@madasm0530- glad the scan looked good!! My understanding was that it was impossible to tell gender at a scan during 12/13 weeks, so I am guessing you found another way maybe? Congrats on the boy!!

So this is me at 21+4. I look small from the side but actually bigger from the front I think. I guess this may be normal for FTM? Please disregard the dirty mirror and messy hair. It was just for my sister and would have pulled it together more if I had planned on sharing originally haha

@JamieH2000 she said it wasn't easy, but she definitely found the anatomy. she told us that she would be "very surprised" if it wasn't a boy.

@JamieH2000 I looked exactly the same at 21 weeks with my first. Don't think I put on my first mat clothes until around 24 weeks. If you have a long torso you'll also show less quickly

Lol @JamieH2000 you look fine - I have taken and deleted so many pics lol! Some people carry differently, too.

I looked through old pics and I can’t even compare up until the last month because my OHSS bloat lasted forever this time and I don’t know at what point it became a true bump. I THINK I did “pop” earlier this time... I’m not sure if that’s the biggest difference. Having said that I went back and looked and this was 23 weeks last time and this time for a FT/ST comparison.

Last night DH got his from his work trip and was like "what happened to the baby"? I was like, you mean all the bloating I had from eating like crap lol

@madasm0530- gosh I hope she is right! I just read that before 14 weeks, the anatomy is just not formed enough to be able to tell, but maybe you guy is a little ahead!! I am sure they will double check at all future scans. Do you have any before the anatomy scan, or just that one?

@tosh24- thank you! I think I am pretty average (5'6'' and started around 150lbs), so I guess its just how I carry. Hopefully it will really pop soon! I think those of us that have struggled for so long want the bump more than others since for me, I wanted a bump for so many years!

@mayflower513- those pics are adorable! I don't see a ton of difference, but think you are a little more petite and thin than me so you really pop nicely! Can't wait to see how it grows!

@JamieH2000 I was measuring 14 weeks (a few days ahead). Hopefully she was right. She showed us the little teeny parts and there was more about how with a little girl it would have looked different but I was too excited at that point to listen. I'm going with boy for now, but cautiously. We have our anatomy scan early December at 20 weeks so we'll know for sure then!

Our u/s tech at ~14 weeks told us what she thought to be gender (girl), but she said not to pick out colors yet even though she was fairly certain! It did end up being a girl though

She pointed out where she could see the "hamburger sign" which is basically how female genitalia look on the scan. Boys look more like turtles

@JamieH2000 I am about the same build and I didn't have a good, always noticeable bump until 30 weeks or more. Baby girl came a few days late at 6lbs5ozs. Which I hear is a great size

@joslynj11= aww thank you! I am glad its normal, but selfishly i kinda want a big bump sooner than later! Of course I don't want the uncomfortable part that comes with a bigger bump (like what you are dealing with with the twins!).

How far along? 17 weeks + 1 day EDD 3/27

Appts this coming week? I had one on Tuesday and baby's doing good, HB at 159 bpm. My doctor told me I have an anterior placenta and it may be a little while longer before I can feel the baby.

How're you feeling this week? I'm feeling great so far.

Rants/Raves: Raves - seeing belly grow everyday, dried mangos (constant craving); Rants - headaches 2-3x a week (doctor said it's normal)

GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? Not getting dressed up this Halloween. I'll be working night shift!

scikap so happy to hear your dad will fighting. It’s actually crazy what they can do with cancer now and how they can slow it down. Is he going to a good hospital?

I am struggling with the healthy snacks too, and we also bought halloween candy, but we get like 200 kids so it gets expensive! I need to stop eating it myself! LOL

@JamieH2000 LOL I bought a bag of halloween candy a few weeks ago. I said once it was gone, I wasn't buying anymore. But MH has a big sweet tooth and always bags of some reeses snack mix, etc in there. I tell myself, if I don't have it, I won't crave it. I did cave when his staff for Boss's Day gave him a huge box of cookies

ohhhh im soo guilty of the halloween candy trap. I buy it too early and MH and I eat it all. To be fair, he also has a huge sweet tooth so I'm not eating it all myself. No more candy until 10/30.

I swear it never ends with me. The genetic counselor called from the hospital today.
1) I have my fetal echo scheduled which is good
2) The first Panorama test came back as 1.2% fetal fraction. The Maternit21 test came back only two weeks later with a 7.6% fetal fraction. The GC said it's pretty impossible for it to rise that much in just two weeks but it's also still considered low. But the Maternt21 with a fetal fraction of 7.6% did come back as low risk for everything.
Since the fetal fraction is low the GC said there could be chances of chromosomal abnormality that won't be found in an ultrasound. But then she also said there's not enough research to really prove this. So do I get an amnio for peace of mind or just let it go? All of this is really based on NOTHING. It's based on "well, there COULD be a chance" but that's not even based on statistics. She's like "well you could take another Maternt21 test" I said no. These tests are shams. haha

Ugh @ drove2u... it really doesn't ever end. With me either, so I feel your pain!

Personally, if it was me, I'd probably have the amnio. Only because I'm such an anxious person/worrier and wouldn't get able to let it go. But then I'd have anxiety over that. Such a tough decision and I do not envy you for the position you're in.

Upon more thinking... what does fetal fraction have to do with the ability for an ultrasound to "diagnose" an issue? What type of chromosomal abnormality? I don't know if I'm buying it. And, my fetal fraction at 10.5 weeks was around 8.5% which isn't much higher and no one said anything about it being low. I get that you were a bit farther along for this test, but shouldn't the information be the same conclusivity (probably just made up a word) no matter at what point in the pregnancy it's taken at? Does that that make sense?

@Drove2u i just checked my MaterniT21 Plus report and it said fetal fraction 3% but my GC never said anything about it when she called with the results. They all came back normal.
I also read that the percentage can change from day to day and the range can be 1-30%. I don't know how sensitive the test is and I think they worry only if it comes back with some kind of abnormality.

I think the answer to wether or not to get an amnio depends on what you would do with the results. If the amnio will say something is wrong, what will you do? How will that affect your pregnancy. If the results are just for your personal knowledge, I personally wouldn't take the chance. If the results will determine the future of your pregnancy, I would probably do it.
Anyway you look at it, this is not an easy decision and I am keeping my fingers gets crossed for uou all the way.
Whatever you choose, we're here for you!
