Re: 3rd trimester check-in | w/o oct. 22nd

  • 29+1 today. EDD is Jan 7th.

The ankle and foot swelling is getting out of control. Doctor checked urine and no protein and BP was fine, but I am so uncomfortable. It feels like my skin is going to rip open from my knees down. And my ankle and knee joints feel stiff, I'm guessing due to the swelling? I need to buy some compression socks. Thinking of getting a massage for some lymphatic drainage too so hopefully that will help. Otherwise, still just fighting insomnia and exhaustion.

My 30 week appt isnt until 31 weeks because my OB is away...so not until Nov 8th. Just found out I passed my GTT though!

Probably won't get bags packed for another few weeks. Did purchase a coming home outfit though (team green). It's in the spoiler. Also, I know it's not HDBD yet, but bump pic included too!

@tosh24 Sorry about all of your swelling! I know several other ladies have used the compression socks and say they work great. Hope you get some relief soon. Congratulations on passing your GTT!! And you look absolutely adorable!

  • @mag1cbeli3ver I hope you feel better soon!

@tosh24 sorry about the swelling. Have you tried eating more protein and enough salt? According to Dr. Brewer we need to eat about 100gr of protein a day and use the salt to taste (too little salt is not good). I try eating alot of protein and it seems to be working. Also love the outfit so cute!

    • How far along? EDD? 32w5d 12/12
    • How is everyone feeling this week? Good! Usual stuff like pain and aches but those are expected. Baby's head pushes down and give me some pelvic pain but Dr. said as long as its not consistent and very painful they are fine.
    • Any upcoming appointments? Had one this morning. Everything looks good. Next one with the high risk doctor in two weeks to check the growth.
    • GTKY: Hospital Bags and Coming Home outfits! Do you already have your bags packed and have you picked out what your LO will wear home?? I dont have them ready but were planning to get things going in the next 2-3 weeks.

@tosh24 I feel you on all the swelling! I mean BP and Urine are coming back fine but at the end of most days my ankles and feet are huge. I am trying to work until delivery and my doctor doesn't see a problem with that but my body might  :D Oh and I love the bump and the coming home outfit you have picked!! SOOO CUTE!!

@mag1cbeli3ver I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. I got a little worried when I didn't see you check in this week but feel free to start it up again next week. I was just your stand in  ;)

    • How far along? EDD? 34+4
    • How is everyone feeling this week? Feeling pretty good this week. Just normal aches and pains but other than that still doing fine.
    • Any upcoming appointments? I had an MFM growth scan yesterday and babies are still growing well. Baby boy is 4lb 10oz and Baby girl is 5lb 12oz so hopefully we will be able to bypass NICU time the longer they stay in! Kidneys are still bright on Baby boy but they said it hasn't really changed so that is good. All they could say is I should consult the local Children's Hospital after birth to make sure they are ok!
    • GTKY: Hospital Bags and Coming Home outfits! Do you already have your bags packed and have you picked out what your LO will wear home?? Right now we have not packed or picked out an outfit. But I have a lot of cute clothes that I have in mind for the babies! I am wondering if I should have them match or not. If anyone has any suggestions to outfits we are open  B)
    • Don't forget about HDBD or PIP your nursery! I don't want to scare you all with this bump again this week haha!

  • @mag1cbeli3ver Sorry to hear you aren't well. Being sick while pregnant is no fun. I hope you feel better soon! DH remembered that he accidentally bought some compression socks instead of normal sweat socks a few years ago and still had them in his drawer. I've been wearing them around the house and, so far, they seem to be helping!

@Ilky Thanks for the suggestion! I have heard the thing about eating too little salt, but I don't think that's my problem (I crave salty foods rather than sweet foods so I have to watch my sodium intake). But, I hadn't heard the protein thing before so I will try to up my consumption and see if that helps. Also, at my u/s last week baby was head down which explains all the pelvic pressure I've been feeling, so I can commiserate with you there!

@Joslynj11 Glad your growth scan went well! The babies seem to be a good size! I have a friend who delivered twins at 40 weeks and both of them were about 7.5 pounds, which is so awesome but sounds insanely uncomfortable. Glad you are still feeling pretty decent and are able to work. The swelling is no fun - a lady on my BMB described it as looking like she shoved her thighs into her shoes and I have to agree hahaha!!! The outfit I bought off of Etsy and it was way overpriced but I totally justified it by deciding I deserved it after waiting so long for this baby :p

  • @tosh24 nice outfit and bump!!! And if it is preeclampsia they are worried about, less salt is actually better!

@mag1cbeli3ver  hope you’re feeling better! I think I’m starting to have something as well and i have a slight sore throat.
    • How far along? EDD?
    33w 6d
    • How is everyone feeling this week?
I’m good. Just the regular back and hip pains. That got a little stronger yesterday. And tomorrow is my birthday I’ll be 34 weeks pregnant and 43 years old!
    • Any upcoming appointments?
On Monday I met with a nutritionist who said they will let me eat more carbs so I could start gaining weight again. Because as a vegetarian it is more challenging to be limited by carbs. And as a result they will just increase my insulin dosages. Also had NST on Monday and one tomorrow. Baby is still breached. I’m getting a little nervous about it.
    • GTKY: Hospital Bags and Coming Home outfits! Do you already have your bags packed and have you picked out what your LO will wear home??
Oh no. I haven’t done anything yet! But starting the maternity leave a week from tomorrow. So I’ll start organizing stuff at home. Still planning to not buy stuff until baby is here.

  • @prudence9-2 Happy early birthday!! I hope you're not coming down with something - it is NOT fun! Glad you met with the nutritionist. Hopefully the increased carbs will help with the weight. How exciting that you're so close to maternity leave, too! Sorry baby is still breech - FX he turns around soon. I have a growth scan tomorrow and I'm curious to see how baby is. I have a strong feeling he may be breech (or transverse) too.

@Joslynj11 Glad everything looks good with the babies! As for clothes to go home in, I always found matching twin outfits to be so cute, no matter how cliché others may think them!

  • How far along? EDD?
34 weeks 4 days! EDD is Dec. 1st

How is everyone feeling this week?
Finally getting over this head cold/sinus infection/whatever it was. I was so wiped out all weekend!! Pregnancy-wise, feeling pretty good. I still feel like I'm very mobile and sleeping has been better, so that's a big win!

    Any upcoming appointments?
We have a growth scan and NST tomorrow morning! I can't wait to see baby bean again - we haven't seen him since the AS on July 3rd! I'm really excited to get an estimate of how big he is and what position he's in.

GTKY: Hospital Bags and Coming Home outfits! Do you already have your bags packed and have you picked out what your LO will wear home??
Bags are not packed! We just had the shower on Sunday, so I'm working on washing all the clothes and blankets and such. Then we'll start going through stuff and picking out a coming home outfit and gathering things for DH and I for the labor and delivery room. With 5.5 weeks to go, guess I need to get on this!

Don't forget about HDBD or PIP your nursery!
We got our proofs back from our maternity shoot! I think they turned out so well! The pics (in spoiler) were taken back on 10/13 when I was 33 weeks exactly.

  • @tosh24
Yeah, the stiffness is due to the swelling that inhibits normal movement. I felt like my ankles and toes were super stiff and hard to move properly when I was at my peak swelling (which was actually AFTER the baby was born....all the excess fluids you are getting rid of + the saline drip/etc from the hospital, etc). I tried to stay off my feet as much as possible and keep them slightly elevated so the fluid would drain off. That also relieved some of the discomfort.

I actually never had bad swelling prior to hospital admission even with the pre-E; the high risk OB said I was just one of those odd cases that really didn't have a clinical manifestation of pre-E that was particularly alarming -- while my bloodwork -was- somewhat alarming.

  • @mag1cbeli3ver love the pictures. you look great  <3

For breech positions, I highly suggest you guys take a look at spinningbabies if you haven't already yet. They have lots of positions that will for sure help. My baby was breech too now he is head down. I did some of their positions and I also see a chiropractor.
  • Thank you everyone!

Had our growth scan/ultrasound yesterday. Baby bean looks good! He's weighing around 6 lbs, which is 72nd percentile, so I'm okay with that. And he's head down!! Yippee! Appointments every week now - next is on Halloween!
