  • Due date: 3/7

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment on 11/6. No questions in the interim.

Rants/Raves?: Rant: Woke up at 3 AM this morning, tossed and turned until 7 AM when it was time to get up for work. Anxiety hit me hard as there's still so much to do before baby comes - and probably a bunch I don't know about as a FTM. Haha (I laugh so I don't cry). Rave: My mom & sister are throwing me a baby shower and when they came up for the anatomy scan they cleaned my entire apartment while I was at work. They are seriously angels.

How are you feeling?: Overwhelmed and sleep is hard to come by at the moment. HOWEVER - I am physically healthy and so is baby, so overall I am very thankful.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy?: Give me all the Kit Kats.

  • Due date: 3/9

Any appointments? Questions?: I don't have an appointment until November 12. I had my anatomy scan two weeks ago, and everything looked great! Baby boy was reluctant to show his face, but he was very proud of his penis.

Rants/Raves?: RAVE: My little brother's wedding weekend was this past weekend. The weather was gorgeous, and it was such a beautiful ceremony. My niece (their 2 year old daughter) decided to do an interpretive dance in the middle of the ceremony during the vocal performance, so that was especially entertaining. RANT: DH is taking it personally that I have no sex drive. Sorry, buddy, it's not about you at all.

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling pretty much normal, just rather large.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy?  I love sour candies like Sour Patch Kids, but I'll happily eat all of you Twix bars, too.

  • Due date: 3/2

Any appointments? Questions?: Met with my midwife last week and she agreed one month was too soon for a follow-up scan to check if my placenta has moved up so I pushed that appointment back another month. No new appointments until my routine prenatal the week of Thanksgiving.

Rants/Raves?: Rant: I hate changing the clocks twice a year but Rave: bonus hour of sleeping this weekend! Also, this past weekend I got to see an old highschool friend who was in town and meet her 2-month old baby boy! He's so sweet.

How are you feeling?: Tired but I don't want to go to bed early. I eat breakfast and am still starving by 10am. More than anything, I just feel big and I know that feeling is only going to get worse. My stomach just feels so huge and it's hard as a rock so I know it's all baby.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? I don't have just one favorite but I will take chocolate over fruity any day. Add in caramel like with a Snickers or a twix and I'm one happy gal!

  • Due date: 3/6

    Any appointments? Questions?:

    Not until next Tuesday

    Rants/Raves?:

Rant: if you are considering buying the Spanx maternity leggings, don't do it.  It is like trying to put a wetsuit on and I struggle at 21 weeks.  I don't know how I will manage once I a

    How are you feeling?: Great!

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy?

I like Chewy stuff like Sour Patch kids and if it's chocolate I want it to be a Reece's cup.

  • Due date: March 5

Any appointments? Monthly midwife checkup tomorrow and then MFM next week.

Question? I was referred to MFM for a pregnancy complication that has nothing to do with the baby, but they are inisisting that an ultrasound be scheduled the same day. They told me it was “part of the appointment”. Does anyone go to an MFM, and is this true? Just seems weird and unnecessary.

Rants/Raves? Rant: my husband came home from work early today, but I work at home, and he totally throws off my work day when he is here in the middle of the day. Especially becuase he is playing video games in the room where I normally work. Rave: the Red Sox won the World Series!!

How are you feeling? Honestly HUGE. I was doing pretty well with the weight gain until about two weeks ago, and now I feel like a blimp. I think I am still within the guidelines (up 17 pounds at 22 weeks), but it just came on so suddenly that I feel kind of weird in my body right now. I am also trying not to make another 10+ pound baby, and it’s dawning on me that I may not have control over that. Oh, and a lovely sharp pain where my c-section scar is, especially when I am active. Pregnancy is a joy.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? I am pretty equal opportunity when it comes to candy, but during this pregnancy one of my biggest cravings has been for Baby Ruth. I don’t think I have had a single one in the past 5 years, but now it’s all I can think about sometimes. So weird.

  • @maggiemadeit I hear you with the weight gain. I’m up 12 pounds, but it’s literally all been in the past 6 weeks and I remember gaining a ton in the last trimester last time around.  I’m so much bigger this time.

@mayoduck enjoy the extra hour of sleep! My son is 17 months so I’m trying to prepare him by putting him to bed a bit later each night. That said, I’m still predicting a super early wake up.  :s
  • Due date: 3/8

Any appointments? Questions?: none for another 2 weeks.

Rants/Raves?: Rave: loving feeling little man wiggle <3  Rant: I can’t sleep for anything. Can’t get comfortable and my insomnia is getting worse. My sciatica is already bothering me too. I’ll be calling my chiropractor sooner than I expected.

How are you feeling?: See my above rant plus more anxiety about what to do with my kids when I go into labor.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? All the chocolate. All. Of. It.

  • @chocolatelemons thank you! I suppose I should mentally prepare myself that it may be the last daylight savings extra hour of sleep I get for quite a few years!
  • For those due March 1-9.

    Due date: 3/9

Any appointments? Questions?: Not for another 3 weeks

Rants/Raves?:  Rave: We had our gender reveal this weekend and it’s another boy! I love my little boy and can’t wait to have another one!

How are you feeling?: So pregnant!! I’m not going to lie I’m so glad to hear you are all feeling it too! It’s like I have “popped” again this week and honestly I’m thankful to not feel so alone in reading that you are all feeling the same way. I’m also very tired and gassy! I’ve had consistent diarrhea since Thursday :/ I have been known to struggle with IBS in the past so I hope it’s not that again.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? Taffy chewy like candy!

  • Due Date: March 2

Appointments: I have one for my blood pressure tomorrow and a prenatal appointment on Wednesday.

Rants: I'm trying REALLY hard to eat right but I have zero interest in healthy food. I'm also really exhausted and emotional. My blood pressure is still high, even on meds...
Raves: Baby is very active and seems nice and healthy. We also finished our registry.

Feeling: Pretty blah and emotional, I feel bad but I'm honestly tired of being pregnant...

GTKY: I love dark chocolate, Tropical Starbursts, and Tropical Skittles.
  • @maggiemadeit I saw an MFM when I was high-risk due to twins. I had about as many appointments with them as I did with my OB, and when it got to the end where you just have a ton of appointments in general, it was a LOT.  Perk - you get more ultrasounds?
  • @chocolatelemons i hear you on the rain! only the past week or so we've had some rain free days (in MN). and remodeling... its always something. hopefully it doesn't set you back too much!

@mschanandlerbong1214 I had the same thought about childcare during labor. Don't have any family to count on. I feel like we might have to get a doula just for that.
  • For those due March 1-9.

    Due date: 3/2

Any appointments? Questions?: It's been a week since I took my 3 hour glucose. Do I have GD or not?! Hate the waiting on results. Echocardiogram US scheduled for the 6th, waiting for that. I'm just waiting.

Rants/Raves?: My ribs on my left side are so sore in the evenings. My whole body is done by 7pm. I fall asleep by 9 and wake up in the 4 o' clock hour. Takes forever to fall back asleep and I feel terrible in the morning whether I get more sleep or not.

How are you feeling?: I'm huge and playing the waiting game. Trying to stay excited for Halloween since my kids are so excited. Also looking forward to having it behind me, but I do not like to wish time away and just try to enjoy the present. It can be hard.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? Chocolate. No contest.

  • @maggiemadeit every time I go to the MFM it’s for an ultrasound. I don’t go often (12w, 16w, 20w and not again til 28w) but every time I’m there it’s for an ultrasound. They may just want to take a look at baby for themselves instead of relying on someone else’s.

@litzi-2 if doulas didn’t cost thousands of dollars around here I’d totally do that. My ILs are 40min away but FIL and MIL are useless. They only see the kids 2-3x a year and my SIL is in grad school and working full time. She’d drop everything in a heartbeat to be here but I hate asking that of her. My closest family is 5hrs away and I’m afraid even if one of them came when labor started they won’t be here in time.

Any appointments? Questions?: follow up anatomy scan on Thursday to try to see baby's heart and front of his face

Rants/Raves?: this is both in one I think-- no matter how much I feel like I clean there is always more to do! DH is taking Thursday and Friday off as staycation with me to help and start putting a nursery together, before we do a little weekend getaway to the woods near a creek an hour away. I'm excited that he is ready to help, but also skeptical because the nursery room is currently a guest room/room that we dump stuff into that we don't know what to do with, and DH was talking about painting. I feel like it is going to be a lot of work before we can even start painting! But maybe he is faster at this than me?

How are you feeling?: pretty good! But also big. Bigger than I have ever been and I know it's good and that I will keep growing but it is also weird. Shaving my legs and tying my shoes is getting harder.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? Good chocolate, caramel, reeses, watermelon sour patch kids (yes - specifically watermelon), m&ms.... I kinda just love candy to be honest!

  • @maggiemadeit - I have seen several MFMs with all my high risk pregnancies over the years. I find they typically do like to do their own ultrasounds. It may be their routine to use their own equipment/staff (a few Drs have even performed them themselves). They want to also get a good look for what you are dealing with at that present day. I've found they typically will request other ultrasounds from other doctors to get a more "big picture" look at the pregnancy up to that point, but that doesn't change the fact that they want their own look with their own equipment.

Also, I noticed with my first pregnancy after my C-section, that once my bump starting to really pop out I would get a pain around my incision scar. It was like a stretching pain. Not too bad, though. I haven't had it with my subsequent pregnancies.
  • @mschanandlerbong1214 @litzi-2 I recently found out that a local University has a program called "Birth Companions" where nursing students take a special class to train them in certain doula techniques and you can sign up to get paired up with one of them for your birth. They come talk to you about your birth plan, concerns and all that before the birth, are present at the birth to be your advocate and support, and visit after the birth to make sure everything is going ok with breastfeeding or in general. They are volunteers so their services are free though of course they are students so they don't have the training or experience of professional doulas. Depending on what you're looking for, it may be worth seeing if any local universities offer a similar program.
  • @purplepirate09 +1 to no interest in healthy food. I'm not using pregnancy as an excuse to splurge or anything, but most healthy food and textures are not appealing whatsoever. Things I routinely ate before like roasted or steamed veggies nauseate me.
  • @mschanandlerbong1214 similar situation, my family is 6 hours away, too (baby 1 was totally out in 6 hours!). and IL can't be bothered to change any of their vacation plans. They're in Fl for the entire winter/ spring minus holidays. They live 8 min away and we see them every few months and they never offer any help.
  • @mschanandlerbong1214 @Lbloom Thanks, that’s good to know it’s just standard practice.
  • How we've stayed Team Green through all these high risk pregnancies with all the extra peeks is beyond me.
  • @mayoduck I’ve looked around since I saw your first post about it and didn’t find anything like that around me. How awesome is that for you though!?

@litzi-2 uugghh I’d be livid. As it is mine catch crap for not being around but if they lived that close?! I’d be so pissed.

  • I feel like maybe I missed the symptoms thread for the week. Anyone else having swelling yet? My rings are so tight already! I feel like all of a sudden I'm getting sausage fingers. With my first this didn't happen until I was in 3rd tri and had gained like 40lbs. I'm only up 8lbs this time! :(

  • @novelblessings I think there may not be a symptoms thread this week... I personally have not experienced swelling yet. My rings are always loose on my fingers, even more so as the weather gets cold, but my legs and feet are naturally wide/thick so I can't even imagine what they'd look like all swollen. My mom said she never had swelling during her pregnancies so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good genetics!!
  • @mayoduck Yea I think maybe that is how I got away with having my rings on so long last time, because it was the same seasons. They are typically loose. So bummed if this is just a thing this time! I think my ankles maybe swelled a few times towards the very end last time, but I was definitely rings off somewhere around 36 weeks until a couple days after I gave birth.

  • @novelblessings I was reading this week that a high protein diet (80-100g daily) will prevent pregnancy swelling. Not sure if it’s true, but something to try if it’s bothersome.
  • edited November 2018
@maggiemadeit Thanks! I have been trying to increase my protein and have started supplementing with a shake daily. That has at least helped with the exhaustion during the work day. I just remembered I had a coffee yesterday too, so that might be it as well. I guess I'll just have to remember to drink more water!!

  • @novelblessings What kind of protein do you use? I looked at my husband’s the other day but it explicitly says “not for pregnant or breastfeeding”
  • @maggiemadeit Yea, so I had a hard time finding something considered "safe" and it was overwhelming looking at ingredients of everything. The one I was using prior to finding out I was pregnant, I found out after several weeks that it was a no, no. I can't even remember what the brand was off the top of my head now. Anyways, I'm using Baby Booster brand currently.

  • @maggiemadeit @novelblessings My previous maternity chiropractor recommended a high protein diet for one of her PG clients. I can't remember why she recommended it but I remember her telling the client to try to have an egg every day.
  • @Lbloom I could do with an egg daily. I'm really liking beef jerky too but I know that is high in sodium.

Any appointments? Questions?: No appointments until my follow-up anatomy scan on 11/20. Question: The past week I have has to get up way more often than usual to pee at night. I thought this subsided in the second trimester but I am currently 22w6d and it has gotten out of control. I'm talking anywhere from 6-10 times a night. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Rants/Raves?: Rant: I've started to get the "are you sure there's just one in there" comment some at work. I was a bigger gal before getting pregnant and so far have only gained 6lbs. But, baby is measuring big so I do look much further along than I am. It's just made me very self-conscious... people suck. Rave: I found an amazing deal on an Owlet 2 Monitor this weekend. It is brand new, sealed in box with warranty still valid and I got it for $160. They retail around $300. This was on my registry but I could not pass it up and am so excited!

How are you feeling?: As mentioned above, self-conscious about my size and tired from having to wake up so often to pee.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? It honestly varies but since being pregnant I have been very fond of the "pumpkins" that come in the autumn variety pack of candy corn.

  • Due date: March 3

Any appointments? Questions?: OB appointment on Tuesday the 6th.

Rants/Raves?: Rave: Halloween was so much fun and my 2 year old even put in her costume without any fuss (I was worried because getting dressed and undressed every day is like WW3 in our house)

Rant: I'm with the PP who complained about peeing a lot  I, too, thought I'd get some relief in my 2nd tri but in the last week or so I constantly feel like I have to pee. My bladder has been bugging me for sure.

How are you feeling?: I'm really starting to feel pregnant these days (23 weeks tomorrow) - I can feel my back pulling/arching with the weight of my belly when I stand, in having a harder time getting comfortable enough to fall asleep, and sitting watching tv has been a struggle because I can't seem to get comfortable either.

GTKY: Happy almost Halloween! What is your favorite candy or type of candy? I like almost all of it - Mars, Snickers, Aero and Reese are my favorites!
