TTC After a Loss

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Candlelight vigil ideas

I'm helping a friend organize a PAIL candlelight vigil on Monday. This will be the first one our town has held. I'm wondering if anyone has ideas or have been to one previously and can share some information. Right now we are planning to light up a landmark in town in pink and blue and then we are gathering in a park to light candles for an hour. We have a tree donated that we will hopefully plant and we have about 50 river rocks to place at the base and white markers to write on them. My friend will likely say a few words (she lost her baby girl at 36 weeks). Any other ideas or tips for things we should do or not do?

  • I go to a walk.   One can write baby’s name on a paper butterfly that’s on a stick and then each name is read and then butterflies are put in flower pots or you can take it home.  As the name is read, the family can either pick up butterfly and put in flower pot or take home.  They read a poem then release live butterflies.   It’s very nice  sometime in the middle of service we walk around a lake.  This walk is held at a cemetery so lake is small.  But they have a special area in cemetery for child loss specifically MC and very early child loss.  There is a monument there and that’s where service is centered around.
