Since we're having our second I don't think I'll be having a shower. I had to throw my first one and frankly wouldn't throw myself another. My best friend said she wanted to throw me a sprinkle for this baby when I first found out I was pregnant but hasn't said anything since. And with all the holidays coming up, I'm not counting on anything happening. So I'm slightly jealous of everyone's beautiful showers.
@hkom I don't blame you for not wanting a shower, especially while John is still in the NICU and you're going through a lot emotionally. I'd wait until a bit after he's home and just do a meet and greet type deal. I also probably wouldn't be going to those social events. If you're not up for it, don't go!! There is no obligation. Worry about YOU first and others second.

We are on our 3rd and since we've already had one boy and one girl (both under 4) we aren't in need of much. Only big ticket items (like 3 new carseats) so we don't feel right making a registry and having people buy stuff. We did a gender reveal though which was fun even though the rain ruined every single thing I had planned for that day.
@MDKC14 Have you considered creating a registry just to get the completion discount on the car seats?
I did at Target and received the 15% off offer just the other day. But Amazon still has them cheaper than anywhere else. I plan on waiting until black Friday or cyber Monday and buying them though.
@MDKC14 Yes, amazon has the 15% discount if you have prime and 10% if you don't! I plan to do the same, we get our coupon the end of this month and then anything leftover on the registry I plan to purchase on Black Friday or Cyber Monday with my coupon. I great thing with the amazon discount is that you can use it up to two times!

you guisssseeeee i just stalked my registry and my cousin got us the glider and ottoman for the nursery! It was by far the most expensive thing and i was really just thinking about the completion discount! But yippee!!!! And my shower is sunday and I'm getting excited, although I have no clue what to wear.
@AdorkablePixie it is! I am assuming (and hoping) that she ordered it on behalf of her and her moms, so it will be a group gift. We went for a glider that is super comfy, but not cheap. I am so excited to get it in and set up now!
I have my first baby shower on November 4th... my sister and my mom are throwing it. Apparently they were going to make it a surprise but decided to tell me considering they are using my house so I dont have to travel and haul everything back home - pretty excited about that! I'm looking so forward to it and can hady wait!
On the other hand, my MIL is frustrating me... she doesn't believe in baby showers before a baby is born... for many reasons I kinda disagree with.. so it has recently come about that his family will throw a baby shower for us at the end of March/early April.. I really dont see the point of calling it a shower considering anything we dont have by the time baby is here we will be buying and by the time March rolls around baby girl will be 3-3 1/2 months so it might as well be a sip and see... I do and i don't mind at the same time.. its kinda taking away from the excitement of my first baby... sorry to vent but I don't want to voice it to anyone else.. I dont think they will get where I'm coming from...
@jackie_jsm ugh sorry they're doing that when you don't want to! I want to say you should tell them you'd prefer not to do a sip and see/shower after baby, but idk if I'd do it myself as I'm just too nice of a person. But, I feel like it's your baby so you have a say when it comes to having a sip and see/shower after baby honestly. I will say though, at least they planned it far enough out that flu season will be ending and baby will have hopefully built up some tiny bit of an immune system by then! But still I'd probably wear baby the whole time or keep people from touching/holding him honestly, which I know would probably piss some people off (in my/DHs families at least), but again, my baby my rules.
@Jackie_jsm That makes no sense. What's the point of a shower after baby is here?! I agree, it would be more of a sip and see. I don't know why they don't just suck it up and attend your shower. Either way, your shower will be great and I hope you enjoy it! My shower is the day before your!

@CecilB93 I'm definitely the same way - I can't bring myself to say anything I don't want to upset anyone and I think I'm too nice to say "seriously!?" Haha but yes, you are right about flu season so there's a positive.
@AdorkablePixie it's nice that i now dont feel crazy for thinking this way. Thanks for agreeing... seems silly to call it a shower but I am so looking forward to next weekend, I hope yours is great!
We made a backdrop for pictures, rose gold! Had such a great time so many friends and family! My MIL hosted and keept the food simple but yummy! (Catered sandwich and snacked like cheese, chips, and dip) We got two giant suitcases worth of gifts (mostly cute clothing) and had to vacuum seal it to fly home.
