Has anyone went in for first prenatal & saw an empty sac???

in 1st Trimester
I went in for my first prenatal check up yesterday which I hit 9weeks yesterday as well. The visit was intense rollercoaster ride, after being otp w my insurance & my chosen hospital for over an hour each being sure of what my copay would be , I was told 3 different things “it’s your first, so it’s free!” “You have a $25 copay” “You’re copay can be billed,” to get there & have a SEVENTY FIVE DOLLAR COPAY . I immediately started crying but they did see me. It got worst when I looked at the screen & saw a black circle ... a completely black circle... I started tearing up before the dr said anything. As she wrapped up she explained the 4 VERY faint dots indicate I’m either waaaay earlier than expected ... orr & that’s when i started bawling , I couldn’t even let her get it out .. or I may be miscarrying & my body doesn’t know it yet. Please I’ve done tons of research & I know this could go any way, I’m just extremely worried & do not want to cause a miscarriage if one hasn’t already begun so I just ask for stories & testimonies of triumph , how did you cope after hearing such news, how to stay positive , how many weeks you thought you were vs how many you actually were, the sex of your baby & if he or she is happy healthy & here today & how old he or she is now. Thanks in advance.

    Hey love, 

    So sorry that you are going thru this roller coaster of emotions.  I have been thru it myself.  Unfortunately when I went in for a 6 week ultra sound I also had an empty sac, it ended in M/C.  I will pray for you and your little bean to just be earlier than expected.

    When I went in for my first U/S this pregnancy I was only 5W and a few days and they they saw was a sac. I went back two weeks later and saw the heartbeat!!! Are you sure you were 9 weeks along? I thought I was further along than I was.

    I’m hoping my ovulating was later than expected & my story goes like yours, so happy you heard your babies heartbeat!

    UPDATE: I went into the ER today & although I swore I saw something on the screen the doc told me no , my hcg level was over 26000 so he’s saying he should be able to see something by now & to prepare to blighted ovum m/c . I was distraught but after researching misdiagnosed blighted ovums & learning researchers in UK say not to diagnose BO until sac is 25mm & still empty , I’m keeping hope.. my sac is 16mm so thanks for all the responses I’ve received so far & the best wishes

    Another Update Incase anyone finds this in the future. I am very depressed, my doc has told me to prepare for miscarriage because my hcg levels dropped from 26000 to 23000 in a few days.. I am so heartbroken but everyone is telling me to keep hope alive, my dr is saying there is no way this will be a normal pregnancy, I’m not sure if this a matter of the mind thing but I don’t even feel pregnant anymore & she says I should because my levels are still very high just dropping at a fast rate which is no good. I’m hoping for a miracle but it just seems like a further let down at this point. (Today is Saturday , all of that happened from Monday-Wednesday) yesterday I had brown spotting for about 2 hours but when I called a nurse informed me that was not miscarriage but just bleeding from intercourse. I have an option to pass naturally, take a pill or have a d&c done I am most definitely against the d&c but she’s saying if it doesn’t pass by 11/14 I will need to take the pill to not harm & infect myself. I already have an ultrasound for 11/7 I’m keeping & praying to hear my babies heartbeat then, although it already feels all hope is lost.. I will keep this updated no matter how hard. It has been very depressing to see pregnant women & children all around me & for that I have tried to stay away from my bump app but it’s very saddening to see so many women went thru this exact thing & never updated their forums w good or bad news.     Praying for a wonderful outcome for you. So many of us here have experienced a loss and understand that heartbreak. Try to take things one day at a time and give yourself time and space to rest.

    Update as promised. I went in for another u/s today . Sac has not grown in size .. still no baby . The dr says being that it’s so small I should pass naturally & not need d&c . I had 2 drips of red blood Monday & a few more drips today (wednsday) he says the bleeding should just progress over time. I’m very distraught but have cried a lot up til today so I feel all cried out . Extremely drained. My best wishes to anyone who finds this in the future & I hope & pray you have different a outcome.. he did say this wasn’t my fault & means I can get pregnant which didn’t make me feel any better at all ... but hopefully someone in the future going thru this can find comfort knowing they can get pregnant. :'(

    @tessabree I am so sorry to hear this.  Please take care of yourself and the doctor is right - it is not your fault.  There is nothing you did, or didn't do, that caused this.  Be easy on yourself in these coming days.
