Re: 2nd Trimester Check-In w/o Oct 22

  • How far along? 25 weeks!

How are you feeling this week? Ok.  The reflux has started at night and while I took Zantac all throughout my last pregnancy and I know it’s “safe”, I’m trying to not take it for some reason.  Also... constipation and bum pain  I ordered Miralax on amazon and will start taking it.  I was drinking caffeinated coffee for a few weeks until the irregular heartbeat started but then switched back to decaf and I definitely am not as “regular” as when I drink the high test.  I also still get some bad side stitch type pain that lingers for a few minutes.  Aaand bending over is getting hard.

    Rants/Raves/Questions? None right now.

Any upcoming appointments? Ultrasound/Doppler/diabetes next Thursday.

GTKY: What's your favorite halloween candy (or any candy)? What's your least favorite? I like sour candy lately... sour skittles or mike and Ikes.  Or Reese’s or kit kats!

Feel free to share a HDBD pic! Pic from this morning.  Ignore the dirty mirror! I swear I cleaned it.

    • How far along are you? 22w3day
    • How are you feeling this week? Pretty good! I've been having some minor swelling of my hands/feet and hip/thigh/bum pain when sleeping, but nothing too bad right now. In the last 2 weeks I've suddenly started to feel large and in charge though lol
    • Rants/Raves/Questions? Has anyone started planning showers? My Ohio family has our shower scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend and our Illinois family is doing the shower on Dec 9.
    • Any upcoming appointments? OB on Nov 3
    • GTKY: What's your favorite halloween candy (or any candy)? What's your least favorite? I'm not a huge sweets person, BUT if I was forced to eat candy it would be Heath/Skor bars, candy corn, or Take 5. I don't like anything like gummy bears, with nougat ,or licorice.
@mayflower513 You have the cutest bump!! I had really bad constipation in the first tri. I started taking daily fiber supplements and eating 2 prunes a day too. It's done the trick and I've been fairly regular since then. I hope the miralax helps!!

  • How far along are you?
    17 weeks

How are you feeling this week?
Good. A lot of tugging and pulling sensations in my belly. Stuff's really starting to grow! I finally feel like I have a bump that doesn't completely disappear between meals :)

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I took a group of girls camping this past weekend (I'm a brownie leader, which is girl guides aged 7&8) and I survived! I agreed to go because I figured at 16-17 weeks I'd still be okay to sleep in a sleeping bag and have some energy for the kids. Luckily I was right. The other adults let me head to bed early every night, and took care of any heavy lifting, which was much appreciated! I think I will be retiring from brownie related activities in the near future though.

    Any upcoming appointments?
Anatomy scan on Nov 7. Can't wait to find out if we're having a boy or girl!

GTKY: What's your favorite halloween candy (or any candy)? What's your least favorite?
Favourite candy is definitely coffee crisp. And rockets.

Feel free to share a HDBD pic!
I need to get going on this! Will share later.

    • How far along are you? 23+1
    • How are you feeling this week? More of the same as past weeks. A little more tired because I wake up at 5 to pee and it takes a while to fall asleep again, but that's ok.
    • Rants/Raves/Questions? Nope
    • Any upcoming appointments? Glucose challenge next week
    • GTKY: What's your favorite halloween candy (or any candy)? What's your least favorite? KitKat and twizzlers ATM, but with this pregnancy things change on a daily basis.
    • How far along are you? 18 weeks—which the Bump reminded me I’m exactly halfway through the pregnancy today.
    • How are you feeling this week? Fine! Physically, a super easy pregnancy.
    • Rants/Raves/Questions? Hmmmm…let me think…well this is neither but I’m finally starting to feel better about the baby’s health. Of course Ill feel even better after the anatomy scan and fetal echo. We have pretty much told all of our family and friends. Not FB or IG official yet and probably won’t be until the AS and Fetal Echo. I’m just too nervous to make it public like that to over 600 people who some are just acquaintances of course. And if something DID happen with the baby it would be none of their business. Meanwhile, we’re traveling to Phoenix next week. It’s work travel but I’m taking DH and DD with me and we’re making a little vacation out of it.  Also, not sure if I’ve told you guys, but I’ve been congested and using Afrin daily for literally over 2 years. I finally saw an ENT and found out I have a deviated septum which is why I can’t breathe and will most likely need surgery after the baby’s born. For now, the ENT said to use Flonase and Afrin as needed.
    • Any upcoming appointments?  Not this week.
    • GTKY: What's your favorite halloween candy (or any candy)? What's your least favorite? I like most chocolate everything. Don’t judge me but I absolutely hate candy corn. Also whoppers. Lol.

Will send over a bump pic soon from the work bathroom.

mayflower513 you look so adorable. My bump is as big as yours and im like 7 weeks behind you. Are you still on decaf? I’ve been drinking coffee throughout this pregnancy. Just 1-1.5 cups a day. That’s the one thing I can’t give up now, unless of course the doc tells me to.

halips that’s so awesome that your shower is planned! I wish I could have a second one. Hahaha.

scikap you’re a trooper! (get it?) for going on a camping trip! Can’t wait to see your bump!  Do you have a feeling if you’re having a boy or girl?

kristimh80 I enjoyed seeing your pics on IG. I don’t post much but I’m a huge instastory user. Your AS is so soon!

more14 Ooooh glucose test is coming up! Good luck! I thought for sure the first preg. I was diabetic since all I would eat was sweets. I mean so much candy and donuts and cakes. But no diabetes. This time I don’t have those cravings so not eating so many sweets but with my luck will probably have GD. Ha!

  • The bump is finally letting me log in and post!

    How far along are you?
    23 weeks tomorrow!
How are you feeling this week?  Pretty decent. Starting to feel large. Went for a fall hike up some bluffs on Sunday and felt very out of breath and out of shape. Probably due to baby and just not working out. I am thinking of doing a pre-natal yoga class with a friend, but I am not sure its good to start something new when I haven't been working out? Thoughts?
Rants/Raves/Questions? I am going to Denver this weekend to visit my sister (who is 6 weeks behind me) and then our mini baby moon is the following weekend in the FL keys. Each flight should only be 2-2.5hours, and I will try to get up at least once, so hopefully that will be good/safe.
Any upcoming appointments?  Not for two more weeks- at nearly 25 weeks. with all the trips and work stuff, i just couldn't make it in closer to 24 weeks. I feel like the 24 week appt is a little pointless since they just listen to the HB and ask if you have any questions.
GTKY: What's your favorite halloween candy (or any candy)? What's your least favorite? Like some of you, I am sweet/sour candy girl (sweettarts, sour patch kids, starbursts, skittles, etc). I really don't like some chocolate like Almond joy or butterfinger.

@mayflower513- looking good with that adorable bump! can't believe you (and alot of us) are getting so close to third tri!

@halips- I am having a large family shower on 12/9 (with my sister, who is only in town then). I am having a work shower on 12/17 and then a small friends shower on 1/6. Its hard with the holidays, but I felt like any earlier was too early and any later (past 35 weeks) is getting too late.

@scikap- good for you for going camping! I went around 15-16 weeks and it was fine. but now at 23 weeks, I think I would be getting uncomfortable. I can't wait for your AS!

@kristimh80- that is a LONG roadtrip! Hopefully your last long one of the pregnancy!

@drove2u- glad you are feeling better about the baby! The anatomy scan will hopefully be very reassuring! I waited until after our AS to post anything publicly about the baby too.

    Back for # 2!
    • How far along are you? 17 weeks, 4 days today
    • How are you feeling this week? Feeling good overall! Though, I've started waking up in the middle of the night because my left hip hurts (which is usually the side I sleep on). So that's annoying. Also, I need to get a bit more active I think, I have hardly worked out at all this whole pregnancy and I'm not planning to run a marathon or anything, but I need to start walking and just moving more in general, I think.
    • Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant: The main system I use at work (which is supported by an external vendor) appears to be down and they didn't give us any notice. Rave: I got a new cranberry orange tea and it's SO good!!
    • Any upcoming appointments? Level 2 ultrasound on Monday, 10/26. I'm really excited and also nervous. I can't wait for it to be here!
    • GTKY: What's your favorite halloween candy (or any candy)? What's your least favorite? Currently I am obsessed with Reeses peanut butter pumpkins, I think they're so much better than regular Reeses peanut butter cups. In general I prefer chocolate candy, but I do love Skittles. Least favorite - I can't stand candy corn. I realize that may be polarizing haha.
    • Feel free to share a HDBD pic!
@scikap - Sounds like your Brownie trip was fun! I'm a co-leader for my daughter's 1st grade Daisy troop, we haven't braved camping yet.

    @mayflower513 - Love that bump!!

@halips - Woohoo shower! Do you live in Ohio or in Illinois? I'm in IL, outside Chicago. I don't know if we're having a "shower" but one of my friends is going to throw me a "fertility party" and I'm really excited! (Think sugar cookies decorated like embryos, etc. Totally weird but it's going to be amazing.)

@JamieH2000 Your upcoming trips sound like so much fun! Can't wait to hear how your baby moon goes! We had considered the keys as well, but didn't know is there was a zika issue still. But it's so pretty down there!

@Drove2u That's great that you can take tour family with you on your trip! Hate to hear about your septum! Hope you're able to get some relief of some kind til you are able to have the surgery.

@uterusdreams Oh my goodness...your fertility party sounds so cute! I'm with you, I've started making myself move more, even if it's just walking around my office more to get steps in.

I'm with you girls...can't stand candy corn!! For me, it's only good for decorations!

On the Babymoon subject....where is everyone planning to go?

We originally were thinking Hawaii, but thinking may do a more of a quick flight place like Scottsdale or California coast / Palm Springs. I always feel like I have so much time, but it's all starting to go so quickly!

  • Don't hate on the candy corn! <3 It's simply an acquired taste!

You guys are way braver than I was -- I basically camped out in my house for 9 months

Of course, that was probably because I had traveled during my first BFP (I got the BFP literally the wednesday before we left for France for a month. I had two of my betas done in the town we were staying in...45 euros a pop, not bad!) and I had a MMC discovered the week after we got back after good betas thus far. I know it wasn't the travel's fault but I just have a mental block around traveling while pregnant as a result.

We're doing our first vacation since that trip next week -- Disney! I'm excited  Sounds like everyone has some fun trips planned!  Our weather in FL is finally starting to cool off a bit so the Keys will be gorgeous and not too hot!

    @Drove2u
My husband had that same surgery several years ago after years of congestion, allergies and nasal problems. He had the deviated septum and two large polyps. The surgery was a bit rough as far as recovery for the first day or two but since then, between his allergy shots and the allergy medicine he takes, he hasn't had any problems and can finally breath clearly. • @kristimh80 16 hours, wow! Glad you're feeling ok for it! Hawaii sounds awesome, but the flight sounds terrible lol I had friends just come back from Scottsdale and said it;s gorgeous this time of year!

@more14 good luck with the glucose testing!

@Drove2u glad you're feeling better about baby! Have a "sprinkle" for you and baby!

@JamieH2000 sounds like were' having similar stuff! My work is throwing a party too, but I don't know when. They just told me to act surprised lol I totally get the not wanting to do it after 35 weeks, especially if any travel is involved!
Enjoy your trips, they both sounds like a great time!

@uterusdreams   I'm in he NW suburbs outside Chicago. Was born and raised in NE Ohio though, so family is doing a  shower when I'm home for thanksgiving, I don't want to travel after that! I love the fertility party idea, so cute!!
I've been waking up with hip pain/sore glut since about 18weeks. I'm sorry you're having it too. Let me know if you find anything that works to alleviate it!

  • @uterusdreams- omg the reeses pumpkins sound sooo good right now! The fertility party sounds fun! I'm sure it will be like a shower where people still bring gifts! While all the baby stuff doesn't seem so expensive after doing IF treatments, it will be nice to not have to buy everything that we need for baby!

@kristimh80- yes based on what I read, FL and even the Bahamas are good for zika now! But I am still bringing my bug spray and probably will get freaked out if I get alot of bites haha. You should def go on a trip! When are you thinking?

@mbradfo2- if I had a loss right after travel, i would feel the same way as yoU! But glad you are getting in a trip now. I hope its a blast!

@halips- Have you tried a pregnancy pillow? I am starting to get sore hips/belly but I haven't splurged on a pillow yet. Just wondering if its worth it. Work showers (at least at my work) are the best since they are pretty low key and alot of people tend to contribute (probably just social pressure haha), so girls normally get some nice big items from their registry taken care of!

@drove2u- aww looking so cute! I feel like you are carrying nice and high! I feel like mine is lower and looks more like a beer gut lol

  • @JamieH2000 same with my work, everyone (even the men) contribute cash and then they end up buying a few larger gifts. And they are definitely low key, so no stress!  I do have a pregnancy pillow, but it doesn't seem to help for me. I've tried putting soft pillows under me, a folded duvet, more pillows btwn my feet etc. Nothing is working. I may try the chiropractor next to see if an adjustment helps. I'm waking up every hour to switch sides and stretch, it sucks! I've never been a side sleeper, so not sure if that's why it's harder for me or not.

  • @kristimh80- That sounds like perfect timing- somewhere warm when its so cold!!

@halips- let me know if you try the chiropractor route. I have some bad upper back pain in the evenings and I wonder if its from worse posture throughout the day. I am also a back sleep. 23 weeks now and still waking up on my back often. I am going to talk to my OB and see if its really a big deal or not. I am not sure what I can do but force myself on my side with pillows, but then I think my sleep quality will definitely go down.

  • @JamieH2000 I still roll over unconsciously onto my back. I have a pillow betwen my knees, but I also bought a pregnancy wedge and put it behind me...so if I'm on my left side, I place the wedge (thin side) up against my hip area behind me so that when I inevitably roll onto my back, at least my right hip is propped up so it's no big deal. Seems to be working so far!

Since everything I have heard its an issue for us before its a bloodflow issue for the baby. But I def want to ask the OB at my next appt in two weeks!

  • I need to look into a wedge too! I'm still back sleeping and not having any real issues. I'll get a little hip pain here and there but about it. Wonder if it makes a difference with the type of bed you have. We have one of those that kind of molds to your body where you don't feel anyone else move in the bed.

I know I've seen some PAIF's say they didn't find BMB's inviting, but I've had good luck on the March board. So thought I'd share in case any one wanted to try it out :) It stays busy like the IF boards.

  • @JamieH2000 and @tosh24 , I'll have to look into the wedge/some sort of pillow. It happened again last night, ugh. Stupid hip pain.
Re: back sleeping, I thought that can be an issue later in pregnancy but really only once your belly gets pretty big/heavy?? Also, there's a reason that sleeping on the left side is recommended, right? But does anyone know why that is?

  • About showers: we are planning one the week after xmas when my sister will be in town visiting, and may do another small one (let's say a sprinkle) later in the spring for anyone who can't make it to the first one. I'd prefer to have just one, but we're trying our best to please a lot of different people. Luckily I get to just sit back and let the planners (my sis and SIL) deal with it! There will probably be some kind of party at work as well before I leave.

  • @halips I am in the Western Burbs (Glen Ellyn)! Can I ask who your fertility doctor was? (I feel like this has been discussed before so I'm sorry if I'm repeating things here.) I went through FCI with Dr. Sipe for this pregnancy but had previously gone to InVia and seen Dr. Klipstein.

  • The sleeping on your back is an issue because the weight of the uterus/baby cuts of blood flow to the placenta. I would not chance it if you can avoid it.  I actually have a wedge so I will try putting it behind me since I hate it in front of me anyway, good idea @tosh24!

  • JamieH2000 typically prenatal yoga is pretty calm. I’m sure it would be fine to start. I mean I’m not your doc, so don’t take my word for it. I haven’t exercises in a while and went to one regular yoga class. Totally fine! That’s so fun that your sister is 6 weeks behind you. Have fun in Denver!

uterusdreams whats a level 2 ultrasound? I love the idea of a fertility party! So fun!

kristimh80 we’re not doing a babymoon. Just going to phoenix with the baby next week. Even the first time we didn’t have a real babymoon. My DH just tagged along with me on a work trip to Nashville and Austin but mostly because there could’ve been a chance I go into labor so he wanted to be close by. I did not go into labor there. Thank goodness!

LOL-yes red face. You see my face on IG. This is such a public forum and we’re not public about our fertility issues.

mbradfo2 I had a similar experience. With my first BFP which actually happened naturally and then never again…I was traveling for work to Canada and started bleeding mid-flight. I knew what was happening and was so upset. Had to continue on as normal and do all of my work stuff. Bought a bunch of preg tests and kept testing which were of course coming up positive. Called the doc etc. anyway it was quite awful. But I knew that the flight didn’t cause it. Or me traveling didn’t cause it. Talked to RE later when I started fertility treatments and a bunch of docs at OBGYN practice and everyone said being on a plane will not cause a miscarriage. So once I got my second BFP which stuck, I traveled on a monthly basis like I normally do. I can see how it can be scarring though and glad you are now taking a trip! It sounds like it’ll be a blast!

That’s very encouraging about your DH’s surgery. Not looking forward to it but kinda am so I can breathe again. Haha

@halips sprinkle isn’t a bad idea but I don’t think it’s going to happen honestly. My mom is pretty sick and I just don’t have the energy for it. Luckily one of my local friends has an almost one year old boy and will be giving me all of his clothes. Plus, I have all of the previous baby stuff. We will have to buy things like a double stroller and a couple of other things. But right now, whatever we can buy gender neutral for DD we are. Like gray  snow pants. Ha!

scikap  so many parties! That sounds like so much fun! Enjoy it! I think having showers and celebrations after fertility treatments just makes it that much more special and meaningful.

I'll try to check in again soon but enjoy the rest of the week everyone!!
  • @Drove2u Haha I get it! We aren't public with our IF issues either besides close friends / family know. I always thought one day I'd make one of those cute hearts out my needles, but they are still sitting in a bag lol I'd still count your little work trips with hubby and baby a mini baby moon! Least for them it's like a vaca and you're away from home to relax a little together <3

  • @drove2u- I am leaning towards the yoga. I was just reading about pelvic floor/kegels and was thinking maybe yoga could help with some of that abdominal strength!

@halips- any chance you could share a link? the ones I am seeing on amazon look shorter and more for lounging up right in bed?

  • @JamieH2000 If you want to try out some prenatal yoga on your own first, here's a couple of decent youtube videos. These are beginner friendly and you can see if you like it! I've been trying to do it mostly at home in the mornings using free videos, and I might try to find a real class nearby at some point.

  • @kristimh80 I don’t know how helpful it was. I still ended up on my back but it wasn’t uncomfortable so maybe it’s enough of an angle that the weight moves to the side.  I hear you... I am normally a stomach sleeper so I seriously struggle right now!!  Between my arm and my hips.  I find it I make sure my shoulder is not on the pillow but under or in front of it it seems to help the shoulder pain.

  • @mayflower513- thanks for sharing that! I may have to try that one out first since its so much cheaper! Also, alot of my friends OBs told them its more of a myth about sleeping on your back.. so its hard to know how concerned I should be! I think i will try not stress until i talk to my OB in 2 weeks. Baby is only 1lb right now, so really not heavy compared to what it will be later!

@scikap- thank you for sharing! I am going to try it out! Of course part of the draw of the class is my pregnant friend is doing it and when I pay, I am more likely to actually leave work and go ;)

  • @Drove2u It's a very detailed ultrasound - pretty similar to a "normal" anatomy scan from what I understand, but they can target specific areas and look more closely at things. So I'm having this with MFM at a nearby hospital instead of at my OB's office.
