Re: Week 3 Check In 10/22

  • Due date: 3/17

Any appointments? Questions?: 19 week appointment today, just a standard check up, looking forward to seeing how much weight I have gained considering at last appointment (end of Sept) i was at 3 pounds total LOL. had a headache for most of yesterday so i wanna ask about that bc someone on fb said to inquire about that being a blood pressure issue, but i think it may be bc i had my hair in a bun for the duration of Saturday bc of my sister's wedding. Also looking forward to next week, bc anatomy U/S is Nov 1st.

Rants/Raves?: Raving that i am feeling the little one a lot more and also that we are almost at halfway point! also my sister's wedding was amazing this weekend. She wore a red wedding dress and her husband got a Darth Vader to bring her a special cake (she LOVES Darth Vader) during dinner...they also walked out in the reception with light sabers LOL. her absolute FAVE is Prince and she had one of his cooks cater the reception.... it was just a great day and it went smoothly and i'm so happy it worked out so well for her!

How are you feeling?: Feeling GOOD. mentally doing well, although i am starting to pre-nest in my head. My son's room will be the nursery so now i am figuring out how to move his stuff to the basement bedroom and i figure we should be getting a move on that soon. Physically....getting breathless easier so im being more careful with my movements...but good!

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? repeating myself. I HATE IT. and sometimes i suffer because i work in customer service on the phone which means that i have to talk to people sometimes who are hard of hearing and it makes me bonkers repeating myself. also, being late. my family is super duper punctual so i hate being late to things, or letting other people make me late bc they don't realize how "on time" my family is. If we have family dinner and it starts at 3pm....by 4:30 there's not going to be any food and its funny that my boyfriend likes to stroll in late...(bc his family is late all the time)...and realize there's nothing left to eat but rolls and drinks. i try to tell him all the time. *Shrug*

  •  Due date: 3/20, 18+5

Any appointments? Questions?: Next Friday I have my Anatomy Scan. I'm so excited!

Rants/Raves?: We have a wedding out of town this coming weekend that I'm both looking forward to and not ready for. Traveling out of town for a kid free wedding is stressful (not to mention expensive!) but I'm looking forward to seeing lots of people I haven't seen in awhile.

How are you feeling?: Just cruising lately. A couple baby wiggles, a couple episodes of RLP and exhaustion.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? People that are too loud for the environment they are in. Does your conversation really need to be so loud that I can hear every word from across the room?
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  •  Due date: March 21

Any appointments? Questions?: Anatomy scan tomorrow!

Rants/Raves?: Forever raving about my husband because he has just been my rock throughout my pregnancy. I am so grateful for him.

How are you feeling?: These past few days have been rough (trip to the ER) however, I am happy to be back home.  These few days really made me realize important it is to take care of my mental wellbeing... I started meditating again and I feel a lot more calm and grounded. I am going to do everything I can to stay mindful of how I am feeling and just overall be more gentle with myself.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Hmmm.. I can't think of any right now.
  • Due date:  3/18

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is on 11/6, AS will be scheduled a couple weeks after that appointment. My Midwife says she likes to wait longer, if possible, because it's easier to see everything, but I do wish it was sooner

Rants/Raves?: Rant: I sure wish in could feel baby move, not feeling him yet is making me anxious!

How are you feeling?: I'm feeling great! I've been able to stay active and besides napping on the weekends I feel normal.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? People who eat loudly! I can't stand smacking or chewing sounds!
  •  Due date: 21 March

Any appointments? Questions?: No more appointments for a few weeks  :/

Rants/Raves?: I felt my baby for the first time yesterday! I have an anterior placenta so I knew it would take some time, but finally felt that first little flutter, and have felt a bunch more since. Mostly when I'm sitting/relaxing. Can't wait until my husband can feel her too!

How are you feeling?: Not really pregnancy related, but I tweaked my back lifting yesterday. Makes it tough to get comfortable. Feeling a little better today but still tight. I have a massage booked for Saturday, I can't wait!

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Oh so many things. I'm with @emarcinek99 on the loud eaters though. Right now I'm working with my husband to get him to stop scraping his teeth on his fork when he eats :D
  • Due date: March 17ish. My initial OB put my EDD at the 16th, but he insisted on using a 28 day cycle even though a) I track my periods and I've never had a cycle shorter than 29 days. In the six months prior to conceiving I was averaging 30 day cycles. Dating ultrasound said March 17, so that's what I'm sticking with.

Any appointments? Questions?: Nothing this week. I have a 20 week check up with the midwives next week, hoping to get my flu shot then.

Rants/Raves?:  Rave is that I'm finally feeling baby girl pretty regularly. I found out last week my placenta is anterior, which explains why it took a while. Rant..MH and I are not communicating very well lately. He's generally not a very emotive person and I feel like when I try to talk about how this pregnancy is affecting me, both mentally and physically, he just kind of shuts down. Like, I get zero reaction. Either that or he says something about how I'm worrying for nothing. It's really not helpful and makes me feel very alone in this. I have an appointment with a counselor this week, I think it will be good to talk things through with a neutral party. But at some point I need to have a heart to heart with him about it, I don't want to spend the next 4.5 months feeling like this.

How are you feeling?: Aside from the above I'm feeling okay. Insomnia comes and goes, and the days when I haven't slept well I just feel like absolute shit. Like today - I didn't go into the office because I slept horribly last night and feel awful. When I manage to get enough sleep I feel pretty good.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Drawing a blank at the moment, but I'm sure I'll think of something.
  • @gowenc good for you for taking care of your mental health. Maybe after a few meetings with your counselor you can invite DH to join you. He might just be stressing about the impending change in his own way and not ready to face it just yet. My DH was also pretty uninterested in baby prep and he didn't even have to do much of it (he was deployed for part of my pregnancy). He would do it begrudgingly because it needed to be done, but he didn't get any satisfaction out of it like I did.

  • Hi, my first check in here.

    Due date: March 21

Any appointments? Questions?: 18 wk check up tomorrow. It was delayed from last week because doctor was on vacation. Anatomy scan next week. I am looking forward to it.

Rants/Raves?: Rant, I've been dealing with shingles. It has been slowly getting better but it was a real bummer last week when I was diagnosed.

How are you feeling?: Other than the shingles related pain, I've been feeling pretty good. I haven't felt baby girl yet so I am feeling nervous about that.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? People in my condo building who leave trash in the hallways and back yard. It is frustrating!
  • Due date: 3/16

Any appointments? Questions?: AS on Friday. A lil nervous, but super excited!!

Rants/Raves?: Rave - looking forward to this weekend. My older brother is in town for a work conference and one of my best friends is here too. Can’t wait to see them!

How are you feeling?: Overall, pretty good. But mid-day exhaustion is rough - haven’t quite had that second tri energy boost, even with lunchtime workouts.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? What @zionsmama85 said - especially at work and even more so when I put it in email. Please read what I wrote or ask questions if you didn’t understand our convo. Don’t just nod and smile, then pretend I never told you the specifics previously. Waste of everyone’s time and super frustrating.
  • Due date: Re-dated to 3/28, sticking around here.

Any appointments? Questions?: Appointment today and heard the heartbeat. My doctor actually spent a lot of time with me today, which was nice because my other visits have been super brief so far. We discussed RCS vs c-section, and I haven't decided yet which route I should go :( I'm normally a really decisive person, my job is literally making millions of dollars of decisions every day as fast as possible. She pulled up the report from my c-section and seemed to think I should try for VBAC without saying that directly.

    Rants/Raves?: My AS isn't until 11/13! :s

How are you feeling?: Headaches, dizziness, and BH contractions. I suck at drinking water.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? I hate when people yawn or sneeze loud. I think it's so rude!!! Except when my baby does it, then it's the cutest thing ever.
  • @zionsmama85 agreed on the punctuality! My husband is always late, and it makes me late and look bad! He's always throwing in a load of laundry 30 minutes before we have to be somewhere.

@meggyme my mom always said that people who talked too loud grew up in families where they didn't get enough attention. I thought it was a keen observation.

@babyperogie that's so sweet that you have a good support system! :)

@gowenc you're definitely not alone in feeling alone! Like @meggyme said, MH was not very attentive or into my first pregnancy or even the baby once he was here. However, once he could interact with DS, everything changed. With this pregnancy, he's way more into it knowing that we're getting another cool little person like DS! I'm glad you have a counselor and other support systems present! He's probably going through some stuff in his own head.

@karatepickles welcome and good luck on your AS! Keep us posted!

Thanks @meggyme and @lindseyb918. This is my second pregnancy, but my first one was pretty smooth - I really didn't have any symptoms until I was physically uncomfortable in the third trimester, and at that point I was so big and MH could see/feel DS moving around in there that he "got it" a little more. This time around I've had a ton of nausea (but not throwing up, except once), insomnia, and anxiety - things that he can't really see, you know? So I think it's just not computing. He is also in his second month at a new job that he doesn't like, so he's got his own shit going on.

The hormonal mood swings are no joke, too...I feel like a raging lunatic sometimes, but I'm the type to keep it all in, which isn't productive. I just end up in a spiral of anger/anxiety. So yeah, hoping the counseling sessions will help with that.
  • @gowenc I get you on the mood swings. I've lashed out at MH 3-4 times in the last week, to which he's said, "What is WRONG with you???" Like, I'm effing pregnant, you dufus! I don't want to act like this, but it feels beyond my control :(
  • Due date: 3/23

Any appointments? Questions?: not this week

Rants/Raves?: My 16-month old is sleeping like crap lately and I’m so tired. I’ve been letting my older one play on the iPad or watch TV during her sister’s naptime so I close my eyes for a while

How are you feeling?: tired. My hips hurt and RLP is pretty standard if I get up too quickly or sit awkwardly.

  • First check in!
     Due date: 3/19

     Any appointments? Questions?:
I had the AS on Monday, it was a relief to see him, he was measuring a week ahead? Which is a relief as well. I’m sure they won’t change the Due date, but gives me hope that he’ll come a week early like my other 2!

     Rants/Raves?:
Anterior placenta- for the 3rd time. I hardly feel anything, hoping that changes soon. I ended up buying a fetal Doppler off amazon just for peace of mind- at least I’ve been able to hear his heartbeat more as the weeks have gone by!

     How are you feeling?:
Feeling ok, had a migraine last week- second in the second tri- luckily the doctor said I can take Triptans now- so I got out of it a lot faster than I did in the first tri- regular Tylenol and a coke only goes so far...

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve?
loud throat noises and chewing- my four year old is making these noises lately and it’s driving me nuts!! And he’s just like his dad- hes an instigator, he knows it pushes my buttons so he doesn’t stop!

  • @Katiekitchen welcome! How has the fetal doppler been working for you? I wanted to get one, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to find the HB and end up causing myself more stress :s

    @lindseyb918
It’s working ok now, I definitely should have waited until 17 weeks to even start trying (the box says 16), I started at 15 and was kinda freaking out, but it’s nice to have now. I work from home, so when I get that nervous feeling, I can just lift up my shirt and do it... without looking like a weirdo in front of coworkers 😉

  • @meggyme Completly agree with your pet peeve. The worst is loud cell phone talkers. How on earth do they feel comfortable broadcasting their private conversation to the whole room? Oh! Or people who listen to a video turned up in a silent room
  • @JLaVO888 Cell phones opens up a whole other can of worms... people on their phone in the bathroom (Ewww...), like you said people on the phone at loud volume or inappropriate times like in the library or at a store register, and people that feel the need to walk around with their own theme music playing at full volume all the time. Get some f-ing headphones!
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • Haha I do play my music like that when I go for walks outside. I can’t do headphones when I walk alone because I feel like that’s my number one line of self defense. Most people here don’t do that one though.
  • @JLaVO888 @meggyme
its funny because i used to listen to my headphones exclusively when i was a bus rider to school and work (college days) and i don't remember being nervous or needing to be so utterly aware of my surroundings, but now i would never. its funny how times change.
