CD 3 E2 level = 80??

We are currently doing RPL testing, and we also re-tested my FSH & E2, since it has been a year.  My FSH came back great at 6.9 (was 6.7 a year ago), but my E2 level was 80.  What in the world?  My day 3 E2 has never been this high.  Last time we checked it, it was around 30.

I'm strongly suspecting that I have a cyst that is causing this.  My RE noted a cyst several months ago during one of my u/s, but didn't think much of it.  He said it was on the outside of my ovary, and was likely some sort of birth defect that's always been there.  Now I'm not so sure.  I think I am definitely going to be requesting the lap.  Last month, I was unmedicated, and my ovaries were so painful around ovulation.  It felt like I had 10 follicles or something. I think we need to find out what's going on in there.

Has anyone else had a high CD3 E2 level like this?

Re: CD 3 E2 level = 80??

  • They have never suspected a cyst with me and I've never had my E2 tested on CD3 until today actually!  But I was on Follistim for 2 cycles prior and with 3 failed IUIs and one that ended in a c/p.  I am opting to get a lap done this cycle before venturing into IVF.  Endo is known to cause implantation problems, which are sometimes associated with a c/p.  I would think especially if they think you have a cyst and painful ovulation that a lap would be in order.  I'm scared of the pain, but that's the one and only way to REALLY know what's going on in there.  I'm not sure what your next steps are after the RPL, but I think it would be helpful for you do get a lap as well.  Good luck in whatever you decide is best for you!

  • When my E2 is that high on cd 3 it is always cyst related.  I have a cyst just about every cycle and sometimes they are producing estrogen and sometimes not.  If you are having pain at ovulation, you might have a cyst.  That is how I always know if I might have an issue with my next cycle if I have lots a pain around ovulation and/or right before AF comes.  Can your RE do an u/s to see if a cyst exists?
