5 months after C-section pregnant , possible twins.

Hello everyone,  I did not know where to post my question so I posted on high risk but didn't get any responses. Here it is.
I am terrified. I had my third baby and first csection in May .however now I found I am pregnant .the doctor said it might be twins. And I am so afraid because I hear there are risks with having another baby so close together. I have already 4,2.5 and almost 6month old. What makes me even more afraid is that if its confirmed twins, I would be bigger , I am afraid of the scars opening. Has anyone had this experience. Thank you so much. I just want healthy babies. Thank you in advance for your response.

  • I’d suggest bringing this up with your doctor. It’s ok to be concerned and having babies so close together, especially a high risk pregnancy like twins which does carry risks. But unless you are going to terminate the pregnancy (no judgement if you are, but you posted here so I assume that’s not your intention) what can you really do... talk to your doc, try to put your mind at ease, especially since you don’t have confirmed twins yet, and don’t worry about things that might happen until they are a reality.

  • Was your doctor concerned when you went in? M midwife recommended waiting 18 months to conceive after my c section but my goal is to have a VBAC.
  • Thank you so much
  • He said my uterus was very thick, he didn't seem concerned but he said we will check back in two weeks
  • I became pregnant 3 month PP following a c section. DD is now 16 months and DS is almost 5 months. My OB was okay with me trying for VBAC if I went into spontaneous labor on my own, but not attempt another induction (high risk for other reason and induced before 39 weeks). I started to develope pre-e so I had a repeat c section at 37+2. My recover the second time around was actually was easier than the first time. No complications from having pregnancies so close together but I definitely echo was PP said to talk to your OB about your specific case.
  • Doctors generally advise to wait 12-18 months after a CS to conceive again, but tons of women have found themselves pregnant before that and it is usually fine.  Twins are another complication, but you don't even have confirmation of twins yet (why does the dr think it's twins?  Is that based on an ultrasound or just HCG numbers?). I work with a woman whose kids are 11 months apart and both were CS.  You may not be favorable for a VBAC but you're pregnant now so there's not much you can do other than hope for the best unless you are considering termination.

FWIW my youngest kids are 15 months apart.  I delivered vaginally, but the doctor warned me that pregnancies that close together carry an increased risk of preterm labor.  But even with that risk, my youngest stayed in a full week longer than either of the other two.  You just never know.
