My M&Ms got stuck in the vending machine. AND THEN the building manager gave me a dollar to get them out, so I got two packs for the price of one. And ate them all.
AFM, DD slept all night in her big girl bed! I mean, it wasn't seamless, but it could have been worse.
Also, my Mom had to have an emergency crown put on last week and she doesn't have dental insurance (newly retired and living on a single income), so she had to pay $1400. Now, she's debating even driving to Denver for my sprinkle this weekend. I totally understand and am not pissed, but I'm just bummed. I want her to come stay with us for a few days after the sprinkle and hang out with us and DD...she loves it when Nana visits. I also want her to help me change the elastics in a bunch of our cloth diapers. Well, I basically need her to reteach me how to use my sewing machine. We've offered to pay for her gas and fix dinners and she's too proud to take us up on it. I hope she changes her mind.
@PensiveCrayon yep! It's 53 cents here, prices vary of course. If you do a small size cup it should be free though I used to work there and this one pregnant lady would come through daily and get 4-5 Route 44 cups of ice!!
@clbness My love it was about DD sleeping in her big girl bed - sorry about your mom maybe not attending your sprinkle! I hope she is able to make it after all.
@clbness so sorry your mom is in that position and feeling like she has to choose between being there for you and her own independent self-respect. Can you spin it so that you are paying for the gas etc because you really need her help and she would be doing you a big favor by coming? If the sprinkle isn’t enough of a reason, maybe play up having to find someone else to teach you on the sewing machine and how much money and hassle it would save you if she would come help? No idea of this would work for your mom, but probably would for mine.
@musicictylady That is awesome! Now I want some of the coffee nut m&ms.
@clbness Oh no! I 'd do as @texas_t said and send her money. Be like you're coming, no excuses. I've thought about needing to replace elastics in our diapers too. I'd have to look at youtube videos and do it by hand because I don't have a sewing machine.
I had my glucose test on Saturday. I am waiting for the results. They were sent to my doctor yesterday and I should be able to access them on LabCorp at 1:00pm today. So annoying. I realized I could just call my doctor and ask for the numbers, but I dislike talking on the phone. I figure if I didn't pass, they would have called me. My arm is also super sore from the blood draw. I guess my veins were small because I hadn't had a lot to drink and I didn't eat anything before going in because time. The first time she stuck me it hurt SO BAD, it doesn't usually ever hurt. Maybe a tiny pinch and that's it, but this hurt. She wasn't really getting much blood so she had to restick me, that one felt find. The place where I was stuck first still freaking hurts.

@texas_t@katy0990@maureenmce@Katzalia@AdorkablePixie Unfortunately, she is not coming, but she will come for the week before Thanksgiving and will help me with the diapers. She even told me I could send her some diapers now and she will replace the elastics for me. I'm totally OK with her not making it to the sprinkle, as it's such a small, no fuss event anyways (I wanted it that way because I don't like the attention ). When she comes in November, it'll be JUST US and I'll have more quality time with her anyways. When my IL's are here, it gets a bit (ok, a lot) hectic and I'm sometimes irritable when they're all in our house. She shipped the baby quilt off yesterday, so I will take that to the sprinkle and show off her hard work.
Ok, I know I asked this question on the question thread back in the summer, but what video monitors do you guys recommend? We used an audio monitor with DD and want to get a 2 camera monitor this time around. I keep going back and forth on what I want on Amazon...the Motorola ones have awful reviews and I'm so bad about not ordering something because of bad reviews. I had a Motorola one on my registry and it is now temporarily unavailable. Thanks in advance!
@clbness we used Angel Care on DS because the motion sensor pad was an incredible sense of relief. We have a Hello Baby monitor as extra that we would use when traveling and what not, so I decided to just buy an extra camera for that one. It's honestly super cheap and works well enough for us! We do plan on using the Angel Care for baby again, and will have to carry around 2 monitors until we feel comfortable enough to put baby on a regular one without the breathing sensor pad. And now when that time comes we'll have the additional camera that I bought and we can still bring along the Hello Baby one for when we are traveling or going to be at either parent's place during naps/bedtime. I reeally wanted to get the Infant Optics, but decided to not spend the money. That was a lengthy response, sorry! Also, I'm sorry your mom isn't going to make it I'd be bummed, too! Hopefully her visit in November will be extra special.
@clbness We have the infant optics monitor. I had a hand-me-down motorola, and it was fine because it was free, but I'm glad we got the infant optics. You can buy multiple cameras for it, to put in different spots or different rooms. I haven't heard anyone who was unhappy with it.
Finally got the insurance switch sorted so now I can stop being in a constant state of anxiety about it! Woohoo! Now I can focus on smaller tasks for the day, like how the hell im gonna get my toenails painted since I’m too cheap to pay for a pedicure as we move into boot season.
@AdorkablePixie That is crazy that you have to wait so long! Mine was also Saturday morning and my results were available by the time I woke up Sunday morning.
@clbness I am glad that her visit in November will be better for you, as far as quality time. We also just used an audio monitor with DS and plan to use the same one again.
@Jens_Hoes@temmetime Thanks for the feedback on monitors! I might just put the Infant Optics on there with the extra camera. The only reason we created a registry was for the completion discount and since the monitor is really the only thing we need this time around, we're totally ok with paying for it ourselves. We've been fortunate to receive so many hand me downs with DD (infant seat, snoogle, clothes, shoes, exersaucer, swing, bumbo, etc) and clothes for this one, that we're not expecting gifts. MIL did ask DH what we wanted and he said that money towards a monitor is all he could think of. @katy0990 Our audio monitor is on its last leg and I wanted a video monitor this time for some odd reason.
I know not many people do WIFI monitors but I love the Yi Home camera we have. It has monitor features (like crying and movement alerts) and I love that I can peek in on my kid even if I’m literally in Norway. Yes there is always the possibility of getting hacked, but you don’t control the angle from the phone — only manually — so no creeps can change it to watch me BF or anything.

@clbness if you can wait, wait until black friday, there might be a ton of sales including on that. I plan to buy my crib mattress, noise machine, curtains, curtain rods, sheets and anything else I need for baby but don't need right away then.
@PensiveCrayon That's right, I remember you saying the Yi home camera. I'll look into that too, thanks! @Jens_Hoes Good call on black friday! I can probably wait...and probably will.
@clbness I forget exactly which of their models, but we use the Summer Infant brand monitor and like it a lot. We had another one from our registry and it died within like, a month? I have no idea what happened there! I wish I could remember what brand that was and tell you not to get it! But the Summer Infant has been going strong for over 2.5 years now!
So quick question about the video monitors... are they not all wifi?? The reason we haven't wanted a video monitor is because I was under the impression they all needed wifi and we are NOT all about wifi being hooked to something that has video of our child(ren) on it.
@clbness Sorry that your mom won't get to be at the sprinkle, but having her all to yourself sounds like a much better deal anyway!!
@katy0990 I keep holding off on the STM thread because every time I post it you post it at the same time. lol Should I just go ahead and do it?
I got my glucose test results back.. I passed! My number was very low, 61. I don't remember what it was with DS, but I think it was relatively low too.

@AdorkablePixie Go ahead and post! I’m out of GTKY questions also, my understanding is that all monitors, including audio, are easily hacked. I remember being able to listen to cell phone conversations on my sister’s monitor, years ago. Congratulations on passing your GD test!
@maureenmceI've heard the Summer Infant ones are good, thanks! Maybe I'll compare that one with the Infant Optics and weigh the options.
@rosebud332 Sweet, thanks for another good review of the Infant Optics! Decisions, decisions...
@AdorkablePixie Way to pass your GTT! And OMG, 61 is super low...I don't even think my fasting # is that low! Yes, we'll have my Mom all to ourselves and she will have B and I all to herself...it's a win all around, really.
@katy0990 I was kidding. We may end up just using DS's old monitor. He doesn't really need one anymore, he just calls to us when he is ready for us/needs us.
