I have a registry at Amazon and Target also, just to get their version of Welcome Baby boxes (Amazon = totally worth it, Target was mostly coupons which I don't really use but was nice.)
Since this is the second kiddo for us, I was only planning on sharing my registry if people specifically ask (mostly family I imagine).
Biggest item on my registry for this one is a glider/rocker chair since we still have DS's chair in his room and use it regularly.
I definitely won't register for a Bumbo, which seems to be on every registry for new moms ever. Personally it was a waste for us. I think I used it once with DS.
We're on Amazon and it's already public. We're so rural that there are no physical stores that I want to register with, but I figure people will shop where they want to anyways. Amazon has a small baby gift basket, which we already have in transit, and a completion discount which takes a % off the prices of goods once you are "x" days from your due date. I think you have to have Prime to get some of these, though. Would love to hear of some other places online.
Did not expect to register for a travel system, but you all have convinced me. Best thing I found is a high chair that clamps onto the table so it doesn't take up floor space!
We're not registering for a pack n play as we're getting a hand-me-down one from my cousin's baby. It's only a few years old.
When you get a moment to be excited about it, clear out some time and spend as many hours as possible focusing on the registry stuff. At this point I'm so tired of comparing and shopping, I'm glad I put in the time when I was actually excited about choosing things to put on there.
If this is another girl, I probably won’t register for anything. MIL will probably sweetly give me some diapers anyway.
If it’s a boy, I might register for some toys, blankets, burp cloths, and clothes that aren’t pink. Haha. And then send it to anyone who asks, but not broadcast it.
There are a couple things I would love to have with this kid that I’m not sure fit in our budget, like the dock a tot. I might put that on a registry and then just see what happens. 😂
Tips: I listened to too many people who said “you won’t need this” and didn’t register for some things I should have. You just don’t know what your kid will like. Some babies love swings, some hate them. Some parents like having a changing station, some prefer to just change on the floor wherever. For example, I know people who hate having a changing station, but I have changed literally every one of DD’s diapers on the changing pad on her dresser and am still doing so at 18mo. She wiggles less than on the floor and in the open.
I also registered for some baby carriers that my baby ended up hating. But I kept them to try with the next kid. So get the things you think you’ll need that won’t clutter up the house too much. If you have to sell something later, no big deal.
Trying to figure out where to register this time...probably Target? There is no Buy Buy Baby in this state and Babies R Us closed
I’m a minimalist when it comes to baby gear so honestly, I don’t care that much about the completion discounts or coupons. I do like that Amazon has an add-on that allows you to add anything on the internet.
The registry(s) will probably be completed around 24 weeks and made public then-ish, though I won’t be broadcasting it, just sharing with grandmas to share upon request.
With DD, we registered for a lifejacket since she’d be going back and forth to an island on a small boat frequently! We did not register for bottle warmers/sanitizers or wipe warmers as they seemed too much like clutter I would not use.
Tips: people like cute and practical. Practical without cute doesn’t get a lot of bites. Also, an idea stolen from March 19 BMB is to put things you definitely don’t want on the list then mark them received so people don’t buy duplicates!
I have a registry on Amazon this time, part for the welcome box/completion coupon and part just to keep track of things I want to buy. I have already told my mother that under no circumstance do I want a shower and that if she tries I will walk out. Seriously. It was a pointless pain in my ass the first time. Especially if this one is another girl.
Its probably public on Amazons site if you search my name but I don’t plan to make any sort of announcement about it. If people ask then I’ll tell them.
I didn’t add last time and won’t add a bottle or wipes warmer this time because i don’t see the point in them. I definitely have another rock n play thing because it was so awesome with DD.

I mostly registred to see what I’d like for new baby. A few different teether toys, the car seat system so we can use the discount on it and such. Unless we have a boy we don’t need clothing and I use cloth and could use a few more little baby diapers but not many.
also i don’t know if anyone will throw a shower for this baby. I love parties so I hope someone thinks to do a sprinkle or even just a yay! Party.
When do you plan to make your registry public? It already is. I made two-sided invitation cards and have already sent out half. One side is for the Reveal and the other side is for the Shower. The events have separate locations, one is closer to those from out of town and the other is more convenient for those in our area. Also, our Reveal has a set time for guests to arrive and leave but the Shower will be Open House style which I love because crowds are overwhelming and the location has less room for parking anyhow.
What’s one thing you registered for that is a little unexpected? We registered for 2 onesies. One that mom wants for baby and one that dad wants for baby. DH's is a Top Gun reference that reads "Talk to me Goose"

A crib. We will use a pack and play until baby outgrows it or figures out how to climb out. It takes up less space and we will be taking several trips out of town in the first year to visit baby's Grandma so portability is preferred.
What tips/tricks do you have for creating a registry? We started planning our registry well in advance and enjoyed the time we had to slowly add to it before anyone else knew about it.

I hope my relatives can figure out Amazon. Most of my family lives pretty spread out around the country, but I know they will be excited about purchasing things for us. But the actual shower will mostly be local friends, and they will all probably ignore the registry and buy clothes lol.
FYI with Target you have to watch it closely because they change what’s in stock/available often. So if you pick bedding and accessories now they might no be available for your shower or due date
One thing I regret is announcing we were having girl before our shower. I wish I would have waited because people didn’t get much from my registry and instead I got a lot of pink stuff and clothes that I didn’t want.
Some me people are afraid to put big ticket items on their registries but don’t be because a lot of times a group will all pitch in for your car seat or stroller. Plus you get a completion coupon 4-6weeks before your due date for 15-20% off any remaining items
Ill make a registry on Amazon this time, like I did with DS because at least I can get the completion coupon if we need anything
I want to make our registry ASAP - so that if people want to use it for Christmas/birthday gifts for me, they can, but also so my husband and I can budget accordingly.
When we first registered, I thought "a stroller's a stroller!" and just registered for a cheap Graco travel system. I haaaaaaate it and am springing for the Uppababy this time around. I typically HATE anything that is too pricey and refuse to spend that kind of money on anything, but this is one of those times where quality makes such a huge difference.
If I were from-the-gate registering again, I would not register for a Bumbo - like someone said, we never used it. I would also register for essentially no blankets - people will buy a million, and you'll rarely use them.
My registry tip/trick has to do more with post-shower gift-sifting. My mom was excessively excited for her first grandchild and bought like CRAZY, leaving us with duplicates. Like, we registered for the changing pad we wanted. Someone bought it for us. And then my mom bought us another one because she liked it better. So the trick was to then put my mom's changing pad on our registry and mark it as "purchased" - that gave us the ability to return it for full price in store credit, which we wound up needed as N got bigger. It is a very first world problem, but it helped us!

When do you plan to make your registry public? it's technically already public, but I haven't told anyone about it. I think I will mention it once we know the sex (b/c that's when I can finalize it.)

What tips/tricks do you have for creating a registry? Don't go overboard. You don't need 10 sheets or changing pad covers. Get 3 of each. You can't have enough burp rags. This isn't for the registry but make sure you get 5-10 shirts that button/zip over on the side because until the umbilical cord falls off, it's a sensitive area for LO.
@professormama, you do you! I was tempted to play hooky today, but my conscience won't let me call off unless I'm practically dying of a stomach bug
3 bottles: boon nursh, tommee tippee, avent natural. The boon one is interesting because the base is silicone and flexible. All of these are 4-5oz and slow flow nipples. The boon bottle nipple reminds me of the munchkin latch bottles that I’ve used for DD and might potentially be a replacement because there isn’t a valve like the munchkin.
Cotton muslin swaddle (amazing baby brand similar to Aden + Anais), 3-6m onesie (moon and back brand feels super soft), bandana bib, Avent breast pads, 2 green nuk 0-3M pacifiers and a sample side of Johnson’s cottontouch newborn wash and cetaphil baby wash.
Overall, it was free after a registry purchase (I think $10 maybe? My mom bought us an item for Christmas) and I like everything it came with. The bottles will be useful to see which baby likes best. I was glad it came with actual items and not just sample items or discount codes.
Also as a tip- if you add *anything* (over $10, I think) to your registry then buy it, you qualify for the welcome box. I think I bought a rolling pin and a pie plate for the holidays. I’m keeping my registry more as a private shopping list, so it’s still possible to get the box fairly early.
