Any appointments? Questions?: weekly shot...double appt next week!
Rants/Raves?: DH keeps dumping things into our apartment even though it’s rented to someone else for the weekend and I have to keep it safe for DD, so basically my entire day is figuring out creative stacking. Stahhhhp.
Hooray for my progesterone shots coming in a different, much less painful format.
How are you feeling?: fine. Wish I felt LO move more, but I’m pretty sure I don’t because my attention is on keeping DD from killing herself.
GTKY: What is the worst Thanksgiving food? Whenever anyone suggests ham, I want to gag. I’m also generally opposed to any pasta on the table.
Any appointments? Questions?: 20 Week Anatomy ReScan today 11/20. So I had the scan today because they wanted a better view of LO's heart. They found a calcification in the LO's heart and are sending me for a Fetal Echocardiogram. I'm torn between believing them when they say that everything looks good and they just want to confirm that everything is fine and having a full on meltdown. DH keeps talking me down off the proverbial ledge but its so hard not worrying about my LO. This is a vital organ we are talking about. Heartbeat was fine at 153.
Rants/Raves?: Nope too concerned about the LO to worry about the fact that I am expecting 45 people for dinner on Thursday and there is far too much to do to be ready for it.
How are you feeling?: Fine as long as my anxiety/fear doesn't check in.
GTKY: What is the worst Thanksgiving food? Salmon, unfortunately, I can not tolerate the thought of it.
Rants/Raves?: I can feel baby’s taps all the time now! DH even felt one from the outside yesterday - I hope that means she’ll be a feisty little thing!
How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty good. Appetite is back to normal, still trying to get plenty of sleep. Feeling like I look extremely pregnant but people who don’t know me think this is how I look and are shocked to hear I’m 20 weeks. I also feel like my butt has grown significantly, so that’s not cool...
GTKY: What is the worst Thanksgiving food? Sweet potatoes/yams. I can only eat them if they are drenched in butter, brown sugar, pineapple and marshmallows.
@abbikakez I hope everything turns out ok for your baby! What a stressful experience at a less-than-ideal time of the year. ( is it ever a good time for a stressful experience )
Any appointments? Questions?: Had my anatomy scan on Thursday last week. Everything looks good, measuring 2 weeks ahead. Couldn't get all the pics the u/s tech wanted of the 4 chambers, so I get another ultrasound at my next appointment.
Rants/Raves?: Rant: Can't get my blood sugar under control, the insulin the doctor ordered is $137 every 2 weeks. DH lost his shit, and told me to put our new house up for sale. I of course told him to shove it, and got the doctor to try metformin first. $4 every month is much more manageable. Please pray it works! Raves: I'm 99% sure that I'm finally feeling the baby move! Also, my sister told me that she's pregnant and due in June! I'm so freaking excited for my little guy to have a cousin his age. My niece is going to be the best big sister (she'll be 10 in May).
How are you feeling?: I feel awesome, except for the guilt and fear over the diabetes.
GTKY: What is the worst Thanksgiving food? In my family it is the tomato soup salad. I can't even begin to describe it, since I've never tried it. We literally use it as an initiation to any significant others in our family. Every one of my aunt's husbands have had to try it, my cousin's S/O's. The only one to somehow avoid it is DH, the lucky bastard. Seriously, the thought of it makes me want to vomit. Not sure why my mom continues to make it, I'm pretty sure she and my uncle (her brother) are the only people left that eat it.
As for not specific to my family foods, green bean casserole or german potato salad.
Next appointment is Dec. 19th for another ultrasound to measure baby's head, check-up with a doctor, and another glucola test.
Rave: I'm really enjoying my ob.
I'm feeling very well. The crazy hunger I had is mostly gone, but I'm still convinced we're expecting a teenage boy. I like it when baby is transverse (across the stomach) rather than vertical. Kicks feel much better when s/he's sideways.
To me the worst Thanksgiving food is canned cranberry.
@abbikakez I hope everything is alright is your baby. I'm sure it's a lot to have on your mind right now. Kudos to you for hosting almost 50 people. That alone would cause me a lot of anxiety.
@suchagoodone my husband felt baby move for the first time this week as well. He said they feel really small to him, which was disappointing to me because sometimes they feel so uncomfortable to me. I'm still worried about later on when everyone else tells me the kicks to the ribs will hurt. Which is will be worse: kicks to the ribs or the cervix?
@aqualicious I hope the Metformin works so you don't have to spend so much on insulin. My experience with metformin is that it really helps with constipation... I kept a tube of Desitin and a pack of baby wipes with me when I was first taking it. If you haven't taken it before (I know someone besides me in this Week has), I would recommend taking it with a meal and if you have side effects, they resolve if you continue to take it regularly.
@mighty_montgomery, I have been on Metformin in the past. I’m well acquainted with the side effects. I’ll take that over giving myself shots anytime! I am hopeful it works as well, not only for the economic benefits, but because it’s a beast I’m familiar with, and I know that I can come off it once I have the meatball and get my lap band filled again.
@suchagoodone thank you praying for good news. Never a good time for stressful situations but I’m making the best of it. DH also felt the baby for the 1st time yesterday! I think he got 3 movements. I was so happy for him.
@mighty_montgomery Thank you, I hope so too! It actually went so well! In the beginning I was really on edge about everything being right but everyone just came in and made it a really wonderful night. Problem now is they want to do the holidays at my house every year now and I don’t think I want that to happen.
@kyashley1227 The reassurance is a Godsend. I used to hate that the Doctor Appointments are 4 weeks apart but with the movement now it’s much easier to deal with.
@aqualicious Congratulations Auntie! I have a family member also due in April she lives in another country and hasn’t officially announced she is pregnant so I can’t ask the due date but I’m pretty sure we are within days of each other. Such wonderful blessings for the New Year.
