July 2019 Moms

First time moms!

I am about 5-6 weeks along. I have my first ultrasound on Monday. I’ve been experiencing sore breasts, mild cramping and some dull aches in the beginning. Some days I feel no symptoms. And no morning sickness yet. I’m really excited for my first appointment and to have a due date 😊

Re: First time moms!

  • I’m a first timer, too! I’m just about 8 weeks along. My symptoms were very similar to yours, but over the last week or so I’ve started getting more queasy (no puking yet!) and had a huge uptick in hunger. It feels like I go from 0 to ABSOLUTELY STARVING in no time at all.

Good luck with your appointment! That first ultrasound is so mind blowing.

  • Congrats! I heard the first appointment is awesome. I hope it’s not too early to hear a heartbeat maybe! I’m certainly not complaining about the lack of morning sickness but I just want Monday to come so I can feel at ease and know everything’s okay! :)
  • I'm a first timer too and only 6 weeks 5 data along. My first appointment isn't until January because Christmas is interfering with booking with my normal doctor. That said, I wanted to see something prior to telling our family at Christmas so I booked in for a heartbeat session at a private clinic December 21st (10 weeks). I'm located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and I'm going crazy not being able to make things go faster.

Welcome mamas! There is a thread to check in for first time moms!! It got buried recently, but should be bumped to the top now! Just another way to connect with other moms, similar to the due date groups!

  • First time mom here, too! My first OB appointment was yesterday. Our little Bean measured in at 7W2D & I have a due date of July 14th. My immediately family knows and I plan on sharing the news with my extended family on Christmas.
  • Hey all, FTM here and me and my boyfriend are both super excited. I dont have my first appointment until 12/17 and hate having to wait. I live off the road system in Alaska so doctor appointments mean flying. *fingers crossed* that all looks good at the first visit and that I wont have to go in for appointments too often. We've been trying, so this wasn't a huge surprise, but i know i wasn't ready for how different my body would start feeling.
Looking forward to connecting with you all
  • First time mum here! Due 1st July 2018. Can’t wait for the NT scan on the 17th December, 6 weeks between ultrasounds is far too long!

pregnancy is not at all what I expected! I guess I had no idea what to expect but didn’t think there would be so much exhaustion and nausea. So stupid haha.

Anyone have any pregnancy/labour book recomendations? Googling increases my anxiety and I have so many questions 😐
  • This is my first pregnancy after 5 years of no preventing. I had resigned myself to not being a mom, so this was a shock! I'll admit, I was sad at first, but that didn't last very long because we've wanted a LO for so long! I don't really "feel" pregnant yet, but I'm sure it will hit me square in the face with my first US.

My big fear is how I'm going to figure out how to raise a child with DH and my busy work schedules. We're so busy as it is, how will a baby fit? I know we'll make it work, but it's stressful to think about right now.

I'm most excited to see DH blossom as a father. I know from the moment the kid is born, he will fall madly in love.

Can I just say pregnancy is not what I expected? I’m so glad I didn’t know I would be this sick. Not to mention my acne-PTSD with all these breakouts. I feel like a teen again.
  • @elle_88 not really an answer your questions type of book but DH got me It's Really 10 Months Special Delivery: A Collection of Stories from Girth to Birth and man did I enjoy that - highly recommend!
