Any appt updates?
Monthly checkup next week. I need to call and see if they are going to have me do the glucose test.

    4. Rants/raves/questions?
Rant: One of our adult speech therapists quit and now the pediatric speech therapists have to help cover the adult caseload. I am not looking forward to it! Hopefully they hire a replacement soon, but I'm not optimistic because it took us 8 months to find this therapist and she quit after only 3 months!

    5. Bonus instead of GTKY. Hello viability! How are you feeling as the 24 week mark nears/has passed?

Although I am so happy to be this far along in the pregnancy, the idea of having my baby this early is not something I think anything positive about. As a speech therapist, I work with those kiddos and it usually means a lifetime of challenges. I don't think I will be optimistic about the idea of delivering until I'm much further along.

  • @emarcinek99 I would clarify that not all kids born early have challenges. It depends a lot on why they are born early (planned versus spontaneous, etc) and every week makes a huge difference in outcomes. I haven’t updated here but posted in the high risk thread, my doc told me yesterday that I need to prepare myself for a delivery as early as 29 weeks. She told me that at that gestation my twins would be very unlikely to have any long term problems. She told me this because the babies are big and she’s just not sure they have enough room.

  • @3rdtime_charmed I agree that not all preterm babies have challenges and every week does make a difference in the long term outcomes.  I did not mean to upset anyone with my response. I was just saying that, personally, I do not feel any less concerned at this stage in my pregnancy just because I have reached viability. I hope we can all go as long as possible before we have to deliver, but I do understand that in many cases it is best for women to have a planned delivery before their EDD.
  • @emarcinek99 it’s ok. Just clarifying. I’m not feeling that great about viability either, that’s why I included the question in the check in. And I get that your job certainly must bring these worries to the forefront for you. It’s hard as a healthcare person to remember that we see the worst cases, the ones that did great don’t need you!!!

  • 1. How far along are you? 24 weeks

    2. How are you feeling? Physically? Mentally? Pretty good physically. I still don't feel that I am showing that much but otherwise no major complaints. Some hip pain at night. Mentally, pretty good but like @purpleteacher82 I know someone who lost at 24 weeks, so I constantly worry. The kicks are reassuring.

    3. Any appt updates? I was diagnosed with placenta previa at AS, so on Monday I have an US to check the placenta's placement.

    4. Rants/raves/questions? Rave, we did decide to make our social media announcement.

    5. Bonus instead of GTKY. Hello viability! How are you feeling as the 24 week mark nears/has passed? Feeling happy that I am more than halfway.
  • @BuckeyeNut05 - GL tomorrow with your glucose test!
@3rdtime_charmed - how did your appt go on Friday? Sorry about your asthma, I have it too and breathing kind of sucks right now.
@Kenneylynn3 - mini goals are great! I'm glad you have such a good support system with YW and mom. I have really been trying to not look further ahead than the next appt, but the a/s made it a little more real I need to start preparing things for his arrival.
@Lbloom - so happy to see you back here, friend! Glad you put yourself on limited mobility, although I'm sure it's super difficult to do so. Big hugs!
@kristimh80 - good call locking yourself in the back! Sometimes it just gets hard to rein it in. It's way too easy to get snippy lately.
@bdesterhouse - oh, poor puppy! I think seeing a counselor would be a great idea. It's hard to distract yourself from the similarities. In the meantime, at least Parker is kicking up a storm and reminding you someone's in there! GL at your appt today!
@karatepickles - your dogs are so cute! what a sweet announcement!

  • @catlady2015 Awe it maybe best to go to that appt by yourself! Thank goodness they give us that paperwork early. I don't know when in labor or even after I'd have the brain cells to wanna mess with it! I feel you on not being able to sleep well. I keep making myself roll to the left side, but still no comfortable.

@catlady2015 I’m sorry your husband doesn’t get it. I know MH really appreciates when people take the time to talk in a way he understands rather than just talking to me like a doctor.
My pulmonologist changed my meds around and my breathing is a little better!! But most importantly, the doctor didn’t think The babies are suffering any for it.
