Re: Week 3 Check In 11/12-11/18

  • Due date: 3/17

Any appointments? not until next week

    Questions?: none at the moment

Rants/Raves?: my only rant for the moment is the impending snow on the horizon this week. I do not like driving in snow at all,and was hoping it could at least hold off until December. I don't like this in regular situations, and now that I am pregnant, I will not be hesitating to use my PTO and stay at home. Missourians cannot drive LOL and i am not taking any chances.

How are you feeling?: physically ok, mentally not good. Trying to keep in good spirits...but I think that me and my SO are about to be on the outs....We have been together off and on about 5 years...so obviously have had our issues...but i am a bit emotional because who wants to be single and pregnant. We are still together right now....but i feel like it wont be long....we went to therapy together once we found out i was pregnant and the therapist told me at a solo appt that she feels that he loves me as much as he can, but emotionally he is immature and not ready for any type of relationship...which wasn't a HUGE shock, but you know that woman sometimes like to be hopeful. I am at a point where i am sad...but also tired of the emotional circus. Disappointed in doing this again, and though i know in the end my 9YO son will be ok, i'm sad because this is the only father type figure he has had and i know that he is going to be upset about it.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? Grey's Anatomy still gives me life every week...my other current fave is 911...obviously i love drama *eye roll* LOL

  • @zionsmama85 I’m sorry your relationship is rocky right now. You have to do what’s best for you and your kids’ well being. And who is to say that your SO won’t mature in the next few years and you can give it another try if it feels right at the time. Ultimately you need a partner and if that’s not what you are getting in the relationship then it sounds like the right decision. It doesn’t make the breakup any easier or less stressful though.

    Due date: 3/20

Any appointments? Not until the end of the month.

    Questions?: Nope.

Rants/Raves?: It’s been a long week and a half, but luckily DH comes home Thursday. I had a bit of a breakdown Saturday trying to prioritize my to do list, none of which was really important but all of which felt overwhelming at the time, as well as DD raking my last nerve. Now I think she wasn’t feeling well because she’s come down with a cough and says her throat hurts and has been clumsier and more easily brought to tears than normal. Thinking about doing all this with 2 kids and with MH deployed for months definitely gave me a minor “WTF did I get myself into?!” moment.

How are you feeling?: Tired and irritable.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? We just finished Man in the High Castle and This is Us is my guilty pleasure.

  •  Due date: March 21

Any appointments? Monthly check-up this Thursday

Questions?: Has anyone gone to prenatal breastfeeding classes with a lactation consultant? Was the class helpful?

Rants/Raves?: Rave: feeling baby girl at least once a day now. Rant: I still haven't done any purchasing of baby items.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good!

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? I don't watch a lot of TV shows consistently, but I like The Good Place, and I am looking forward to the new seasons of The Crown and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
  • @karatepickles I went to a breastfeeding class with DD1. We actually won a suite of classes at the hospital tour so I did more classes than the average FTM. I thought it was informative but DH felt he didn’t need to be there even though I think it helped him to know what to expect and he even reminded me what I needed to do once DD1 was born. That said, it’s probably all things you could learn on your own, through “the womanly art of breastfeeding” or attending a La Leche League Meeting, but if you learn better from a formal class, I’d recommend one.

  • @meggyme thank you so much! I will check out the book. I could absolutely see how a class or consultant could assist once the baby is here but I am having difficulty justifying the expense at this stage.
  • @karatepickles learning how to get started can be tricky, because getting a bad latch HURTS. Knowing a couple different positions helps too. Most birth classes touch on it too and depending on the hospital LC’s hours you might be able to get a constant right away. I’m sure the nurses can help too.

  • Due date: 3/22

Any appointments? Had my anatomy scan this morning with high risk/MFM.  Dr. said baby boy looks perfect and is hopeful I won't have the same issues as my first pregnancy.  We were so happy to hear both of these things.

Questions?:  Is it pretty standard that hospitals don't allow visitors under 18 including siblings during flu season?  I am hearing that about my hospital (and several others in the area) and am a little bummed DD won't be able to come to the hospital.

Rants/Raves: Rant: we can't come up with a name.  Like at all.  Boy names are so hard.  Rave: were just so happy with how the A/S scan went today.  Check out the u/s of him doing yoga/folded up like a taco.

How are you feeling?: Fat.  I've gained an obscene amount of weight.  Otherwise ok.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now?  We just finished The Haunting of Hill House and it was so good!  We're bummed its over and only 1 season.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lindseyb918 thanks for that!

@lisee923 no kids under 18 seems a little extreme. I’ll have to ask about that.

  • Due date: 3/19

Any appointments? AS today and everything looked good. I was just so relieved that everything was fine that I forgot to be mad that we're having another boy ;)

    Questions?: Nope!

Rants/Raves?: Stretch marks popped up today. I haven't been using my cocoa butter. Darn!!!

How are you feeling?: I'm suddenly feeling very guilty that I have nothing ready so far. I don't even know where this baby is sleeping. On my last BMB, one of the women had her baby at 24 wks, which was a huge wake-up call to get stuff ready. I need at least newborn clothes, diapers, a place for baby to sleep, and my hospital bag. Also they said I'm measuring 22w1d (so EDD like 3/18) vs my dating scan (EDD 3/28), so I feel like I lost almost two weeks of prep time lol

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? I love Are You the One on MTV. Perfect combination of trash TV and strategy haha
  • @zionsmama85 I'm so sorry you're going through this right now! Pregnancy is such a tough time for relationships. You definitely have baby's best interest at heart and will do the right thing for your family!
  • @lindseyb918 If any of us have our babies as early as 24 weeks, there is pretty much guaranteed to be NICU time unfortunately. While baby may be here it would still be a long time before the house needed to be ready for them and I'm sure family and friends would be more than willing to help if that were the case.

I'm mostly ready besides some diapers and pulling things out of storage. I made a registry of random things I want to replace, like new pacifiers and new bottle nipples, etc. Probably after we hit 3rd Tri I'll start pulling out the newborn clothes and getting them organized. My biggest concern right now is the transition for DD1, so I'm trying to take my time with pulling the things I need out of her room. So far the crib is out, but I need to swipe the glider and I'm undecided about the dresser/changing table. I don't want to steal all her furniture, but I also don't want to buy anything new either. I might use the pack and play as a dresser/changer until we move next summer.

  • @zionsmama85 I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through that. Breakups are tough even when there are no kids or pregnancy involved. But I'm sure you will get through it and will be a strong role model for both of your LOs. Keep us posted on how you're doing.

@lisee923 it looks like they caught him mid-somersault! Adorable!

    Due date: 21 March

Any appointments? Yesterday - still a relief to hear the heartbeat every time! Even though I can feel her kick now.

    Questions?: nope

Rants/Raves?: LOVE feeling her kick, it's starting to become more consistent and I can even feel her in the center sometimes (I have an anterior placenta, so it had previously only been low and on the sides). My husband can feel her too now! It blows my mind that there is a little person growing inside me. I think it really weirds my husband out, but I'm obsessed.

How are you feeling?: Great. Some congestion, wake up a lot, etc, but really nothing to complain about, must be experiencing the second trimester bliss.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? We are blowing through Downton Abbey. My husband has been trying to convince me to watch it for years, but I've never been a big TV person and never felt I had time. But now that we're both finished our masters' and neither of us is deployed, we've had a lot of free evenings and I don't even notice that the episodes are an hour long. I'm super into it, and I think I've cried during the past three or so, darn pregnancy hormones!!
  • Due date: 3/18

Any appointments? Finally had my AS on Monday. It was so exciting to see our little guy. He was all folded up and sitting far back in my uterus. I found out I have an anterior placenta so that would explain why I'm not feeling him that much and it's still just tickles and not really feeling like kicks yet. Next appointment is December 4th.

    Questions?: nope

Rants/Raves?: I'm happy that everything looked good at the AS. Rant: I'm hungry all the time and that worries me because I'm not working out like I was before I was pregnant.

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling really good. I'm honestly not feeling that pregnant yet, so I'm just trying to enjoy that while it lasts.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? I'm not that into TV because I usually fall asleep, but we've been watching Man in the High Castle.
  • @lisee923 The hospital we’re delivering at has a similar policy during flu season. I totally forgot about it and now I’m slightly freaking out about not being able to see the girls til we’re released. 😕

    Due date: 3/23

Any appointments? Another ultrasound on Friday cause the radiologist wants a better picture of baby’s heart

    Questions?: nope

Rants/Raves?: Love feeling the baby move and I’m super excited about having a boy. Also really thankful we settled on a name already.

How are you feeling?: I pee allllll the time. I’m over it.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? Blue Bloods
  • @meggyme I know I wouldn't be able to take the baby home for a few more months, I just hate the feeling of being unprepared, major anxiety! I agree it's tough trying to transition a toddler while trying to prep for the new baby. We're putting the new baby in DS's room after 6 months and moving DS to the basement :( it just sounds mean!
  • Due date: 3/17

Any appointments? Follow up on my anatomy scan tomorrow. I did the A/S at 18 weeks and they couldn't see her heart or spine clearly enough, so I'm going back tomorrow.

Questions?: I don't think I have any at the moment.

Rants/Raves?:  Rant is that I feel like crap. I was traveling last week for work and have to take anti-malaria pills, and they're messing with my stomach. Additional rant is that my thyroid is still jacked - was hypothyroid for the first few months, leveled off, then my doc wanted to change the type of medication I take, and now I'm hyperthyroid, and getting worse even though my doctor decreased my dosage last month. Rave is that I had a really good trip - saw some old staff I hadn't seen in several years and it was great to catch up with them.

How are you feeling?:  See above. I felt fine over the weekend but I've felt pretty crappy the past few days.

GTKY: What is your favorite tv show right now? I've been binge watching The Great British Baking Show. It makes me want to bake all day, except that my stomach is weird so eating isn't actually that appealing right now.
