I have my 28 week appointment tomorrow. I get my RhoGam injection, but other than that it’s just standard stuff and answering my list of questions. Thankfully, I found out today that I passed my GD test!
AFM, Thursday is my regular OB appointment. Concerned about the huge jump in my weight. Hoping the doc isn't too concerned. Getting the TDAP and possibly scheduling a growth ultrasound?
My appt was good. It was at 9 and I am home on the couch at 9:17. I love my office lol. Weight and bp are still good for now, so we just wait around 2 more weeks to see what happens! Good luck everyone else with appts.
@katy0990 YAY for passing GD! @morgantu I am so jealous of being back home 17 mins later!
AFM, I have an appointment with my OB on Wednesday. Should be pretty standard. I'll be getting my flu shot and maybe my TDAP, although that may wait until my next appointment so both arms don't hurt!
@katy0990 Congrats on passing the test! @scaredunprepared My weight has gone up a lot too - like 4 pounds in a week! I'm thinking baby bean had another growth spurt, but now that puts me over what our initial total weight gain goal was, so... I'm expecting to hear something on Thursday at my appt. FX neither one of our OB's is concerned! @lexidawg How has the swelling in your leg been lately? Hopefully it's been better since you've been working from home more often.

I have a two-weeker on Wednesday, should be routine. @echo-charlietango What is your OB recommending for the TDAP? @hoosiermama-2 I have not had GD with either pregnancy and my OB has had me start bi weekly appointments after 28 weeks and weekly at 36 weeks. Is it possible that is their typical procedure?
AFM I had my 28 week appointment today. It was uneventful, except for the fact that I had a 4 o’clock appointment and did not get called back until 4:50. Then, we didn’t leave until 5:50, so that was fun. I got my RhoGam (my butt is soooo sore now) and flu shot. Heart rate was 146 and I’m measuring right on track!
Now that I think of it, it is just one extra appointment. She did say because of GD when I asked if that was normal - but must've been referring to just that extra one.
@mag1cbeli3ver good luck to you! Like you, I hope both our OBs aren't concerned! Baby girl definitely has had a growth spurt, but that doesn't explain ALL the weight.
Found out at my 30 week appointment yesterday that the doctor wants to induce me at 38 weeks due to my blood pressure. My list of questions to ask went right out the window when she told me that and I didn't end up getting the TDAP shot, she said we will do that at my next appointment which is 32 weeks. I will also start weekly non-stress tests at 32 weeks until baby arrives. I know it's only a 2ish week difference but I feel a lot of pressure to get things done now!
@echo-charlietango also curious what your OB said about TDAP? I didn’t think there was much debate about that one.
AFM, no appointments this week, but I’m set up for biweekly until 36 weeks now! and my thyroid labs came back good, everything exactly in the range we want, so apparently I’m stabilized on my current dose of meds.
@katy0990@Katzalia My OB prefers TDAP immediately after birth instead of third tri. Normally I think I’d be okay with that small delay, but my SMIL is an anti-vaxxer now and I want kid to be covered as best possible if she disregards our distance requests. (Pretty unlikely she’ll show up unannounced though, she never comes to see DH and I (because she's "allergic" to our dogs - not her dog, just ours))

@echo-charlietango I wonder if your OB is following outdated regulations, because in 2016, when my son was born, receiving the vaccine postpartum, was the norm. Apparently, they only changed the recommendation recently because of the increase in whooping cough cases, due to the non-vaxxers. I would ask if you can just get it at your next appointment. If not, your PCP should be able to Give it to you.
UGH I wrote a whole post with tags and everything and the Bump ate it.
Anyway, starting over, I had my 32 week appointment today and all was well weight, blood pressure and baby heartbeat wise, the only thing is I'm borderline anemic. And that was based on a blood test from four weeks ago and I've been SO tired since then, so I assume I'm fully anemic. My OB wants me to up my iron intake, diet wise, and go back to my traditional prenatals with iron (I switched to gummies 3 weeks ago or so, due to some GI issues) and see how I feel in two weeks. If I'm still so exhausted I'll take another blood test and start iron supplements. So, in the meantime I am going to be looking up some iron rich foods! She suggested red meat and Total cereal, anyone else have any iron rich foods/recipes they like?
@Katzalia Glad your thyroid is stable! Mine is too and I'm so relieved about it!
@echo-charlietango I wonder if you can explain to your OB that you have anti vaxxers in your family and would prefer the peace of mind of a TDAP shot now?
@maureenmce I am sorry to hear that you are anemic. I hope you are able to change it with diet. Idk much about high iron foods to recommend, but you may want to start taking a still softener, as a precaution.
@katy0990 He might be following an outdated reg - since this is my firstie, I have been totally unaware of prior TDAP recommendations.
@maureenmce I'm certain that he'd understand if I tell him about the anti-vaxxers! Guess what I'm bringing up tomorrow
Re:Iron I was also *barely* anemic too, from the blood taken with my GTT. We also agreed that dietary changes are all I need, so more red meat for that good heme-iron, and more nuts and beans for non-heme. Cashews and prunes are my jam now. In addition to cheeseburgers because I heart cheeseburgers. Oh, and I cook in cast iron as much as possible, so we're eating a little more chili than usual

@maureenmce My go-to recommendation is to get a bottle of Floradix from Amazon. It's just a little shot of sweet iron-rich juice you take once a day, and I haven't noticed that it's constipating at all. It does turn my pee yellow though! (Don't know if it's also B-vitamin rich or what.) I haven't gotten my iron results back yet, so we'll see if what I'm preaching actually makes a difference!
Other than that. Beeeeeef.

@maureenmce This is totally an Eastern European thing and can gross some people out but liver is a great source of iron. Liver + onions + mashed potatoes are a comfort food for me
@PensiveCrayon I have heard recommendations for Floradix more and more, wouldn’t hurt to try it eh?
@ab_canada Mmm, I actually love liver & onions, but this part of the USA fries the hell out of most meats and it’s sad really. Maybe I just need to get serious about making it myself. Any recipe recommendations?

@echo-charlietango my 10w blood work showed I was a little anemic. Dr actually prescribed me Floradix twice a day. I have been bad and haven't taken it in a while. But because I am having my blood work next week I am definitely taking it now!
@PensiveCrayon Thanks for the Floradix rec - I'd never heard of that before! I'll have to look into it!
Btw, did you guys know that a serving of pumpkin seeds have as much iron as a 1/4 burger??? 15% of your daily needs! The more you know (after googling iron rich food all day.)
@ab_canada My mom actually loves liver and onions but I've never tried it. I suppose now is a good time to give it a whirl, though not sure about the onions and my reflux - but they're cooked, so maybe it'll be ok!
@maureenmce I’ve been borderkine anemic too but they said still “pretty good for a pregnant lady” so I am just supposed to keep working on dietary sources. It’s a good excuse for extra steak or burgers. I also have been doing tons of spinach — either in salads, steamed or sauteed with butter & lemon, or cooked with pasta, basil, & cheese. Other high iron foods I eat a lot are eggs, black beans, and yes, pumpkin seeds (I put them on salads or in oatmeal).
@echo-charlietango My understanding is the reason to do the Tdap during pregnancy is to confer some immunity to babe in utero. Current ACOG recs suggest best timing is the earlier the better within the range of 27-36 weeks gestation:
@echo-charlietango@maureenmce So I came home last night and made liver and onions My dog is still going nuts this morning because she LOVES liver. The recipe is super simple - lots of onion (fried up until getting slightly translucent), throw in some liver on ~medium heat until there is a nice fry mark on it or you stop seeing blood (liver should be slightly pink inside; brown/grey inside means it's overcooked). The onions add a nice sweet note. You can also add some cream towards the end - it makes a nice sauce and also makes it a bit sweeter if you tend to think liver is bitter.
Our two week appt went well overall! I had glucose in my urine this morning, and had lower than usual blood pressure. Apparently oatmeal isn’t a good breakfast for me - my OB agreed that the insulin surge wasn’t helping. I got super lightheaded and pale *twice* in the exam room both times after being on my back for a minute, so kiddo is very skilled at pinching off my vena cava. Thx. Kid is also head down, and not descending -yay!
Everything else was good. I asked again about TDAP and he said 32 weeks is best (didn’t ask why the answer changed since last appt) so I’ll get that next week with my non-baby clinic. He said that there are no more ultrasounds (unless something happens), and confirmed that now he only delivers at the hospital with the Level 3 NICU now - so I don’t need to choose hospitals.

@echo-charlietango I also cannot wait on my back without feeling lightheaded, did your babies I also cannot wait on my back without feeling lightheaded, due to baby’s position. I’m glad you will be getting TDAP during pregnancy!
