  • @mbradfo2 Abigail isn’t a napper either. Sometimes I can get her to nap in her swing and I’m totally fine with that. She’ll ocassionally pass out right after her bottle too (if not during).

  • Aww thanks everyone!

    @hottietoddy Aisleigh is almost 5 months & she's still with us.  We're on a similar path as @mtpbadger.  She was only getting up once a night so we were going to love her but then got s cold & hit the 4 month sleep regression.
  • @hottietoddy wow 2 months and already sleeping in 5/7 hr blocks that’s awesome! Keep doing what ur doing!!
    Its very hard to get her to fall asleep on her own so I know she’ll be with me for some time!

  • That’s a great long stretch at 2 months. Yay! Bryson has been in his own room since about 3 months. He likes it in there. He slept in our bed last week while he was sick though. He goes to bed pretty easy unless he is over tired then it can be a task. He naps in his own crib for the most part as well unless he falls asleep in his swing.
    TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
  • @hottietoddy I got the same advice at my 2month appointment. I was kinda shocked I always thought the recommendation was to keep the baby in the room until 6months. To be honest we weren’t ready to move her out of our room but we knew that we needed to start easing into an evening routine for going to work.  So we just tried it and I was surprised how easily she took to it (though really we have been doing this routine for awhile just without paying attention to the time and and we swapped the bassinet in our room for her crib in the nursery. We’ve been doing it for a week now and today we were running about an hour late for bedtime and she was so angry/cranky we skipped half our routine....wooops. Our plan is a little “extra” but honestly Both my parents worked really long hours and bedtime/story time is what I cherish from my day to day childhood and I want to make those memories with her.

    7:30 playtime, bath time, or walk (but something more on the active/awake side)
    8:00 night time bottle (usually a bigger one than usual). Lullaby/baby classical station and low lights.
    8:20ish-move to nursery, diaper change and lotion mini-massage. change to pjs, read two short picture books while cuddling in her chair. (We keep the room Dark with only enough light to read)
    8:40ish put her in swaddle and in crib turn on white noise machine, stay in room and read a word heavy book.
    9pm leave and stare like a creep-o at video monitor until she falls asleep (though usually she is asleep before I leave).

    Currently we are doing bedtime together and doing a 30minute “power clean” to try and keep the house from appearing on a episode of hoarders. But our plan for when we go back to work is to trade off nights while the other is on cleaning duty and then put her to bed together on fridays/Saturday’s.

    @2MomsHoping
    But if you wind up on Hoarders, you get a professional cleaning crew and organizer to clean up your house!

    Chore mamas -- if you can swing it, I highly highly highly recommend a biweekly cleaning crew to do the major chores (washing windows, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning sinks/toilets, etc). Ours is 95 dollars every other week and worth every little penny.

  • @hottietoddy The recommendation I heard was sleep in the same room but not in the same bed for the first 6 months. My son is almost 7 months and he sleeps about 3 feet from my side of the bed (our bedroom is kinda small). I wake up on weekends with him staring at me. :) If your son is sleeping 5-7 hour stretch, I say don’t change! I’m really envious because my son sleeps 2.5-3.5 hour stretches. He wasn’t such a bad sleeper up until about 3 months and things have gone downhill since. First it was the 4-month regression, then reverse cycling, then more leaps, then series of illnesses acquired from daycare. I was so ready to implement some sleep training techniques a couple of weeks ago but he got sick and needed to be fed often (due to frequent diarrhea). His diarrhea is finally getting better and with diaper rash improving, I’m thinking of sleep training next month.

    Thanks everyone, so glad to hear the other perspectives.  Really appreciate it, just going to continue on our path for now and see what happens. Tonight my husband held him for 2 hours claiming he wouldn't sleep.  I tried to be very nice about it, but was annoying. I love the idea of something active before bed as part of routine and I'm going to outline it more for my husband as well. Thanks for all the ideas!

    BTW, I think the 5-7 hours includes feeding so it's more like he is asleep from 4-6 hours, but sometimes still waking at 3 hours and varies.
  • @mbradfo2 a professional organizer maybe I need to rethink this struggle and let nature take its course for another couple months but actually I think our office and basement might already put us in the finalists spot.  We actually did hire a cleaning service we were able to keep costs down by having them just do the main floor in the house and our upstairs bathroom.

  • So I know swaddling stops when they roll but she still has that startle reflex sometimes & I think she needs it, the sleep sacks aren't quite the same.  Has anyone used a magic Merlin suit or nested bean?

    @Aera11 I think it's @Polythene Pam who's used the Merlin suit and liked/recommends it.
  • Thanks @persnickity!  Just wondering if it's worth buying.
  • Happy Halloweens! Anne's pictures are funny since she kept trying to chew on her frilly princess skirt and ended up looking -very- unlady like. I'm dressing her up this weekend for an official photo shoot (well, official mommy's phone photo shoot). She found the costumes that the other kiddos were wearing very fascinating. So many cute Halloween babies!!!

    @2MomsHoping
    When we were out getting dinner at Disney, the couple sitting next to us had their baby in that same bib! They were super nice and I found out that their guy is 5 months old and we swapped a few stories :smile:  Anne was wearing her first Halloween onesie since she just wanted to chew on her costume haha

  • @Aera11 yes! It was MAGICAL for my daughter, to the point where breaking her of it (when she could roll over in it) was hard. But I’d credit that to helping her sleep amazingly well pretty early on, and breaking her if it was just a couple nights with a few minutes of tears. Graham was meh, he’s 1 today and still a terrible sleeper so who knows haha. But I’m in an online group for my daughters age and it was the most sworn by product, plus keeps them extra snuggly in winter! :)
  • @PolythenePam okay good to know! I'm buying one :) and happy birthday to graham!!
