Hello all!
I am a frequent lurker, but rare poster. I am due at the end of June and looking to coordinate a similar situation to what I did when my daughter was born (now almost 4!). During my last maternity leave, I was able to be at home for about 16 weeks and was fortunate to work with another young lady who was due around the same time as I. Her maternity leave was short (6 weeks) and so I began watching her little boy. The situation was so perfect, as the infants were two weeks apart and it was so easy to have two at the same age. This time, I hope to take a permanent maternity leave!
I am hoping to find someone who is due around the same time, or earlier who will need child care beginning in July (depending on when we each actually deliver). I am really only looking to have one other child, as infants need some much time and attention and I wanted to be able to take them for walks, to the park and give them each my full and undivided attention.
A little about me: My husband and I own our condo in Laguna niguel, which is kept very neat and clean. As previously mentioned we have a wonderful almost 4 year old daughter who is the absolute joy of our life. Our home is drug/smoke/alcohol free, with have two small dogs who adore children. I am an early childhood education student (part time) and am working towards a degree in teaching. I am CPR certified and prior to my own child have over 15 years of nanny and child care experience.
** I am also open to another child under the age of 5, or a two siblings around the same age range**
Re: anyone in need of in home day care provider this summer
Just a little piece of advice ... you might want to be careful calling yourself an "in home day care provider" if you're not licensed. Offer yourself as a nanny providing care in your home, etc but not as a day care provider unless your licensed by the state.
Not trying to sound like a b*tch, just trying to be helpful. Also, I would not suggest you take any more than 1 other infant as licensed in home providers are usually only allowed 1 or 2 (not entirely certain) child under the age of 1 year in their care. A licensed facility can only have 4 to a care provider.
Good luck!

Hi Kali:
Appreciate the advice! Probably very wise, however, I was planning to get licnesed prior to caring for any children in my home (also could have mentioned it in my post- trying not to be too wordy.) It would be more of a nanny situation, but I want the licensing so that my home can be inspected and I ensure for the protection of another's child and my own, that we are in great shape.
Thanks again- I should be more cautious of what I say, especially so people know what I'm trying to do.
I could have also clarified that I own a preschool (center) so I tend to be more cautious of wording, etc. There are a lot of really good in home care providers so I never bad mouth but just want you to be protected.
Licensing, even an in home, is a VERY tedious process. If you're wanting to have it done by July I'd strongly recommend getting started now. I don't have an in home preschool (I have a decent sized center) but am more than willing to answer questions or point you in the right direction if I can.
Good luck!

Where is your centered located? Any openings? (lol)
I love being with and working with kids. My daughter goes to a preschool now that I adore, and every morning when I drop her off I just want to stay and be with the kids all day!
Certainly not looking to be a traditional in-home provider, more of a 2:1 so that I can do things age appropriate with both infants and have the ease of taking two to the park, etc.
As I mentioned in the pp, I am working towards a certificate in early childhood education and would love to work in a preschool/daycare. I'd love to hear what you look for in your teachers and what the typical requirements are. If I do have to put my infant in daycare, I would love to also work in the same center (maybe not the same age group) and even move my daughter over too.
Many thanks, in advance!

I may be interested and live in LN.
In order to be a full teacher, you need the 12 ECE Units (any of the community colleges can tell you the exact ones you need or I can if you need to know that but I bet you already have all that info) and you have to have 6 months of experience. Now, I know, how do you get experience? Well, you aide. Get 6 months under another teacher and then you can be a full teacher. For me, I don't generally hire anyone without a few years of experience but that's because of our environment. I don't have aides or co-teachers so for me I think it's tough for a young teacher to have the support she needs without mentor teachers and we aren't set up for that. When I hire, I am specifically looking for someone with good classroom management, is flexible, creative and of course, patient (that's a given). Someone who will stimulate the class and keep their interest. We are unique in that we are a rotating classroom set up so each teacher doesn't have their own room. So it takes someone who can work around that too.
To answer your specific questions, no I'm not hiring, yes I have part time (2 days per week, I don't offer half day programs) openings and we're in Santa Ana/North Tustin.
You can email me at kim at plumfieldschool dot com if you want to ask more direct questions.
