I called my clinic today to remind them it's time to get started and my IVF nurse called me back. She told me to stop BCP today (originally was going to be tomorrow) and I have baseline on Monday. I've never been so jazzed to stop taking a pill, this was day 42 straight of BCP. I hope my ovaries wake back up real quick.
Hi Ladies! I'm hopping over onto the Dec FET board after our Nov FET failed. :-( We were shocked since it was a PGS tested 4AA embryo. Oh well.
Now we're deciding whether to move forward with another transfer in December or to wait until January. We're also deciding whether to do a natural transfer next. @zamora_spin -- how did you decide to do a natural transfer? Would you mind sharing why and how it works?? Have you done one before or is this your first?

@manders85-2 I’m very sorry about the failed transfer. Did your RE mention doing an ERA or do they think it’s just a fluke.
This is my first transfer. From what I understand in a natural cycle transfer you monitor with OPKs and you go in regularly for u/s and bw so the clinic can pinpoint ovulation. Then five days later they do the FET. Progesterone is added after ovulation, usually in the form of suppositories. The corpus luteum of the egg that ovulated is principally what supports the pregnancy as it would in a spontaneous pregnancy. I’ve heard of some patients using ovulation meds in natural cycle but I am just going to ovulate on my own.
Studies haven’t shown a statistically significant difference between natural cycle and medicated. My RE says they see a slight bump in natural, but of course it’s best used for patients that do not have ovulatory disorders.
In terms of choosing it - it’s what my RE recommended to try first.
Thanks for the info @zamora_spin, that's helpful. We don't have ovulation problems (well I'm not entirely regular so I guess maybe I do although never diagnosed with PCOS).... so the Doc said if we wanted to do it for our second go-around, we could. He said it's mainly just a pain when it comes to timing cause they typically try to time our transfer when our doctor is performing them on Tuesdays. Anyway, we did medicated and i handled it fine but I just hate feeling pregnant when you're not.... it was a mind f*ck this round.
@purplg8r - luckily we have 5 tested embryos left. We also have 2 that came back ' no results ' so saving those just in case. But yes, we have options for another transfer just have to figure out cost, when, etc.

@manders85-2 so sorry for your failed cycle. I saw your post in November FET and most women move right into another FET cycle without waiting. I’ve done two medicated transfers *TW* loss mentioned one was a CP the other was a blighted ovum. Started my third medicated FET but my lining didn’t respond well to the estrace so I’m going to be doing a natural stimulation cycle for this FET (based off ovulation but using stim meds to help my lining) when do you need to decide by to start?
hi all! I moved over here from November FET group. Had a transfer planned for 11/21 but it got cancelled as my lining wasn’t responding well to the estrace even though I’ve done this protocol before. switching to a natural stimulation cycle. On provera now and once I get my period I will start stim meds on day 3. Good luck to all!!
Congrats on getting started on estrogen @purplg8r and getting started! So exciting!
Thanks for the advice @beachbunnyxo123. I am still waiting on AF. I stopped endometrin on thurs and doc said AF would be here this weekend. I have to call tomorrow now to let them know.
My husband and I spoke this weekend and I think we decided to wait one month. If we tried before Xmas, it would mean not going home for the holidays since it’d mean flying. We also have to get the money together we had not been planning to spend. $5k plus meds. :-/
Anyway, we’re thinking mid-January sometime. Now of course I want to put in 2 embryos to up the chances of it working but I don’t know if the doc will let us since it’s not recommended for my age. 33. Idk. Thoughts on two embryos at this stage?

@purplg8r yay for progress!! It's always nice when things start moving again. @manders85-2 My personal thoughts are that I'll only ever do one embryo because DH and I do NOT want twins. I also like the idea of giving ever embryo it's individual chance. I've heard the second embryo doesn't improve the chances of success all that much, but I can't remember the statistics off the top of my head. But you should do whatever you're comfortable with.
AFM: I should get the final embryo report today (Day 5 post retrieval) to see how many make it to freeze. As of Saturday we had 8 in the running on day 3.
@manders85-2 I’m glad you were able to figure out what works best for you! We are OOP as well and pay 5k plus meds for a transfer cycle. It is a lot! I hope everything works out for you!
@ChristenMA83 fix for great results today! Keep us posted! Are you doing PGS testing?
@manders85-2 I hope you get a bit of a mental break and are able to enjoy your holidays. Sometimes how many to transfer comes down to a personal choice (for untested embryos) but I'm going to guess your RE will have a strong opinion that you should only transfer one PGS normal embryo. Even though you have been on the bad end of this statistic, PGS normal embryos have a 60-70% success rate, so the chance of twins is very high if you transfer two. The current trend is to try to put the patient in a position of having a singleton pregnancy because the slight bump in pregnancy rates from transferring two embryos is outweighed by the risk to the mom and the babies in a pregnancy with multiples. On top of that for some reason embryos created through IVF are also more likely to split - something like 1-2% of the time that happens, and while that doesn't seem high, it means there is a real chance for triplets or higher if you transfer two.
AFM I had my baseline this morning and everything looks good (no cysts, etc.) I'm supposed to start OPKs at home on Sunday and go in for a check on CD12 which will be next Tuesday.
Hi, ladies! I'm moving over to December. We were going to try for a transfer at the end of November, but my lining was at 6.8 today, so my RE wants to give me another week to plump up my lining. We should be doing the transfer the first week in December. I'm stoked that I'll be in December with some of my favorite Bumpies!

@AlohaKumu yas girl come on over!!! great improvement in lining for today! Fx lining is nice and thick next week and you are good to go for transfer! Woohoo!
@zamora_spin ah yay!! So excited for you to get started!!
Hello Ladies!! I recognize some of you from previous boards I pray that December is a lucky month for us! Let's spread some Christmas cheer to our uteruses! That sounded weird Anyway, I just went in for my baseline today and all went well. They wanted my lining to be less than a 5 today and it was a 3.6, so all is good. I'm scheduled to transfer on Dec 7th. I'm waiting on the nurse to call with my instructions but I should be starting my estrogen patches tonight. Fun Fun!!
All the new ladies to the group, feel free to add yourself to the December Spreadsheet if you like, it can help us keep track of one another's timing. Link is in my signature.
@kimberlyshae I think you were in the December group with me? Hi again! Christmas uterus cheer! LOL!
AFM: We had one of our 8 make it to freeze yesterday (day 5) and 4 arrested. 1 more made it today (2 total) and 1 is still in the running for a possible Day 7 freeze. Either way, we've got our December snowbaby for a mid-month transfer. I'm targeting Dec 17th since it's my mom's birthday.
@ChristenMA83 Yes, I started the whole IVF process in December of 2017 so this will be our 4th transfer. Fingers crossed that it works this time!!! December 17th sounds like a great day and it will be here before you know it!
I had to go back to the doc because they forgot to give me my Rocephin shot while doing my baseline.... YOWZERS!!! If yall think PIO shots hurt... nay nay! This was an antibiotic shot and it burned like the devil! I'm ok now. Just a heads up if anyone else has to get that shot.. be prepared for serious pain for about 30 minutes
@purplg8r because they put me on an antibiotic protocol this time. They don't know why I m/c'd last time, so they wanted to take extra precautions. However, I was supposed to be on flagyl for 2 weeks and I only lasted 2.5 days, so I'm not really on the full protocol anymore.
Hi friends! I hope you don't mind if I hang out over here, my lining check today was at 6.1 so I am either going to be the absolute last day of November, or first week of December. Looks like I will be in excellent company, though! My TTC history is in spoiler. Hoping to end this year right
ChristenMA83 I think there are two Dec chats going (IVF and FET)? Do I join in over here as soon as I have my retrieval next week? Or is there a way to combine us?
Me and DH 44 I am a genetic carrier using PGD testing Dec 2018 ER = 0 PGS normal embryos Jan 2019 ER = 1 PGD/ PGS normal embryo, 1 carrier embryo,
1 no result April 2019 Hysteroscopy to remove polyp and Fibroid May 2019 FET = BFN September 2019 FET = BFN Dec 2019 ER = 1 carrier embryo Mar ER = 0 PGS normal embryos July 2020 ER = 0 PGS normal embryos October 2020 Hysteroscopy to remove polyps Nov 2020 FET = positive (little one due July 2021)
@pgdwivf Usually I join the FET board because the IVF boards tend to slow down after everyone does retrievals and fresh transfers. The December IVF thread might keep going because I think there are several of us doing FET's. Really it's wherever you feel comfortable. I'm straddling both for now. @leilee101 HI! Another July Alumn. I'm glad to see you again, but sorry we're both still here.
AFM: We got our final update today. The end total is 2 on Ice. We'll transfer the first of those in December assuming my body cooperates.
sorry I've been MIA crazy busy with work which has been a good distraction! Hey @AlohaKumu and @leilee101 what a great group of ladies we have here. @kimberlyshae welcome to December. AFM, I had an u/s and blood work today. haven't gotten a call, so I'm going to just stick with my protocol and hope for the best. there was a spot that was concerning on my u/s today that they haven't noticed before. I'm working hard on just accepting things and plugging along. lining looked good today (with the exception of the "spot"). Signed consents today and we're still on the schedule for a transfer the first week of December.

@kimberlyshae ugh so sorry about the shot that sounds super painful but hopefully better than how the flagyl was treating you! I know I told you how it was a miracle I made it 7 days on it even though I was supposed to do it for 14, brutal! Hopefully that does the trick!
@leilee101 hey girl! definitely in great company! Glad to see you here! When’s your next scan?
@Avrilmai did they ever wind up calling you yesterday? Was the spot fluid? That happens sometimes and is usually no big deal as long as your lining is thickening.
Hi ladies - I've been lurking a little in here - but would you mind if I joined you guys properly? I'm having my FET on November 30th - so I've been in the November board, but most people have their results already there. For some reason I always seem to be at the end of the month - and I know this sounds silly - but it makes me feel I'm at 'the back of the class' in a way!! It would be so lovely to join in with people who are in the early stages I'm doing a back-to-back FET after a failed cycle in October. My full history is in my siggy (*TW losses mentioned). I'm 39, based in Ireland and this is my last embryo (untested) - so this is really it for me. Started my Crinone today (yucky!!) and doing lots of acupuncture this week - I'm really lucky in that my friend does this for me for free - plus I'm going to weekly counselling for the month. I'm basically throwing everything I can at it this time Good luck to everyone here - December just fees like a really good month

@Avrilmai hi! Did they get back to you about that spot? Hope it's nothing and doesn't throw up any roadblocks.
ugh my cycle got cancelled this weekend. My lining would not budge past 6 after 3 weeks of estrace with gradually increasing doses. I am pretty annoyed because I told my doctor at the beginning of this cycle "hey I don't think I respond well to Estrace" and he was like well you're thin so that's why. I decided today to switch doctors, the lady doctor that called me this weekend was the same one that did my egg retrieval and successful transfer. She also took the time to go over different protocols with me over the phone and I liked what she was saying. I feel like I just broke up with someone! He has been my doctor for 1.5 years now and it took him over a year to learn how to pronounce my name. I just feel like I need a change of pace..

@leilee101 hey girl! definitely in great company! Glad to see you here! When’s your next scan?
@Avrilmai did they ever wind up calling you yesterday? Was the spot fluid? That happens sometimes and is usually no big deal as long as your lining is thickening.
@ChristenMA83 yay congrats on your embabies!
@ChristenMA83 yay for 2 little ones!!
@Avrilmai hopefully they get back to you first thing in the morning!
I'm doing a back-to-back FET after a failed cycle in October. I'm basically throwing everything I can at it this time
Good luck to everyone here - December just fees like a really good month

AFM AF finally showed on Saturday went in for baseline today waiting for a callback to start FET meds tonight!
