Any appointments? Questions?: Had a second ultrasound and in-depth appointment with my midwife on Friday. Baby looks great and is measuring right on track so that was a huge relief. Turns out my insurance will cover NIPT or NT+blood screening but not both. I’m conflicted about which to choose.
Rants/Raves?: migraines are killing me with all the smoke from the whole state being on fire. But BF has really been stepping up and taking care of cooking/cleaning so that’s a blessing.
How are you feeling?: TBH, not any better yet. I’m really hoping my energy and appetite will come back soon.
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Live alone. I know so many people who accept poor treatment from their SOs because they are scared to be on their own/be independent. Plus, it’s a great way to really get to know yourself and what you need to be happy.
Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is 11/20 for my NT scan and then with the midwife afterwards
How are you feeling?: Tired. Thankfully the all day sickness is easing up
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Oh this is a good one...nothing crazy but I think everyone should take a trip alone. Not with friends, significant other, family, kids. Doesn’t have to be long, just a weekend. It’s really fun to get out and explore on your own
@nmbrcrnchr1 thanks for starting this on a Sunday!
@TJtheGoat I'm sorry you are dealing with the pollution. We have family who have evacuated to other family in LA and are supposed to visit them all for Thanksgiving but I'm a bit concerned about sit quality even then... It's been so difficult to read about all the destruction and loss.
@Erin1510 glad to hear you're a bit less sick. We are getting there (toward second tri)!

Due date/W+D: June 2, 11w
Baby is the size of a(n): fig
Any appointments? Questions?: Another U/S this week Wednesday to hopefully be followed immediately by a CVS. It was originally scheduled for last week but the doctor wanted the placenta to grow a bit more.
Rants/Raves?: I can see the light at the end of the first trimester tunnel. My energy was a lot better yesterday although I still crashed at 9pm and am up at 5:30...
How are you feeling?: physically getting better slowly but I'm very nervous about the CVS and (especially) results.
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Swim in the Mediterranean (or another calm and shark free body of salt water). When I'm swimming, especially under water, every cell in my body is content and I become convinced that humans evolved from water creatures.
I've lived and traveled alone and totally agree those are wonderful, liberating things to do.
Baby is the size of a: Strawberry (and apparently also a chocolate truffle lol)
Any appointments: Next prenatal appointment isn’t until the first week of December, but I need to book an us and bloodwork for some additional screening (Down’s, Spina Bifida); apparently this is the new recommended screening in Ontario, and H and I would rather know in advance if there will be extra challenges we need to prepare for. Need to do the tests before I hit 13 weeks, so I need to get that set up soon.
Rants/Raves: Annoyed that my doctor gave me no “don’t eat these things, don’t do this, make sure you do that” at my first prenatal appointment. I don’t know if that’s normal or if he just assumes the info is all available elsewhere, or if that was a result of him having a bad afternoon.
Somewhat frustrated with my MIL for implying that we absolutely have to tell H’s grandparents about the pregnancy before we tell everyone else. Yes of course we’re excited to tell them, but they’re leaving for the winter next weekend so now I’m stressing out trying to figure out how we can see them in the 3 days we’re all home. Also I’m pretty sure it’s up to us to decide who we tell when...
And sort of kicking myself for telling H that he should absolutely golf with his dad every day that we’re in Florida. That’s vacation for him, but it means I’m not spending as much time with him. Dumb move on my part.
How are you feeling?: Still mostly good, but tired. I have an old lady bed time and it’s awesome.
GTKY: 100% agree with living and travelling alone. I thought I would hate living alone, but it was the best thing for me at that point in my life.
Also, try something you think you might really fail at. You’ll either surprise yourself and actually be good at it, or you’ll learn something important about yourself.
Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is 11/27 for my NT ultrasound! Kind of nervous!
How are you feeling?: I think I’m getting some of my energy back and my nausea and the vomiting is easing up a fair amount which is super exciting!
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? This is probably cheesy and maybe idealistic... but I think everyone should fall in love at least once. Even if it doesn’t last or they end up not wanting to stay with someone for the long term. Or it doesn’t have to necessarily be romantic love. But there’s something about loving someone else that I think is an important memory and experience to have
@lmcw totally agree with trying something even if you fail and maybe especially if you fail. It’s so important to learn that failing usually isn’t as bad as it seems and sometimes leads to new and better opportunities
Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is my NT ultrasound
Rants/Raves?: I’m starting to feel anxious waiting for my NIPT test results.....
How are you feeling?: I’m hanging in there. Still nauseous nonstop Vomiting throughout the day.
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? If they can swing it, traveling abroad. It does so much for the mind and soul.
Any appointments? Questions?: My first appointment with my new midwife is Friday. I should be getting my NIPT blood draw that day, as well.
Rants/Raves?: Not sure if it's related to pregnancy hormones or just normal life stress, but I'm having a hard time emotionally this week. Getting super stressed about money/affording daycare and figuring out where to put stuff for baby. Our apartment seemed so big when it was just the two of us, but now that I'm trying to figure out how to fit a crib and toys and all the other stuff that baby needs and yet still have room for the cat boxes and their scratching posts and, and, and... Ugh, it's just a lot bouncing around in my head right now. On the plus side, today is a holiday, so at least I have the day off.
How are you feeling?: Aside from the emotional/anxiety stuff I mentioned above, it's actually been a rough week symptoms-wise. Been having headaches and increasing morning sickness (feel like that's the opposite of everyone else who is starting to feel better). I vomited for the first time yesterday while we were en route to visiting a friend - think it was a combination of morning sickness, my headache, and the long drive. But I barely made it to the gas station bathroom in time.
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Like a few other folks, I think that everyone (if they are able, of course - I realize that it's a bit of a privilege) should live alone. I learned so much about myself when I did.
@marijaa333 lol that would be out of my comfort zone too, but I highly doubt you’ll fail at it!
@chrssyms I feel like people avoid things they might fail at just because it’s sucks, but failure is an unavoidable part of life! It can teach you a lot though. Heck, I felt like I was “failing” at getting pregnant (which I know is crazy, it takes 2 people and a multitude of factors to make that happen) and that period of time taught me a lot about my relationship and my faith, and in the end it all worked out.
@ellem29 hey nice due date I hear you on the traffic-induced nausea. I’ve been pretty lucky but driving in stop and go traffic, especially as a passenger, is brutal. It gives me a headache at the best of times, and has been making me feel awful the last few weeks. I’m keeping a couple of the big ziploc bags in my car juuuust in case lol
Any appointments? Questions?: I had an appointment this morning, first at the OB after being seen by my RE the past few weeks. It went OK, but they said the space at the back of the neck was a little thicker than normal so they will refer me to a fetal specialist to take a closer look, decide if they recommend CVS/amnio, etc. In the meantime, got the Panorama test and will try not to worry too much. I will relish in seeing our little babe waving at us this morning.
Rants/Raves?: Excited that Thanksgiving is coming up, it might be my favorite holiday.
How are you feeling?: So tired today...good thing work is slow and I can leave early.
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Travel to another country, there is so much to see in the world
Any appointments? Questions?: Tomorrow is my first appointment with the OB. Had a good US at 8 wks with the GYN. This next one is a big milestone for me bc I had a MMC around this time during my first pregnancy. Just praying for a good US!
Rants/Raves?: Waking up 3 times a night to use the bathroom Anyone else having round ligament pain already?
How are you feeling?: Nervous for tomorrow's appt! Excited for Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law is also pregnant (due in Jan) so I'm planning a baby shower for her
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Make friends with people who are different from you and come from different backgrounds. It goes a long way to increase our understanding and empathy of others.
Any appointments? Questions?: NT bloods yesterday and scan on the 26th. Next OB appointment on the 29th. Not sure if it can wait that long, but I’ve recently started getting depressed again (I’ve had major depression my whole life but it has been well managed with mindfulness and no medication) and it’s really starting to get to me. I kicked my partner out of the house (for the short term) because everything he did (or didn’t do) drove me up the wall. Please tell me this is all just pregnancy hormones and it’ll get better, not that my relationship is doomed. I’m really starting to get upset and nervous about the whole situation.
Rants/Raves?: every time I act on any sexual arousal I cramp up and end up curled in the foetal position. It sucks so much 😭
How are you feeling?: feeling you @ellem29! I’ve been feeling so sick this week and even though I haven’t vomited, I’ve puked in my mouth more than once. Other than that I’ve just generally been feeling pretty down in the dumps.
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Eat a pavlova topped with freshly whipped cream, strawberries, blueberries and passionfruit drizzle 🤤🤤🤤
Any appointments? Questions?: *TWs* I had spotting/some bleeding on Friday that I posted about and had my hcg levels checked Friday and Monday. Between Friday and Monday they dropped. Yesterday I got the call from my doctors office and had an ultrasound yesterday to see if baby still had a heartbeat. Turns out baby was perfectly fine. Such a relief. But they discovered my placenta is covering the cervix. So, I have a low lying placenta and am on pelvic rest until 20 weeks when they check it again. End *TWs*
Rants/Raves?: Rave: thrilled that I had an ultrasound yesterday and baby is doing really well.
How are you feeling?: Exhausted. I can hardly function when I get home from work. Let alone take care of our toddler. Thank God for MH. The morning sickness is starting to back off and I feel better at some points of the day and just have a sour stomach the rest of the time. It's the worst after dinner usually.
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? I think everyone should work in some type of customer service/waitress/cashier position. I was a cashier at a Home and Garden store after high school during summer breaks and it taught me so much respect for the people who have to handle other people's problems.
@runyogamom glad you got good news at your latest appointment. My BF's SIL had placenta previa in her last pregnancy and she was on rest, too. The good news for her is that it totally resolved itself and the rest of her pregnancy was super normal and she delivered her baby at term. So it was all good! Take care of yourself!
@runyogamom Glad to her you are ok, and I totally agree with what customer service jobs can teach us. I learned so much working at a coffee shop during high school.
Any appointments? Questions?: appointment on Friday. Not sure what’s happening, may just be a pee and poke test but I can’t remember
Rants/Raves?: my husband has been my hero for always keeping me calm when I have to pee RIGHT NOW! Even on the road
How are you feeling?: tired. off balance. Baby stuff is great, my own health not so much
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Ask out that person you think is attractive because you’re more than good enough for them and you can help them grow and learn just as they can help you.
Due date/W+D: Due date is June 4th, 2019! I am 11 weeks, 4 days preggers!
Baby is the size of a(n): lime, I think there are two limes in me!
Any appointments? Questions?: Appointment November 27th! I swear I'm pregnant but at the ER at 9 weeks pregnant, they didn't see anything on the ultrasound. I was on a medication that has high protein binding capabilities so I think that's why my blood test came up negative. 😞 Anyone else have a negative ultrasound & blood test but swore they were pregnant?
Rants/Raves?: I needed water, coffee, coke, & sweet tea all at once! My man is going through more pregnancy symptoms than me!
How are you feeling?: I feel the best I've ever felt!
GTKY: What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Take a free course in Pranic Healing!
@haizydaze have you had an appointment with an OB? At 9 weeks both a blood test and an US would be positive if you are in fact pregnant, you would be able to see the heartbeat on a 9 week US. I’d recommend setting up an appointment with an OB.
