onsie's-when did you stop using them?

DS is 27 months and i still tend to put a onsie under his clothes.  at what age did you stop using them??

Also baby #2 is due in May, what's the "rule" with onsies and summer babies??

  • I think around 2. I know she was not wearing one when PTing.

  • I use them very rarely now... I hate them mostly. But if it's really cold out, I'll put one on him as an undershirt so I can be sure he stays covered.

Summer onsies rule? didn't know there was one.. DS wore them all the time.

  • I stopped before he was a year - I never really used them as layers (except really realy  cold days his first winter). I would guess I am in the minority, though.

DS was born at the end of April and wore onesies all that summer, but just as a shirt, not layered in any way.

  • We used them until DS was potty training (so just over two).  It is too cold to not have layers in MN and that was easiest to layer with.
  • I'm thinking to stop when she's potty training.
  • I stopped last winter. I still use under shirts though.

  • she has a few onesies still, but not many. i much prefer normal shirts for her, but if something is super cute and only in onesie style then i might buy it.

not sure of any rules regarding onesies and summer babies, but DD was born in May and we live in a very hot climate and she spent a lot of time in just onesies. just remember to sunscreen em up if you go outside with their little bare legs out!

  • I stopped using onesies last summer I think.  DS was about 18 months.  Now, I just make sure to put him in layers, but I dont use onesies.

I really wonder about spring summer babies too.

  • I stopped when he was one when it was just easier to dress him in a t-shirt and pants/shorts.

I liked onesies because they didn't ride up when he was carried around but he was walking by his first birthday so he wasn't carried as much. At that point, it was easier for us to just move on to something else.

  • I stopped using them when she started walking. (around 1yo)

As a summer baby, she wore them, and only them all summer long. It wasn't until she started at daycare that I would put anything over it (pants)

  • When we started potty training- 18 months. My mom fought me on this because of cute onesies with jumpers (she buys most of her clothes), but I put my foot down and am glad I did. PT would be very hard with onesies.
  • Around 11 months. DD will not sit still during diaper changes and it made it much more difficult to keep having to snap her onsie back on during each change. So we switched to t-shirst and pants, much easier.
