Reproductive immunologists? (with TW)

Calling all my RPL friends!!! Who here has seen a reproductive immunologist? From what I have gathered there are four worth seeing in the states. I’m trying to decide which to go with- Kwak Kim, Aimee, Braverman, or Alan Beer. Anyone have any comments on any of these doctors?

Short back story- TTC 4 year’s, 6 pregnancies all miscarried. Mostly male factor with minor Endo recently discovered ( and right tube removed). For reference, we are located in Las Vegas and should have IVF coverage and will see Dr Sher for IVF.

I have known two friends go to Kwak Kim and who have had success! I’m in the Midwest, so That’s the closest option. But I def think it’s worth looking into for your case!

I’m sorry I can’t make a referral for these folks since i haven’t progressed to possibly needing them, but I wanted to say hi since I’m also living in Vegas. I see dr. Fisch at Green Valley Fertility. Jealous that you have IVF coverage.

@northbeach3 ! We have a consult at green valley too! I told my h I wanted to consult with all of them because I’ve been burned by two different REs now. How do you like it?

Well I chose Dr Fisch mostly bc of proximity. I live and work on the east side of town. But I’d also read that his practice is much smaller than Red rock and I think Sher institute. (I think I read somewhere that Dr. Fisch studied with Dr Sher).

Anyway, I love the smallness of his practice. He’s the only RE so he does all your scans, retrievals, and transfers. He calls you with updates on fertilization and beta results. His staff is small so you get to know all the nurses and even their contracted anesthesiologists. I don’t know what it’s like at other places but I hear that there are often techs who do the scans and you don’t get immediate feedback.

The only things id counsel on are that Dr. Fisch usually takes a more “slow” / less aggressive approach, so if you want to move faster, you have to ask. For example, although I had six IUIs covered I didn’t want to keep wasting cycles trying after my fourth attempt. I think he would have been content exhausting those before moving to IVF. After my second MC, I felt strongly about being tested for clotting factors. I had to ask bc I didn’t think he was going to offer. He’s never denied my requests but I sometimes wish I didn’t have to advocate as hard. But I think that’s true of health care generally.

The only other issue is that they limit the number of women who IVF/FET cycle each month. Don’t know the max but think it’s somewhere around 30 / month. I’ve never had a problem getting booked for a spot but they try to do all retrievals on the same weekend and transfers the following week. I need medicated FET but I presume they may also for natural FET.
