Emma Stone is totes my girl crush (one of them, at least)! That wasn't a FFFC, just a statement. Hmm, trying to think of a FFFC and my brain won't work.
If my baby shower tomorrow is messed up tomorrow I am going to be really pissed off. This shower is being planned by DH’s sister and is at our house. I don’t even know what time she’s coming over tomorrow!!! I have this awful feeling she will be late for the party she’s planning because she’s late for everything and I will murder. Trying to not think about it too much cause I won’t want to be stressed but there will be 20 people here! My type A OCD cannot handle it!!!
My shower (both my side of the family and H's side are doing it together) is next weekend and my MIL told me in passing the other night that my FIL was going to bring my 2 yr old nephew by for about an hour because "the whole family wants to see him." I feel ridiculously selfish saying this out loud (which is why I'm saying it to you all instead of H) but can't we just have a few hours of it only being about my baby? It's not like there are relatives coming in from out of town who never see my nephew, all except 2 live local and the 2 who don't live local are staying at my in laws for 4 days and will see him plenty. I love my nephew to pieces and it will end up being totally fine but I am irrationally annoyed about it for now.
@scaredunprepared Sorry you gained nine - when was your last appt? @lippy625 Ugh, I would be annoyed too. Sounds like she's using your shower as an excuse for some freebie it-takes-a-village nephew watching.
My tiny FFFC is after all of this shower talk, I kind of want one too, haha! At the very beginning I told DH that I didn't want one because I hate them (true story), but that was before learning about Display Showers, or simply being in charge of it to keep it themeless and gameless. If we did have one, his coworkers would be the only ones to come over, and I don't want them to feel burdened to buy the registry. A virtual shower wouldn't be in the cards, and our family isn't going to drive 10-20 hours to come see me pregnant. But hey - one of his friends is giving us TWO very nice infant carseats that his kid just grew out of. So instead of us buying a new mid-range infant seat, we're getting two very nice seats - one for each car (both unexpired and not damaged). We should have them in hand in a week or so.

@echo-charlietango ditto on the shower. We just moved last year and dont have a lot of friends here. All my family is back in west coast so I had just given up on a shower (also.. we're first generation immigrant - baby shower really isn't a thing in Korea) but seeing all the photos is making me go squee.
@hkom Cars going too fast in parking lots is like my biggest pet peeve of all time. Parking lots are chock full of pedestrians and cars backing up - of all the places you DON'T need to be speeding, that's gotta be st the top of the list!
FFFC for me: I had an incredibly tough day at work and with DD throwing a tantrum to end all tantrums at the grocery store, so I caved and bought her the cupcake she was begging for and I got a giant one for myself too. Probably looked like the world's biggest pushover mom, but I had *just* been dealing with a 40 minute (!) hysterical tantrum in the car leading up to that second meltdown and I had no fucks left to give, as they say.
@maureenmce no flames for the cupcake! DD will screaming in her car seat so bad she will throw up. I will do ANYTHING to stop that screaming. I can't imagine going through that and then another one about to start.
@maureenmce cupcakes are life. Unless you can get the berry chantilly cream cake at whole foods, then always get that. Mmm now I want cake for breakfast. Another fffc?
@echo-charlietango less than 4 weeks ago! I dunno what happened because my eating and activity haven't changed. Slightly scary. Also, I don't blame you for wanting a shower now. Could you have a small one with DH's coworkers but not tell them about the registry so they don't feel pressured?
@hkom I totally laughed at your ffc! Not that i wouldn't have done the same thing!
@maureenmce I am such an old grumpy person about people driving fast! It's so so selfish. People fly though our neighborhood/city, which is very walkable and has a TON of pedestrians at all times of day and it makes my blood boil!
@echo-charlietango I absolutely abhor baby showers. I didn’t want to have a shower for my first at all, but we kept getting asked about it/requests from people to throw one for us.
We ended up having a co-ed shower, which was really just a house party and such a good time. It went for 7 hours. Probably 70 people showed up over the course of the day. There was lots of drinking and dancing. No games, just two fish bowls where people could guess babies birthday and name suggestions. We requested no gifts but of course got some. None got opened during the party. It was exactly everything I wanted it to be.
It was nice to be with friends and celebrate the coming baby and our growing family. But to do it in a way that felt true to who we were.
I dont think we’ll do a “sprinkle” this time around, but if we do it will be very similar.

Re: FFFC 10/5
I very obviously favor one of my dogs over the others! No guilt, either. She's the best and I don't hide it.
Also, I've gained 9 lbs since my last appointment! Holy cow! I'm a little worried now.
