I got a seriously sick satisfaction out of sending my friends and family photos of our beautiful, sunny, Mississippi day yesterday when people complained about the snow up in the NE.
I had a deli sandwich (it was toasted but clearly not fully steaming) and about two teaspoons of wine last night. I was prepping a turkey for a friendsgiving at work today, and it called for a cup of wine, which I still had in my fridge. There was less than a tablespoon left in the bottle after that. So I poured it in a dosing cup, toasted Baby, and sipped it for the next 45 minutes. I used to have 3ish ounces a night with dinner, and it would take me a solid bottle to get tipsy, so I'm not particularly concerned with any ill effects that little amount could do, since my body processed a lot more, regularly, with no issues. But it felt so naughty (and tasted sooooo good, even if it was incorrectly paired for dinner), and honestly was plenty of wine for the night...not sure I would have wanted much more anyway. But man did I savor those little teaspoons.
When I'm at work and see someone I don't particularly feel like talking to in the hallway, I pretend like I'm talking to someone on my phone. I did it yesterday as I was leaving work and saw a girl who usually talks my ear off. Leave me be!

I totally had a deli sandwich last night too. Ever since I read "Expecting Better" I'm less worried about it.
My FFFC: I worked from home today and may or may not have taken an hour nap right after lunch. Sorry not sorry? (In my defense, I was SO TIRED and also it's been a really slow day.)
I was stuck at La Guardia from 6p-2a yesterday. It also took me 3 hours in a cab to get there from DUMBO. That’s 8 miles. i got home at 3:45a
I put out all the fires I had on my plate just now and I’m dialing it in for the remainder of the day. I was just gone since Monday night. I need a break
@harrierwife if you had been in my family and sent that picture, I would probably taken you off the Christmas card list lol. Yesterday was literally the worst travel day I’ve ever had. I’ve been traveling for work consistently these last 7 years so I feel like I have a good sample size.
If we are grocery shopping and I'm buying something that DS wants RIGHT NOW I will let him eat it while I shop (the pouches of puree or something) and then just pay for it when we're checking out. I'd rather do that than let him have a melt down in store. He's 21 months old. The only thing I won't give him is produce (like a banana) because that has to be weighed so it would impact the price. But I will give him a banana immediately after it's been weighed and scanned.
I enjoy lurking the TTGP randoms thread much more than ours. Theirs is much more random and not related to pregnancy. It’s nice to escape and read there.
Yesterday there lead me down the rabbit hole of thinking about the glorious American girl doll catalogue. I never owned one, but always wanted to. I wonder if they will still be a thing when DD is a bit older.

@ncm1919 - Yeah, they weren't happy with me at all, but I did my time (33 years living in places with BRUTAL winters, including Korea!) and then actually moved like I said I would.
They all complain about the taxes, the winters, the traffic, the overall cost of living, etc. but don't do anything about it. They all make fun of Mississippi, but they all sure do love to visit!
@runyogamom I used to work as a cashier at whole foods and moms would let their kid eay a banana then give me the peel to pay for. I'm like uh no it goes by weight...
@meatballs37 I wanted one so bad! My mom would always say ok you can have one but it would be your only present or you can have multiple other things. Guess which one I always picked lol.
@meatballs37 agreed. Also, I may have ordered DD’s bitty baby for Christmas this morning 😬 we also got her some accessory stuff of amazon like a crib, stroller, and car seat for her doll. Hoping this makes her feel more involved when this baby comes.
I got an american girl doll every year for Christmas for maybe 5 years. Admittedly, my mom went way over board for Christmas every year when we were younger. She still does. But she still has all of the original boxes and if I ever have a daughter I want to send them away to get their hair fixed again and gift them to her over the years. Hopefully any future potential daughter of mine likes dolls as much as I did.
My grandparents gave me an American Girl doll every year from the time I was 5 until the time I was about 14. I still have all of them. Those are the ones that my daughter will be getting for Christmas in a couple years.
I’m normally a “wait till after Thanksgiving” person, but I’ve been in such a funk recently that I pulled out the Christmas music last night. Snapped my mood right out of it. Feeling so much better and more motivated with it on.
When I was little, I used to tell my parents that my stomach didn’t feel well so that they would give me Pepto. I LOVED the taste.

SAME. I'm not a huge fan of the black-hole of time between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
@srscott3 We got DD a bitty baby for Xmas last year. I was a little disappointing with the quality for the price. Let me know what you think. The body is made out of cloth which I thought was weird.

I wanted an American Girl doll so much when I was a kid, too. I read as many of the books as I could get my hands on, and my parents gladly bought me lots of books, but they never splurged on a doll. If I have a daughter, it’ll definitely be something I’ll want to get her.
I got an American doll for the first time when I was 11 because it was expensive for us. I am pretty sure I played with that doll till I was 18. Once I feel my daughter can appreciate it and care for her doll we are planning a full on trip to the American doll store and make a huge deal of it. Back when I was childless and worked close to that store I used to get a pang of jealousy watching moms and their daughters coming out of the store. I truly hoped I’d have a chance to share that experience with my own daughter.
My other confession: I’m super jealous of all of you who had a doll. I never got one. I always really wanted Samantha.

@canuckbaby your grocery store is brilliant. Our community market does that but I don't go there often anymore. It's farther and has less of a selection that Walmart. Although I greatly dislike Walmart.
Additional FFFC: I've spent the majority (read: all of it) of my work day on the bump or shopping/picking out Christmas gifts because work is super slow today.
My sister and I each had two American Girl dolls (she had Kirsten and Samantha, I had Molly and Felicity). All four live at my mom's house, and my niece (who is almost 5) gets to play with her mom's dolls, but not mine unless I'm there (so whenever we're all there she BEGS me to play with them with her, which I still love to do). Mom made the guest room into a whole American Girl world. It's precious. And actually, if we have a second daughter, she'll be named after Felicity the doll.
@harrierwife I was soooo tempted to do the same thing. It's so beautiful here, snow doesn’t even seem possible 😂 plus they all complain about EVERY SEASON And everything else. If you hate it so much, move like I did! I guess that’s my FFFC? I don’t understand living somewhere you hate (unless you have to for like, military or a specific job or something. But no one I’m thinking of is trapped where they are) I have moved a lot, all to find a perfect place to live. And yeah it sucks sometimes to not have family here, but that is nothing compared to the suck of where I would be if I lived near family.

@tuxielove93 - I completely agree with you. They complain about the Spring, Summer and Fall, too!
I'm in Mississippi thanks to the military - and we won't stay here - but damn, I'm really enjoying it. So much so that MH and I have said that we're staying south of TN when he gets out.
I'm originally from NJ and my family all still lives there. My husband is from the high desert in Cali and his family all still lives there. We moved around the country when he was active duty and opted to settle in central/eastern Washington (Tri-Cities area). Both our families constantly complain about issues with NJ and CA but then wonder why we didn't want to settle our family in either state. No thanks, we're good! We hate it there too lol!
My FFFC - We have/had conferences this afternoon, all day Monday, and Tuesday afternoon. I'm a specialist (resource room) so I don't have to schedule any but can attend ones for my students. Between recent meeting and such I only have a few conferences I am going to attend because I just saw most of my case load's parents. I have literally done nothing since my last group ended at 11am. I'll be out of here in 20 minutes and plan on doing nothing all day Monday either!
I'm starting to wear maternity pants already. I gain a little bit before the bfp so my pants were already tight and only one pair fits now. I feel oddly guilty for wearing them so soon.
My work selected me to be the lead home visitor working on and carrying out a special federal project our agency is participating in. This includes a trip to DC for training and the national home visiting summit. They also offered me the opportunity to fly in a day early to explore dc. So I will be in DC for 8 days. I am so excited for the opportunity!!!! Buuuuuuttttt I’m pregnant and I haven’t told them. I feel guilty accepting this knowing i’ll be gone on maternity leave for 3 months. I’m not going to tell them I’m pregnant until my 4th month *TW* I just went through a miscarriage so it makes sense to wait to tell them *endTW*. I just feel a little guilty.
@jhems776 I’m already wearing maternity pants, too. My other pants still fit, but the buttons are uncomfortable on my stomach, so I’ve just pretty much given up on wearing them.
@antera23 meh, don't feel guilty, you deserved it, obviously! I'm in DC, so let me know if you have questions...
@jhems776 I've been in maternity jeans for three weeks now. No shame.
As for my confession, I have been leaving work early all week because I'm still waking up at 5am (and logging on to my work computer) and by 3 or 4pm I'm totally useless. I'm more than lucky in that my boss doesn't care where we are as long as the work doesn't suffer, but I know coworkers have noticed. Oh well...
@runyogamom I do that too with my daughter. Luckily one of our local stores has a "free fruit for the kids" bin right when you walk in. it has bananas and apples so we always grab her a banana.
My confession: My inlaws have been giving me extra attention and care since I am pregnant (they did with my first pregnancy too)....like dropping me off food and stuff....and I am totally enjoying it lol. I will not turn down free food, especially when I don't have to cook. The other day MIL came over and I was cleaning and she told me to go rest on the couch and washed my dishes and cleaned up my kitchen for me and made me soup.....so yea I did not tell her no....I sat my butt right on the couch and enjoyed the break
@BlondePeanut my brother in law lives with us and he will legit do things for me just cause I am preggers. Hes a thoughtful 22 year old at the best of times but hes even more on top of things due to my "condition". Love him to bits
IDK about everywhere but at least here in Alaska, Fred Meyer (which is Kroger in some parts of the US) has a display offering a "free healthy snack" for your kids with bananas and mandarins/cuties/whatever-small-orange. It's great! D gets one every time we're at the store.
Confession: I'm waiting for CVS test results and it's been 3.5 business days (test was last Wednesday late afternoon). I have emailed twice, left a voice mail and left a message with the front desk, asking for someone to call me with results. I may be turning into a crazy pregnant lady.
