Re: November Randoms

  • How is it November?! I dont understand.

  • Saaaaame. I'm not sure how my newborn from last week is 7 months old now.
  • If anyone needs a carseat, target has graco 50% off today only for a black Friday preview. I just bought the graco forever all in 1 for $164.
  • On a different note we were rocking out this morning in the school drop off lines! Who’s with me?
  • @sgrn18 Good looks!  We are buying a second car and were in the market for a car seat - woo!

@mmom3 I started reading N Christmas books last week and singing her Christmas songs yesterday!  I usually don't do Christmas-y things until after Thanksgiving, but I feel like I have to start now so N will be excited when it's actually Christmas time!
  • I don’t like Christmas until after Thanksgiving. Tonight I had to listen to my 10 year old hammer jolly old st Nicholas out on his baritone and it didn’t help.

  • @megpeg I am also a proponent for waiting until after Thanksgiving. But the day after, it's on.
  • I used to be the same way but the kids excitement is contagious!
  • Declan is spending his first night away at my moms tonight with my five year old. So it’s just me, DH and the 10 year old tonight. We figured we better try it out before I go to Mexico in a couple months.

  • @megpeg hope everything goes seamlessly and you guys can relax!
  • I have no idea what is going on. The past 4-5 days I have not been able to keep up with LOs intake. He usually takes about 24-28 oz a day (bigger bottle before bed) and sleeps through the night (usually he wakes up 1 or 2 times and is pretty easy to get back to sleep, no food).  Well these past few days he has taken 36+ oz per day and currently (3am) making him another bottle because he is screaming like Im starving him and his dog. Same thing last night and he downed 5 oz at 3am and passed out for the rest of the night.  Is this a growth spurt? I need sleep, I'm exhausted. 😴
  • I bet it is!
  • @sgrn18 can you catch a nap when LO is napping today? Hopefully the 3am stops soon - I’m sure the interrupted sleep is exhausting.
  • @shoretobe you better believe I did! Lol luckily it's the weekend so MH is home to let me sleep a little longer than his nap.

I used to loooovvveee daylight savings time,  as a parent not so much.
  • @sgrn18 I'm not loving it either. Somehow Nate stayed up until 9 pm. I thought I was gonna get lucky and sleep in. No. He woke up at 4:30 for the day...
  • Last night was awesome here. My older two went to bed at 9:15 and slept until 7:30. Declan slept from 10 until 7:30.

  • OMG ladies. I dumped V's laundry in the washer last night. Today I went to put it in the dryer and when I pulled out one of the shirts I'm like What's that? It looked like frost, but when I touched it, it wasn't cold.

Turns out there was a disposable diaper in her laundry and the gel got out all over everything!
I hope it will dissolve in another round in the washer?
    BabyFruit Ticker

  • Oh no!  That’s unfortunately happened to me too.  I think it took a few washes to completely get it all out.
  • July 2019 is up- where does time go?

  • Nora started day care the day after Labor Day and STILL isn't in a good sleep pattern there.  She'll sleep maybe an hour and a half total on her long days, when she's there from about 7-5:30.  In the same time period at home over the weekend, we can still get 6-8 hours of (obviously non-consecutive) nap time out of her.  When she gets home, she is EXHAUSTED and miserable.  Yesterday, I picked her up at 5:30 and she fell asleep in the car.  We got home by 5:40, and she cried hysterically until 6:10, when I finally got her to fall asleep.  At 6:30, I had to wake her up so we could go get my husband from the train station (we only have one car, but are currently shopping for another one because of how ridiculous this situation is).  Then we came home to another 30 minutes of hysterics before she went down for the night at 7.  I wish there were a magic way to get her to sleep more at day care - it sucks to have so little time with her and to have her be in such a bad mood for all of it.

Starting in January, my mom will be watching her 3 days per week, and I know that will help so much with this problem.  But until then, it's just not fun.
  • @ashtuesday I'm sorry. Maybe there's too much commotion going on for her to sleep?

I have a vent. DH's cousin is crazy and her baby shower is this weekend. I'm not sure if I shared this already, but if so you're gonna get it again. She got mad at me for getting pregnant first in her family and was rude about my pregnancy. Well, she was so jealous that she quit taking her birth control without telling her husband and she got pregnant. Her husband is pissed. I'm also bothered by it. She's doing it for the accessory and is being so selfish about it. She told me she refuses to breastfeed because she doesn't want to hurt her nipples. And I, to this day, cannot get over that. I'm so upset for that baby. Like, yes, it's okay to not breastfeed but for such a selfish reason is what bothers me. Why not try? What about the colostrum? What about that bond? I'm not bashing formula fed moms, because I am one of those now, and there's nothing wrong with that choice but idk. I'm really erked.
  • Aw poor Nora. Probably daycare is just too darn exciting for sleep.
But have you talked to them about it?
For Vinny, she wakes up if she's hungry, cold, or has a leaky diaper. (Or there might be a noise or something.) She takes much better naps if she's in a sleep sack on top of her clothes. Maybe just making sure she's recently fed and changed and well bundled could help her sleep at daycare?

  • mccurleya  oh wow. that's like a letter from an advice column! Poor baby. But maybe having her own baby come out of her body and in her arms will change some of her attitude. fx
    BabyFruit Ticker

  • @mccurleya yikes!

@ashtuesday is the daycare a good fit? The daycare my oldest went to had set nap times and the room had to be dark and quiet during those times and the babies were all on the same schedule. That will be awesome come January but that’s a long time to wait things out.

  • @mccurleya wow. Just wow. Reminds me of my brothers gf.  Hopefully she will mom-up after birth.

  • @sgrn18 truly hoping so.
  • Gah, thanks ladies.  I do think it's just overstimulation, like @mccurleya and @fatstagnation said.  There's lots to see and play with, and she's such a social creature - she doesn't want to miss anything.  I have spoken with her teachers, and I know they try - I've watched them on the video feed do literally everything my husband and I do, but she fights it (she has two hard-headed parents... not shocking she's the same way!).  I do think it's a good fit in every other regard @megpeg, but you're right, this is a long wait!  I'm going to take the long weekend to stay home with her and try to recalibrate her sleep schedule (or at least distinguish the sleep she actually needs from what is her playing catch-up) - we'll see how it goes!

@mccurleya That is just whole BUNCHES of crazy, holy cow!  As a wife, I don't understand stopping birth control without talking with your husband - I don't get making a life choice like that on your own when he will be so directly impacted.  Ay carumba.  I agree with @sgrn18 (and lol-ed, because the "mom up" phrase is only familiar to me from Teen Mom advertising  <3 )
  • @ashtuesday just for the time being, maybe just head to the train station and let her nap?  I know for you waiting in the car for that long might be like torture, but maybe it would allow for her to rest a little before you guys get home and have family time.  I spend a lot of time in my car waiting on folks, so you could join my club, lol.  Maybe diffusing the one crying episode could put the whole night on a better track.

@mccurleya families are hard.  I am sorry you have to deal with that dynamic.  We have that in our family too and it’s hard for me to understand why.
  • @DDRRT1982 I do that too! I've been taking V to montessori playgroup and she falls asleep on the way home. A lot of times I sit in the car in my own driveway to let her nap a little longer. I loaded some books for work and pleasure onto my phone so it's not a complete waste. Usually she wakes up on her own so I'm only sitting there 10 min or so.

  • Since I have started the process of ending pumping I actually wore a real bra today and not a sports bra or breastfeeding bra. I am so not used to the underwire anymore! I think I need to go bra shopping to find something that lifts and is more comfortable or just maybe a better fit. What brands or fits do you like?

  • I like Victoria Secret, but the main thing is it has to be the right size.  Wherever you go, let them measure you.
  • @DDRRT1982 I need a bigger cup and band size than what they carry. I think I am going to head to Lane Bryant while I am with out kids tomorrow- which brings me to my next point- boo.... Dhs vasectomy is tomorrow. I possibly have another couple weeks before all the guys are cleared out.

  • @megpeg I need to go bra shopping too. They're just so expensive! I'm still rocking the breastfeeding bras.

@mccurleya That’s the part I am dreading is paying. Lane Bryant’s has some bogo half off and then another coupon tha will stack but still is going to be around $50 for 2.

  • Front row seat for a vasectomy- payback for watching 3 babies be born?

  • I haven't worn an underwire bra in like 5+ years lol i have.....had... a simple A cup. Now I'm at least a C and more when engorged which requires some support.  I wore a nursing bra to an interview on Wednesday and I was thinking I should probably get some better bras. I went through my old bras and my boobs just spill out of them.  It's very weird to go from no-boobs to all of the sudden holy-boobs-batman.
  • It's 42° today. We're going to lunch with some friends and to a baby shower today. We won't be outside but from the car to the place. Would you guys still layer baby?
