How far along are you? How big is baby? 20 weeks today! A banana sized babe.

How many kids do you already have? 5 y/o DD

How are your other kids doing this week? She great. She's pumped for her birthday(still two weeks away) and for Christmas, so naturally talking non-stop about those two things.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? A/S today! I'm super anxious in ways I wasn't with dd's (thanks PGAL brain) but still excited. Ready to see a healthy baby & hopefully learn their sex.

GTKY: What's your favorite Christmas Movie? Mmm, I'm a sucker for It's a Wonderful Life. Side note, rewatching the "classics" with DD has made me realize what a super asshole Santa is in Rudolph. Also, watching Christmas movies is complicated when you dont do conditional presents or the whole "naughty/nice" thing, lol.

How are your other kids doing this week? She's good, worn out yesterday from playing outside and didn't take a nap (she "rested" in her room for 1.5 hours). Hanging out with DH all day today so I'm sure she's having a blast like she always does when it's dad's day off.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? My car...dang thing is going to cost me an arm and a leg to diagnose/fix/replace tires/etc. Good thing to get it done before winter but it's a price tag I didn't want or need right now

GTKY: What's your favorite Christmas Movie? This is a tough one...maybe a classic like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer...or if I'm feeling emotional any Hallmark Christmas movie.

20 weeks, a banana/palmier cookie.

How many kids do you already have? One 4yo son.

How are your other kids doing this week? He had a blast with cousins over Thanksgiving but got waaay too much tablet/video game time. He's been throwing a few tantrums when we tell him it's time to turn it off, so it might be a few days before we have our rhythm back.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? It's been a rough holiday week for me. I had my anatomy scan today and I was hoping it would make me feel more connected to this babe, but I still feel detached. Just wishing it was warm and I didn't have to go to work.

GTKY: What's your favorite Christmas Movie? Hmm, probably The Year Without a Santa Claus or The Nightmare Before Christmas.

How are your other kids doing this week? Oldest is back to school. Thank goodness! And my youngest got a black eye on Thanksgiving after falling off a chair. Of course we had Santa pics scheduled for the following day.

Rants/Raves? I sporadically get heartburn which is annoying but nothing like with my first. I was chewing Tums like crazy.

Concerns/Questions? Still haven’t felt any flutters but I have my anatomy scan today!

How many kids do you already have? DS1, 3.5

How are your other kids doing this week? He's really trying my patience lately. He won't just go to bed and he's too obsessed with the tablet (we let him use it more than usual because we were car shopping). So....no more tablet for the time being. I also wish that I could get DC to cut out his nap so he would actually be tired at night. We put him in his room between 8:30 and 9:00, and he's still up when I go to bed at 10:30 half the time.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? Nah nothing really.

GTKY: What's your favorite Christmas Movie? This is hard for me. I literally wrote my thesis in college about Christmas films, so I have a lot of faves.

@kangstadt sorry you aren't feeling connected, I had that struggle with my daughter all the way up until I had her, we definitely love our babies but it's hard when we can't see and hold them yet.

@tumblefluff Murphy's law, those types of things always happen with pictures looming, hopefully it wasn't too bad and they won't be the focal point of pictures. Yay for your anatomy scan today! Hope all goes well.

How many kids do you already have? DD-4

How are your other kids doing this week? Rough. We put up our tree and she spent the first 2 days wanting to play with her ornament. We kept having to tell her it's home was on the tree and it wasn't a toy. She's been wanting to sit with me but we don't fit in the leather chair any more and she isn't happy about it when i tell her she can't. I need to move to sitting on the couch so she can join me but i don't find it very comfy right now.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? We decided that we are hosting Christmas again this year, which i'm not thrilled about but i feel obligated to do it. Also not looking forward to another holiday filled with yummy food i am not allowed to eat (but have to cook).

GTKY: What's your favorite Christmas Movie? Scrooge here and i don't like Christmas movies. Unless you count the Nutcracker ballet.

How are your other kids doing this week? Good. I feel you guys on the too much screen time. DD is OBSESSED with TV. literally wakes up asking for it. We don't do any TV/Tablet M-F but she still gets obsessed so we had to start limiting it more on the weekends.

How are your other kids doing this week? We started potty training on Friday. Her and I are on day 6 of 24/7 time together. Need I say more?

22 weeks/coconut tomorrow and the Bump has stopped proving me daily comparisons. For shame.

How are your other kids doing this week?
She is back to healthy just in time for us to officially move back to our house - which is a change that has her waking up at 2 am. Why.

also, last night she opened the bathroom door while I was peeing (again) and decided she was taking a shower. Tried to take off her clothes. Tried to take off mine. Banged on the shower door til I let her in to stand under not yet hot water. I could not stop laughing at how clearly she knows her own mind and how to communicate even without words.

Rave: back in our house! Rant: all our food is still at the ILs.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 20 weeks tomorrow! Mango-banana (although baby is measuring big for its gestational age...so giant banana)

How many kids do you already have? 5 yo DD, 3 yo DS

How are your other kids doing this week? TERRIBLE! Stomach flu has swept our house. Both kiddos have been taking turns being sick all week. I've been hiding in the basement and DH has been "taking care of it." I really don't want the stomach flu on top of all of my other digestive issues.

Rants/Raves? Concerns/Questions? We got our tree the day after Thanksgiving and I am slowly starting to decorate the house. Man it was way easier before I was pregnant and actually had energy to do it!

GTKY: What's your favorite Christmas Movie? The Santa Clause. I used to watch it every year growing up and it still is pretty funny.

She’s fine. Last night was a good night after traveling for thanksgiving messed up her sleep schedule. So that’s good. Except I slept 3.5 hours because pregnancy. Boo.

Rave: feeling baby boy move a lot. Rant: still 15 days until anatomy scan and I just want to speed up time.

Christmas movie: A Christmas Story or White Christmas.

Good.DD is super glad to be back at school. DS is extremely clingy

Now I have bacterial vaginitis on top of my bladder infection. Which means I have to start a second antibiotic. Also my OB thinks I have “sand stones” which are super tiny kidney stones. Hoping this round of antibiotics makes me start to feel better because I really miss working out and I hate laying around because all I do is eat!

@blueberrymomma I tested positive for bacterial vaginitis at the start of my pregnancy and haven’t been treated for it yet. I’ll have to remember to ask about that.

question for the group: DD (18 mo) has started hitting my glasses off my face and thinks it’s funny when I say “stop! STOP! That hurts mommy. No hitting, gentle hands.” She’s even a little sneaky about it, walking around my back to catch me on the other side. It makes me really angry and she totally doesn’t get that it’s not a game. How would you handle?

@lyse01 - We say no and be nice and then its all about redirection. DD is a little over 2 and we have these issues sometimes. She wants to test her boundaries.

@lyse01 I would either put her in time out when she does it or there have been times when DD tried to hit me, etc, and I would move so she couldn't do it. I would then tell her, "mommy is not going to let you do _____." That usually works the best.

@lyse01 I think it is completely reasonable to gently hold her hands and tell her firmly "I will not let you hurt me!" Make it clear that you are not laughing and that it is not fun. And then move on to something else. It sounds like she in enjoying getting a reaction from you, but isn't clear on the fact that it isn't a game.

DH wears glasses and he has been very firm from the very beginning that glasses are not for playing with.

@lyse01 I wear glasses and while DD has tried to grab them she hasn’t tried to knock them off my face. I really drilled into her that they were off limits and that mommy needs them to see. But she does like to hit occasionally and we usually try to stop her mid hit, tell her no, that it’s mean, there is no hitting allowed and try to get her to focus on something else. If she tries it again then we do the same thing but then it’s “consequence time” ie her toy gets taken away or no more cartoons etc.

Thanks ladies. Redirection and just not engaging her has kinda worked today, and we have zero experience with putting her in time out or giving other consequences (and she wouldn’t really understand anyway - especially since her preferred toy this evening is a pile of plastic cups, or a fork, or whatever she finds on a shelf...there’s no blocking everything). I’ll need another solution for when I’m on the floor and can’t get up quickly but we’ll work on that tomorrow.
