We always do our meal planning on Sundays since that's when we can make it to the store. Here's our plan for the week: Sunday night: Chicken thighs + spinach + rice Monday: Nachos Tuesday: Fried rice (using leftover rice and chicken from Sunday, plus whatever veggies my husband got) Wednesday: eating out for halloween Thursday: Homemade pizza Friday: chicken and dumplings
We have steaks marinating for tonight - will probably have some sprouts with them. We'll have turkey meatloaf with carrots and potatoes some night (probably tomorrow). Wednesday I'll eat whatever BIL has since we'll be over there for Halloween. Thursday I'm meeting some girlfriends for dinner so DH is on his own. Friday either takeout or something easy like pierogies with peppers and onions and kielbasa.
Sunday- steak & brussel sprouts in butter Monday- jersey mikes (we are going to vote after work so eating out tonight) tuesday- baked salmon & salad wednesday- homemade chili thursday- baked chicken & broccoli w/cheese friday- tacos
@honey_suckle Soup... Butternut squash, potato leek, chicken tortellini, French onion?
Tonight - mock friend chicken and pasta tuesday- probably sandwich’s and salad wednesday- probably takeout/pizza/etc Thursday- chili (DH) sandwich and salad(me and DD) Friday- steak and veggies if I can remember to buy propane, lol Saturday- fish tacos (hopefully, DH has been on the fence but I want!) Sunday- my bday! I think beef stroganoff and angel food cake
That is the tentative plan. Subject to my food cravings/aversions and DH not being a butthead.

I knew I should have kept our homemade pizza on the list. Going to have internet food envy all week. Here's our how our week looks:
Monday: Grilled salmon + salad Tuesday: Out for DH's birthday Wednesday: Lentil stew with homemade bread plus broccoli Thursday: Repeat Wednesday (pregnant Mama + 2 toddlers = lots of big batches for leftovers) Friday: Sloppy Janes (vegetarian sloppy joes) with green beans - hoping this carries us through weekend lunches!
My only plan is to do my very best not to eat out. Before pregnancy, I pretty much hit a drive thru for every single meal due to the fact that I work a million hours and am usually too tired to cook. Now that I have more than myself to consider, I’m just trying my best to avoid my usual eating habits and actually buy groceries.
Damn! There is no way I can manage to meal plan. I mean I packed a bunch of premade smoothie bags, but that’s just because I have to worry about what I want for lunch. For dinner we almost always go out to eat which is horrible. I’m stealing some of y’alls ideas.
I wish I could cook and eat!!! Still sick over here but in my imagination I’m cooking and eating:
-lemon baked chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens with red onions
-soy and ginger glazed salmon with jasmine rice and stir fry veggies
-left over chicken as chicken salad with red grapes and walnuts over salad with champagne vinegrette with butternut squash soup (love the carton of soup from Trader Joe’s).
-spaghetti and meatballs in marinara with garlic and escarole
I’m impressed by how prepared you all are! We have our two Hello Fresh meals (this week is shrimp with rice and zucchini ribbons and crispy cheddar frico cheeseburgers with roasted broccoli) and no idea for the rest of the week
@honey_suckle I like chicken tortilla or chicken noodle soup (depending on whether I have carrots and celery handy). But I could also see rolling leftover pad Thai into a pho-type soup.
@thatbaintforbetty@lyse01 My normal go-to's for soup is: red lentil & tomato, potato & leek or borstj. DH just made a delicious chicken noodle soup the other week so that one's out, but I do like the idea to make more of a thai noodle soup and I have no idea how to make a tortilla-soup but it sounds intriguing!
@honey_suckle the general concept is that it’s a mexican-tasting, broth-based chicken soup. So, chili, cumin, garlic, plus maybe some black beans (or whatever’s in the pantry), plus shredded chicken, plus cilantro/sour cream/broken tortilla chips (or tortilla strips) as garnish. You can google recipes but assume they are all very flexible
@fuzzywombat how do you like HelloFresh? I've thought about signing up for something like that just to give us some variety but I never know if it'll be worth it or not.
Not Fuzzywombat, but I've done HelloFresh before - it's ok. It's easy, and the food is pretty good, but I've had some ingredient quality issues and the portions aren't huge - DH doesn't usually get full off the meals. (@sheknows6)
@sheknows6 we’ve actually been really happy with it. We’d gotten in a bit of a rut with dinners so it’s added a nice variety of new recipes. DH has been doing almost all the cooking these days, so it makes me feel better that he has two easy meals that he doesn’t have to plan. Like @MRDCle said, the portions aren’t huge, but we haven’t experienced any quality issues
@sheknows6 I agree with @MRDCle Hello Fresh was okay but had some issues. Besides the ones already pointed out, my DH and are a little picky and I didn’t think there was enough variety in the weekly meals. It felt like some weeks everything was spicy or something we wouldn’t eat. I hate cilantro, DH doesn’t like pork chops or pork loin or any other chicken but boneless skinless. (He’s a pain sometimes but I love him) We got 2 free trials, i wasn’t impressed enough to actually pay for it after they were up.

@sheknows6 My husband and I like Blue Apron more than Hello Fresh - same concept, but the meals are just a little more elevated than what we usually make, so it feels like something special. I also feel like Blue Apron's portions are a bit more generous. We've been really trying to budget so we haven't done a meal kit in a while, but I always enjoyed ordering them: they're the one thing we consistently cook together!
And you all are inspiring me with your meal planning! We used to plan for every night in the week... IF we make dinner three times a week now, it's a lot. When we don't cook, it's either take out or "fend for yourself," AKA cereal. We need to get back on track!
@professormama good! This was one of the weekly topics in my previous BMB and I thought we could try out some new topics on a weekly basis to see if we like them!
soo... although it’s wed, i’m bummed i missed this thread on monday. (idk why- i don’t meal plan.)
mon: was chicken pot pie tue: corn dogs post trick or treating wed: sliced wieners in scrambled eggs over white rice (a childhood fave) thurs: shepherd’s pie fri: leftover shepherd’s pie and/or cereal
@honey_suckle, looks good! Funny story, last time my DH made pad Thai, he thought he grabbed a zucchini... turns out it was a cucumber . He tried adding it to the pan anyway... I wouldn't recommend it, lol.

Tuesday will probably have to be leftovers or something simple like a peanut butter sandwich since DH works late and I have to take DS to a sitter.
Wednesday will probably end up being a quick meal out before trick or treating.
Anddd... that's as far as I've got, haha.
