MBF 10/1

Didn't see this yet for this week, and I actually have something to complain about, so I figured I'd start it...

Re: MBF 10/1

  • I'm trying to get my daughter a flu shot. She's 2, and in PA only PCPs/urgent care can give most pediatric patient's vaccines. Her PCP in only offering 2 flu clinics in the next 1.5 months and the timing is very inconvenient for my work schedule. I tried calling one of the other branch offices with more clinics scheduled, and I can't take her there because she isn't a patient at that specific office. And I could take her to urgent care, but the insurance doesn't cover it there. GAH. Everyone harps on getting the shot which I am all for, but why should I have to bend over backwards to get it for her?!? Why the F can't I take her to a different office in the same practice? It's only a simple shot, not a sick visit or wellness check.. Isn't that the point of electronic medical records?!?

  • @Mandamay1414 that's annoying! I'm in PA and never had a problem getting DS his shot. Will your insurance cover like a walk in clinic at CVS/Target/etc. ?

  • @ladystout08 CVS minute clinic was my first thought, but my ins will only cover it at PCP, Rite Aid, or Giant Eagle. The two pharmacies listed will only do adults or kids age 9+. Ugh. I did bite the bullet and schedule her at her PCP's clinic. I'm just grumpy that it's at 6:15 pm on a Tues, which is right in the middle of our usual dinner/bath time.
  • Man I'd be annoyed too. My DS is five so maybe they aren't as picky? We just made a nurse appointment at our PCP and were in and out in like 10 mins.

  • That is really annoying @Mandamay1414! Speaking of, I got mine at my OB appointment last week, but I need to get H and DD in for theirs. I told him this, and he now thinks it's hilarious to make jokes about not getting it. Claiming to have become an antivaxxer, etc. Dude. It's not funny.

My MBF is that I dragged myself to the pool early this morning even though I really didn't want to, and there were no open lanes for me to swim in. Because they hadn't put up the lane lines in half the pool for no good reason. There was one spot I maybe could have squeezed in, but it made me nervous to even think about it.

  • I'm to the point where if there is water on the counter in the bathroom or kitchen my belly sucks it all up. I need people to start wiping down the counter if they leave a mess. My shirt is not their paper towel or their mom. I'm annoyed by the two wet spots I've had today that weren't my mess.

  • I live 45 minutes from the closest fast food place. I want to cheat on dinner so badly, and I can’t.  Who actually wants to make a big dinner every day?! Definitely not me.
  • You guys ever work with coworkers in different depts just unwilling to help/being difficult just because?

Late night insomnia crept in so I decided to catch up on some emails. This coworker emailed back late at night also and I’m just annoyed at the tone.

I should not give AF but they suck.
  • @AliKay20 @sarahsaurus-2 I’ve decided people are the reason why work is terrible. If I could do my work in a vacuum and not have to deal with people...man would I enjoy it more.
  • I'm a day late but I'm in the depths of continuing education hell. I have to maintain a certain number of credits for one of my professional certifications and I haaaaaaaaaaate it.

  • @ladystout08 I am currently working to meet deadline on submitting a CE course, and it's boring on this end too. Also I'm glad you're taking it now lol we pushed publishing until the end of the year, hoping that people were procrastinators and would be more likely to take it in Oct/Nov/Dec.
  • My cert "expires" if I don't finish my CEs by January but I want to get it done before the holidays and such. Plus I know we have some big projects coming down the pipe at work so I want my training out of the way to tackle the projects head on when we get approval/funding.

  • CE is the wooooorrrrrst. I hate it. So is annual compliance and AML training. I get it! money laundering is bad. I have had to take this stupid course every year for the last 14 years. I GET IT.

I wish the courses were actually fun. I could get behind some of them if it wasn't monotonous and boring and soul sucking.

  • @sparkymcgeee I got a little excited when they revamped our Cyber Security Awareness annual training to an interactive scenario based training but they haven't changed it in several years so it's now old and boring again.

I feel this on a deep level. The counter in the women's bathroom at my work is almost always covered in water (mystery leak no-one has bothered to fix) and I end up getting it on my shirt at least every other trip to the bathroom. I'm short so between belly and short legs, I end up leaning all in the water just to wash my hands.

That's exactly where my issue lies as well. The womens room at work. Clean up your damn mess people! (for my situation. A leak would bug me too)

@ladystout08 I think I know EXACTLY the training you're talking about. Kevin from IT with the 5 o'clock shadow and blue pull over sweater? It's much better than the boring slides we used to have to flip through.
  • Wednesday bitch fest...I am currently in my last stage of a rotational program. Historically how it's worked is that you just stay in your last rotation permanently until you choose to apply somewhere else in the company. They just changed the process so that now everybody has to apply for a permanent role within the company once they finish rotations. However they are making some exceptions and designating certain roles to be permanent.

I was talking to my manager today and found out that they've already made a decision about my position (aka they know whether I'm going to have to scramble when I get back from maternity leave next year to find a new job or not). But they're not allowed to tell anybody until January. My last day of work is December 21st. So frustrating!
  • @kaf1788 well that is really annoying! Do you think you could put in a request through HR or something to find out before your leave? That feels like it would be a reasonable exception for them to make!

  • @MrsDho11 My manager is pushing for senior leadership to make an exception for me so I have my fingers crossed!
  • @tosh24 people at my company (a global corporation with more than 16,000 employees) will sometimes send all hands emails. Unintentionallly, most of the time. And the emails asking people not to reply all generally outweigh the people hitting reply all. Sometimes it can be quite comical. But we use Google so we can 'mute' the chain, so at least that is nice. We also use Google, which is what causes the unintentionall mass emails.
  • @molosmiles I'm using Google and I didn't know about the "mute" function. Thank you! You have saved my sanity.

I know it's Wednesday but my BF has to do with an email chain from Monday that won't die so it counts, right?

People need to learn when and when not to use REPLY ALL. Our school volunteer coordinator sent out a call for volunteers, and for 2 days I've been bombarded with emails from people about why they can/cannot volunteer for the event. Thanks Susan but I don't need to know all about your luxury European cruise you're taking next week (bitch) or about your hangnail removal, Karen. Just reply directly to the coordinator in private. It's really not that hard.
    So much this.

Our entire team listserv is added any time the EMR system goes down. Then we get 50+ emails back and forth from our IT team and EMR vendor reps on problem status updates. JUST REPLY ALL WHEN IT’S BACK UP AND RUNNING AGAIN.

The anxiety when you’re in a mtg and you see the inbox # rise every minute...no bueno!
  • A lot of time at my job people don’t reply all and then you have to go back and add people to catch them up... it kind of drives me crazy.
  • Reply all apparently is an art form that needs to be taught 😂😂
  • I feel the need to circle back to @Mandamay1414 and her inital BF about flu shots.  I made DSs appointment for his for Monday and told DH to get his when he takes DS because adults can do drop ins.  Before I even finished, DH goes off about how he refuses because they make him sick..  blah, blah, blah.  I basically told him to f-off, stop being selfish and that if he doesn't have it then he should rethink coming to the hospital because I don't want him there putting anyone at risk (yay hormones talking!).  He still argued and basically said he'll get it but if he gets sick then I can't complain.  Yea, I might have lost my sh*t after that one.  I honestly wish there was a common sense class men could take of things you DON'T do or say to your pregnant wife!
  • @bradleysmommy28 I hate that argument. You don't get sick from the flu shot, it's an inactive virus.

@bradleysmommy28 I'll be dealing with that with DH as well. In his defense he really never does get sick. I had norovirus and flu last year and he didn't get it. I text him today that he needs to get the flu shot for her and he said before she's born? Uh, yea. Mostly I'm live and let live but it is one area where I will browbeat and guilt him until he does it.

I'm mildly allergic to egg and get itchy but I still get it. Man-babies :)

  • @greenhillgirl they make an egg free vaccine.. I'm pretty sure it's called Flublok.. you shouldn't have to deal with itchiness if you don't have to :)
  • awww man. I just did the belly in the water on the counter thing. And I had to have done it to myself because I'd just been home alone with DD all day.

At least i HOPE it is water...

  • Mandamay1414 that's cool- I didn't know that. I will probably just do the regular one since it is done for free about 10 feet from my office and is the quadrivalent- fights the 4 strains they choose as most likely. I just get itchy for like 2 days on my arms.
