This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Iceland (been there once, will always go again if given the chance), plus a whole host of other European countries (Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Denmark, Faroe Islands). I should just become a travel blogger so I have an excuse to go to all these places.

GTKY: If you could travel anywhere where would you go and why? Right now I’d like to travel anywhere to relax. I really don’t care where it is.

Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): ivf
How are things going?: I'm doing okay but I'm ready for retrieval. My belly is bruised and I ran out of one of my meds and needed one more day so I had to have it filled this morning at a specialty pharmacy that my insurance doesnt cover so I had to pay out of pocket ugh. Waiting for my doc to look at the ultrasound and blood results from this mornings appointment to see when retrieval will be, she thought wednesday or thursday the last we spoke.
Any questions?: For retrieval, did you take one or two days off work? My nurse said only one is necessary but have seen ladies on here and on google saying they felt worse the second day.
GTKY: If you could travel anywhere where would you go and why? Anywhere with those over the water huts, Figi perhaps?

@inthewoods23 sorry I must've missed that. @kobrien827 for both of my retrievals I took the day of the ER off. I was okay the second day, but I did heed all of the advice for the day of, rest/sleep, but when awake get up and walk around. drink electrolyte filled drinks and eat salty foods. Are you doing a frozen or fresh transfer? If you're doing frozen you can take some pain meds/more than just Tylenol if it gets too bad. I can so relate on the bruises. FX you get a date soon. As for me I'm currently scheduled for an FET on 12/4, but I will find out for sure most likely on Wednesday.

@kylienoin I'm sorry you find yourself back in this position all this time later. I can't imagine the level of emotion involved. Good luck with your appointment today - we're here rooting for you!
@intothewoods23 Great news about the genetic testing I hope your phone call with your RE's office gives you some solid information that allows you to form a good plan.
@AvrilMai I really hope this is it for you too. Sending you all of the most positive vibes!
@kobrien827 I hope your dr gets back to you soon about the next steps. A friend of mine went to Bora Bora and stayed at an over-the-water-hut and said it was amazing. Bucket list!
AFM - still WFAF. Got beautiful EWCM for the second cycle in a row, got two days of blazing positive OPKs, had some excellent timing with DH...and now I wait. For the last 3 cycles that I've used OPKs, I've gotten my period 6-7 days later. At the initial RE consult I brought this up and she dismissed it, saying she doesn't really trust/put stock in OPKs (and that LPD are extremely difficult to accurately diagnose). Internally I raised my eyebrow at this but I know she isn't going to just slap me on progesterone for a LPD without any other information, so I'm going to keep calm and trust the doctor right now. The good news is that if AF arrives 6-7dpo, I should be able to get my baseline stuff done on my days off instead of having to take time off work (which is really tough for me to do) or go in on a weekend. So fingers crossed that part of my wonky cycles at least stays consistent
@Swiftlet appointment is scheduled for the early afternoon on Thursday so I will have an update in a few days!
@suzycupcake I hear you on travel ingredients anywhere to relax. Most places I would love to visit would include a lot of hiking and walking to see the sights, but I would also love a warm weather vacation on the beach where I spend the entire day just laying in a chair.
@kobrien827 stupid OOP expenses! That sucks that you had to do that!

@beachbunnyxo123 Glad that you feel good about your current plan and getting started. Greece does look beautiful. I wish I'd studied abroad more in college. I went to London for a Maymester but wish I'd done a whole semester.
@inthewoods23 So glad that your genetic screening came back negative.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): This will be our last natural cycle before moving to a medicated IUI with femara.
How are things going?: Honestly I've been very emotional about it. It feels like time has run out for me in a way and it's hard not feeling like the IUI is our one shot because we just don't have the money for anything else. It's hard not to put a lot of pressure on myself even though I know I have no control over these outcomes.
Any questions?: I'm nervous about taking Femara and having it mess up my cycles. Right now I'm pretty regular but if the IUI doesn't work will it throw things off and make things harder to predict for future cycles?
GTKY: If you could travel anywhere where would you go and why? Ireland because I'd want to learn more about my heritage, Japan because I feel that the culture is so different from mine, Iceland for the natural beauty, and Australia for the amazing animals.
@littleredm ooh yes I would like to add Australia to my list too! My sister got to travel there for a wedding last year. New Zealand sounds good too.
I have way too many places I want to visit *sigh*

@kylienoin I hope your appointment goes well today! @beachbunnyxo123 YAY for things being on the move for you (: @inthewoods23 EEK, glad to hear you survived Thanksgiving. The holidays can be tough! I'm definitely glad we're down 1! @Avrilmai I have everything crossed for you! @suzycupcake I'm with you on the "TAKE US ANYWHERE" train! @kobrien827 YAY! Keep us updated on your retrieval date. So exciting! @Swiftlet Hm, that's interesting that your RE said that about LPD? Hopefully ya'll can get it figured out soon! (: @littleredm I think Femara will keep you pretty on track if you're having regular natural cycles now. It's a lot better than Clomid in my opinion! I have my fx for you, hopefully you won't have to go to the next step!
Diagnosis (if you've been): LP defect
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO CD7
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI#4
How are things going?: So far so good. My RE upped my dosage from 5 to 7.5 per day and paired with the god sent progesterone, I'm more hopeful this cycle!
Any questions?: N/A
GTKY: If you could travel anywhere where would you go and why? At the moment, I'd give anything for a long weekend away, anywhere. Unfortunately with the holidays, IUI scheduling, and saving for possible IVF, no such luck. But, I really would love to go to Europe one day!
@kobrien827 Bora Bora (French Polynesia) is THE place for the over the water bungalows (OWB). Other places are starting to do the same like Mexico and Fiji but Bora Bora is where it all started due to the way the island is: main island with the volcano mountain and motus (pieces of land) circling the main island with shallow waters. We were there last June and it was the best place I have ever been. Just walking out the airport I was taken aback.

@littleredm Sorry that you have to go through this. I hope that at the very least, knowing that you aren’t alone, offers you some kind of hope that you can endure it. It’s a shitty crappy end of the fucking shit stick. Huge hugs. The Femara shouldn’t make your cycles wonky but maybe another lady in here who actually has regular cycles could chime in to answer. Maybe @zamora_spin?
@crookshanks10 I’m so glad she was on board with the request to increase. Here’s to hoping you get a great number of follies and that this cycle will be it for you guys.
Afm; lining check went okay. He says it is 10.4 and triple. Right now, we are trying to decide on a backup plan if the first aneuploid resulted embryo doesn’t survive the thaw. Decisions are hard.

@kylienoin we went to st Lucia on our honeymoon and it was absolutely beautiful! I would totally go back!
@inthewoods23 hope you get some answers and a plan soon!!
@kobrien827 I only took one day off for the day of the ER. I felt okay the next day at work. Around how many follicles do you have so far? The more you have the more sore you may be.
@Avrilmai how have your lining checks been? I can’t believe you might be starting PIO this week, ah!
@Swiftlet one of the hardest things for me has been finding the balance between advocating for myself and trusting my doctor, 6-7 day LP is definitely a concern so keep advocating for answers!
@littleredm the femara won’t mess up your cycles. Mine have always been regular and I did about 8 medicated cycles with TI and also IUI and it never messed anything up or made it irregular.
@crookshanks10 hoping the med adjustment helped! If my progesterone level wasn’t where they wanted it post IUI my doctor always increased my femara.
AFM just got the call from my nurse, good to go to start FET meds, will start gonal f, lovenox, and baby aspirin tonight!
@rikiteacup omg that picture is so beautiful. Thats it, Bora Bora is definitely on my list now @beachbunnyxo123 They counted 14 follies on Saturday so we'll see!

@littleredm I did 3 IUIs with Femara and it didn't really change much. my cycles were pretty regular before that and stayed the same after. My LP was a bit longer, but that was because of the progesterone supplementation. @suzycupcake we will transfer one. it is not recommended to transfer more than one at this time/my age. @crookshanks10 glad you're feeling more hopeful! @crookshanks10 Yeah, I dunno, I thought it was kind of weird honestly but then again I don't temp so I guess there's no way to know for sure if I even ovulate? Plus I thought LPD tended to result in shorter cycles, not longer/irregular ones like I have. Perhaps more question territory here (anyone feel free to share their
wisdom/experience!) but my impression is that if I'm having long and
irregular cycles, my egg quality is likely not great if and when I do
ovulate and that may be contributing to a short LP. Does that still
count as LPD? Would love to know more info on how you arrived at your own diagnosis of LPD - you can PM if you'd prefer I'm getting way ahead of myself until I have more of my diagnostics in hand but I still have days to go before I can even get testing started!
@beachbunnyxo123 Yes! It's difficult for me to advocate for myself period, let alone in a new and emotional situation like this. I guess my feeling right now is to get some baseline information (bloodwork, US, HSG) and bring it up again. Any tips on finding that balance are appreciated
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Gearing up for next week!
How are things going?: I had my appointment with my RE this morning. My lining had measurements varying from 7.2-7.65. I was happy with that, since I just wanted to be at least somewhere in the 7s for a transfer. At first my RE said that she wanted me to come back on Friday to re-check the lining, but I've already been on Estrace (and waiting in general) for quite a while. She agreed and said she wanted me to come back on Wednesday, just to see if we can plump it up a tiny bit more. I thought I would end the appointment without a clear transfer date, but the RE came back when the RN was writing up my plan and said we should just plan on doing the FET on Dec 4, since we know we want to do the transfer even if I don't get to 8! I'm soooo happy to have a date to look forward to and I can finally be done!
Any questions?:
GTKY: If you could travel anywhere where would you go and why? I've gotten to visit so many places, but I would love to return to New Zealand. I also would love to do a cruise, since I've never been on a long one. @kylienoin I'm sorry you are feeling the rush of emotion as you resume fertility treatments. It seems that no matter how long your "break" is, all that baggage just swoops right in.
@beachbunnyxo123 YESSS, FET time!!! I'm going to be rooting for your lining every step of the way!
@inthewoods23 Well done surviving the Thanksgiving participants. Awesome news about the genetic screening!
@Avrilmai Yay!!! We will be PIO buddies! (I'm supposed to start on Wednesday night.)
@kobrien827 I only needed one day off, but I think a lot of it depends on how many eggs you have and if you are at risk for OHSS.
@Swiftlet I hope the timing words out for your testing. It's always hard when you have to juggle your schedule and take time off.
@littleredm I don't have any specific advice about Femara. I'm sorry you find yourself in this space. I know IF treatments are incredibly expensive and so few of us have the luxury of treatments and medications being covered through insurance.
@crookshanks10 I hope the additional meds give you awesome results for this cycle!

@Avrilmai FX things go well at your next appointment!
@suzycupcake you started PIO before your lining check? My RE explained that they wait for your lining to get to a certain thickness and then the PIO freezes it. Glad your lining looked good!
@kobrien827 I was fortunate that I had no pain or discomfort at all. Mine was over the summer so I was out of school, but I could definitely have gone back to work the next day.
@Swiftlet FX for you!! I had a short LP (9-10 days) but took longer to O. My RE put me in progesterone during my LP and it lengthened to 14 days.
@crookshanks10 hopefully upping your dosage and adding the progesterone works!!

I hope everything goes well for you!! What are your options if your first one doesn't survive the thaw? @KristoKekerooni Thank you!! @Swiftlet Definitely different situations but my cycles were usually 28-30 days long and I was a late ovulator. Spotting started about 5dpo or later some cycles.I think the spotting was the giveaway that it was LP defect and it seems my lining just breaks down too early. Hopefully once you get more testing done, you all will be able to figure it out quickly! (: When do you go in for your next appointment? @AlohaKumu 12/4 sounds like a wonderful day! Not too far away!! @purplg8r FX for Thursday!

@crookshanks10 I see! I don’t really spot- maybe a tiny bit a few hours before full flow but I don’t think that really counts, haha:) I start 6-7 days after my first positive OPK but I suppose since I don’t temp I can try be completely certain I ovulate. RE basically said ehh, your LP is probably fine and you just ovulate earlier than you think. Which again, totally possible, but it doesn’t line ups right my EWCM and positive OPKs. Gah! So much to consider!
Has spotting always been an issue for you?
I’m expecting AF on Thurs or Friday (6-7dpo) and was told to call on CD1 to schedule baseline labs and US (I think) anywhere in the CD2-4 range, then HSG CD5-12. Just need to hold my horses another few days:)
@AlohaKumu see what things look like tomorrow!! If your doctor thinks it can get there that would be good but too much time on estrace can also lead to regression. What is your doctor leaning towards, moving forward?
@kylienoin Hope that your appointment went well yesterday. @beachbunnyxo123 So excited that you are starting this process. Feels like the waiting has taken so long now. @inthewoods23 Making the plan and moving forward is so exciting. GL! @Avrilmai Thank you! Sending you all of the positive energy and vibes for your u/s on Thursday! @suzycupcake You got this! @kobrien827 I took the day of retrieval and the day after. I probably could have gone back to work, but honestly sitting upright at a desk for any time period was rather uncomfortable for me, even on day three. So I was glad that I took the time. Sending you all the luck! @Swiftlet Hopeing everything lines up for you. @littleredm So sorry to hear that you are having a tough time right now. I totally get the added pressures when it comes to the finances. Try and do your best to relax and stay positive. @crookshanks10 Really happy to hear you are feeling more hopeful. FX that the upped dosage is doing the trick. @AlohaKumu That lining is doing great! Wonderful increase. Woohoo Dec 4th! @purplg8r FX that your lining increases and you are able to stay on track for your transfer.
I am just here sending everyone best wishes and support. Thinking of you all
@beachbunnyxo123 That was my major fear. I've already been on Estrace since Nov 30, so I didn't want to be on it so long that my lining decreased, like it did before the ERA. (That was partially because I didn't respond well to the patches, but I do very well with the oral meds.) My RE initially wanted me to just come back on Friday to see how it looked, but after I said I was okay moving forward as long as it was above 7.0, she thought about it more and agreed. She still wants to see me tomorrow to see if it's a bit thicker, but said she was okay with just calling it and scheduling the FET for next week. I've been chugging POM, eating Brazil nuts, using a heating pad, walking, taking my supplements... basically doing anything and everything that might potentially help increase my lining in 51 hours between appointments!

The option we have is to go down the list of apparently 'aneuploid' embryos and decide which we would try instead. I attached the Cooper Genomics file if you are interested. Redacted for personal identifiers. The second embryo on the list is partially mosaic, but the trisomy 19 makes it different they said because that part wasn't mosaic. The third embryo is a low level mosaic but it's trisomy 13. Those babies don't tend to live after birth and if the inner cell mass (the part they cannot biopsy) is trisomy 13, that's what will happen. Like I said, hard decisions. A lot of mixed emotions.

@littleredm I totally understand being emotional about doing an IUI. There is so much that goes into all these decisions and the process itself that sometimes it can seem overwhelming. I often times have to remind myself to just take a deep breath.
@crookshanks10 That's great that they increased your dosage for this IUI
@Swiftlet Yes, unfortunately I've always been a spotter, so at least now we know something specific to treat! Also, that is a lot to consider! Any questions?: For retrieval, did you take one or two days off work? My nurse said only one is necessary but have seen ladies on here and on google saying they felt worse the second day.
GTKY: If you could travel anywhere where would you go and why? Anywhere with those over the water huts, Figi perhaps?

@kobrien827 for both of my retrievals I took the day of the ER off. I was okay the second day, but I did heed all of the advice for the day of, rest/sleep, but when awake get up and walk around. drink electrolyte filled drinks and eat salty foods. Are you doing a frozen or fresh transfer? If you're doing frozen you can take some pain meds/more than just Tylenol if it gets too bad. I can so relate on the bruises. FX you get a date soon. As for me I'm currently scheduled for an FET on 12/4, but I will find out for sure most likely on Wednesday.

@suzycupcake I hear you on travel ingredients anywhere to relax. Most places I would love to visit would include a lot of hiking and walking to see the sights, but I would also love a warm weather vacation on the beach where I spend the entire day just laying in a chair.

I have way too many places I want to visit *sigh*

@beachbunnyxo123 YAY for things being on the move for you (:
@inthewoods23 EEK, glad to hear you survived Thanksgiving.
@littleredm I think Femara will keep you pretty on track if you're having regular natural cycles now.

@crookshanks10 I’m so glad she was on board with the request to increase. Here’s to hoping you get a great number of follies and that this cycle will be it for you guys.
@Avrilmai Do you know how many you will transfer?
Afm; lining check went okay. He says it is 10.4 and triple. Right now, we are trying to decide on a backup plan if the first aneuploid resulted embryo doesn’t survive the thaw. Decisions are hard.

(Except that time I got stuck on a ship traveling from Italy to Greece when there were pirates and fires on the surrounding ships, but that's a story for another day...)

@beachbunnyxo123 so excited for you to get started!!
@inthewoods23 yay for some good results!!

@AlohaKumu one more day till your last lining check before PIO and then it’s on!! Woohoo!!
@purplg8r hoping for good lining growth for Thursday!!
@suzycupcake your lining is definitely great especially for after PIO. How many embryos are you transferring?
@suzycupcake Thank you friend. I hope everything goes well for you!! What are your options if your first one doesn't survive the thaw?
@KristoKekerooni Thank you!!

@suzycupcake You got this!

@beachbunnyxo123 We are transferring one. The XYY.
