*Trigger warning for previous child.
Hello,
I (35) have been observing and learning for a bit and decided to join so I could contribute and discuss since my wife (28) and I just decided to start IVF with ICSI due to infertility on my end. Until a couple of weeks ago, IVF was not an option I would have considered because I have a daughter (10) from a previous relationship and preferred to adopt.
We have been TTC for three years, since I had my vasectomy reversed. All this time we were under impression that it was unexplained infertility on my wife’s part as a handful of analysis on my end came back good to go. Or so we thought.
We went to a new fertility doctor and upon first analysis discovered I had an antibody in my sperm, causing the infertility. We were advised IVF with ICSI was our only realistic option. We consulted with a few other fertility specialists and decided to start IVF.
We are expecting to start in November with egg removal.
My wife isn’t into forums and message boards. She mostly consults with a friend who is also going through this.
I am on here to learn and know how best to support my wife as we go through this.
Re: Introduction- Hello.
What types of stims is your wife doing? Is she looking at doing a fresh or frozen cycle.
Honestly It sounds like you're doing the right things by coming here to learn about how to support her. It's a hard process physically, emotionally and financially and having an empathetic, knowledgable partner is everything. I'm sure the two of you will find your grove of what she wants to take on and what she needs your help with - whether it's helping her with shots, planning the calendar and appointments, doing research, or making sure she's getting good food in her! (In our family I like doing my shots and I do the organizing and scheduling, my husband makes sure I'm eating the right things (he cooks), taking the right vitamins and staying low stress/taking time for me.) My advice is talk about how you want to approach IVF and see how she wants you to help. I'm sure you both will be great! Oh, and If you haven't already, join the November IVF board! Lots of people going through the same thing at the same time you are.
Diagnosis: Unexplained

We’re getting our meds Friday and will find out which protocol she’ll be on. We’re on November calendar for fresh egg retrieval and ICSI, cautiously optimistic we have a good batch.
