DH surprised me at my OB appt on Tuesday. I thought he was at work, but they called my name and suddenly there he was! He also lets me sleep in on the weekends, which is basically the best thing ever.

I am not having an easy pregnancy. DH has pretty much picked up the parenting and cleaning/cooking slack, not to mention still has time to fuss over me. When I’m rude or grumpy, he’s always like “you must be in so much pain, pregnancy seems so hard”. He was literally like that for my pregnancy with my daughter too. Honestly I don’t know where I found this guy.

Mine just took me out for ice cream. And, listens to when I say I want some sort of food, and gets it for me! (I’m all about the food these days). Yesterday he got the food I wanted and took it to my parents and then even fixed something over there, too. It’s all about the little things.

DH let me rest most of the day yesterday which was so needed. I do all the planning and work for our vacations and after flight delays yesterday that got us home two hours later (which isn’t much, but with two toddlers, might as well be the end of the world), I really needed downtime. I didn’t even put on pants yesterday. It was really nice of him to take on laundry and watching the kids.

DH has led the packing charge for our move, despite being a super short notice time crunch and everything. He didn't get mad yesterday when I needed packing or watching DD breaks. We're spending the next 3wks at his parents b4 we can move into our new place and he got me a massage to use while here bc he knows its stressful.

He surprised me by coming home a day early from his work trip last week. I cried when I pulled in tge driveway and his truck was there. He has also been amazing about food if I have cravings. He drove to the store at 9pm last night to get m&ms for my popcorn.

He made the 5+ hour each way trip to come home this weekend, and is planning to do it again two weeks from now. It's a long trip for roughly 36 hours at home and he is stressed and sleep deprived from training. I wouldn't fault him at all for not doing it. But he came home and while here he was happy to do all the household stuff I can't do and go to an expecting parents thing. I was really pleasantly surprised by his lovely mood

I can just tell he is making such an effort to be chill about a lot of stressful things for my sake.

This thread is a nice reminder...

My husband did something that left me (once again) in awe of his natural parenting abilities. DD has been fighting her naps a lot lately (girl has serious FOMO). Typically when I put her down and she is not asleep in 10 minutes but rather playing and talking to herself I know she is probably going to skip her nap.

Well yesterday he put her down for her nap. She was talking and playing and bouncing around her crib for a half hour. Then she started crying so I went in there to see what she needed and she wanted out. I said no it’s time for nap and she flipped out crying (bc she was overtired at that point). I tried to console her but nothing worked and I left in a huff. My husband said let me see what I can do. Then not 5 min later he is back out of her room and she is asleep! I asked what he did, said he rocked her and then laid her down and rubbed her back and she was out. I was blown away. She never settles back down like that with me.

This is just one of many examples where he steps in when I feel overwhelmed and frustrated and somehow just knows what to do to make things ok again. He is such an awesome dad and partner and I’m feeling so lucky to have him.

We're getting a new bed delivered tomorrow and he took charge with vacuuming, steam cleaning the carpets and moving furniture around. Then he surprised me by cleaning out the now dormant jacuzzi tub so I could take a bath. So luke warm bath here I come!

Came home from work just now, all the dishes are done and there's a box of apple fritters on the counter. H knows exactly what I need sometimes!

The other day DH did all the grocery shopping and even washed and cut up fruits/veggies. And every morning, even pre-pregnancy, he makes me a breakfast smoothie! #spoiled

DD1 had a sleep study this week that I was planning on going to, since I was going to need to take her to school right after anyway. I’ve been so exhausted though that DH volunteered to do the sleep study and I just met up with them the next morning after getting a nice, uninterrupted night of rest. Sleep studies suck, so it was a major sacrifice for him to offer to go. So thankful.
