Symptoms? short version since I just did the symptoms thread: exhaustion, low back pain, nausea (though improved), reflux, insomnia, constipation, emotional and bitchy.
Upcoming appointments? GD test, baseline blood draw for pre-e (so they can compare later), and CBC (will check iron levels in particular)
R/R/Q: Having a crappy day so far, but hoping that exercise class tonight will at least be a cheer up moment. I got H to agree to let me hide the scale from myself this morning until some time when I feel ready to face it PP, so I'm hoping that'll be good for my mental health!
Speaking of mental health, even if I'm really tired and having a rough day today, I've definitely been very up emotionally the last couple weeks and not feeling depressed. It's really nice!
GTKY: I'm still trying to figure out what DD will be. I'll probably either be something related or just buy a shirt that I saw that said something along the lines of, "I'm pregnant and tired, just give me the candy." Don't want to buy the shirt until after I know if I have GD though!
Me: 30 DH: 32 ~~ TTC #1: Sep 2015 ~~ BFP: Mar 2016 ~~ Daughter: Nov 2016 TTC #2: April 2018 ~~ BFP: May 2018 ~~ EDD: January 2019
Sore hips and back. Finger get slightly swollen at night time
Upcoming appointments?
10/16 for glucose and 10/30 for growth scan
R/R/Q:
Rant: Pretty sure I have a sinus infection. Not sure if being generally run down helped it show up or people coming to work. Not a happy camper. Feels like I struggle to breathe which causes anxiety. So vicious cycle.
GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what's your costume?
Not sure. Was thinking about it and now it’s lost it’s luster. We will see once it’s closer
appointment: 10/10 with US because she hid her face last time.
symptoms: I am pretty tired, constipated, a little bit of nausea and some heart burn.
RRQ: I am starting to get anxiety about money and also daycare.. they don’t do wait lists here and I am concerned for some reason I won’t be able to get her into a place...
GTKY: not that I know of... I work in an office and we have decorated but I would have to buy a shirt as an outfit and I haven’t seen any around here and don’t feel like ordering...
Upcoming appointments? Every day is an appointment for me.
R/R/Q: Rave: I'm still pregnant.
Rant: They have me on an 1800 calorie diet, which I don't even eat all of because they give me too many carbs. And I'm not allowed to have outside food or snacks. Even the other diabetics get snacks, although I definitely don't want to do their standard diabetic regimen. So I'm stuck with hospital food and I'm so hungry. I don't get why they are being so strict, I was able to convince them to let me determine my own insulin dose for meals, my blood sugars are good, and I've only gained 7 pounds so far, but apparently I can't be trusted with my own food. The nurse said she would let me talk to a dietitian to see if we can change it, so I'm waiting on that. Until then, I might have to get people to smuggle some low carb snacks in to me.
GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what's your costume? Nope. I want to decorate my room though.
10/16 is next appointment- extended visit with the midwife team to go through labor and delivery stuff (I think) so DH will be coming with to that one- doing the glucose screening that day as well with my regular blood draws to check my platelet count
Being tired comes and goes- I had a lot of energy this morning and then crashed after lunch. Super sore legs at night and waking up really stiff- need to do some research on that!
I’m super anxious about baby coming and not knowing where we will be living! We have been planning on moving to our long term home around this time of the year before getting KU’d...... and now with baby less than 4 months away I’m panicky since we haven’t found a house yet!!!!! I’m also worried about daycare, since not knowing where we will be don’t know where to look/ and worried we won’t get a spot anywhere once we finally move!
Not dressing up for Halloween- I’ve only ever worn costumes when going to a party and haven’t seen an invite yet! I think DD has decided on being Rapunzel so I’ll focus on that :-)
Symptoms? The usual, my back is jacked, my acid reflux still gets me (although Prilosec has been a game changer), I had to quit caffeine b/c of BP spikes and I started iron supps to help my anemia. @MrsDho11 I just did some pre-e baseline testing and that's how we discovered my anemia!
Upcoming appointments? Second A/S and see my OB Thurs.
R/R/Q: I'm just ready to be done, already.
GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what's your costume? I have no idea. DS is going as Black Panther so we might pick characters from Infinity War but idk.
Symptoms? Hip & tailbone pain, acid reflux, the worst focus in all the land. I do feel like my energy has been up, so I'm cautiously optimistic about keeping up some form of exercise. Even if I can't tell by the way I look, it feels good.
Upcoming appointments? 10/12 standard OB check. I don't think I'm going to do glucose until 28 weeks. Kinda wanna get it over with, kinda wanna push it off. So feeling eh either way!
R/R/Q: So far my sister is one of those only-gain-weight-in-belly pregnant people. Meanwhile my face and thighs are ballooning into uncharted territory. Lol, bitch.
GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what's your costume? I found shark footie pajamas! Complete with a fin on the back. So I will probably wear those while watching movies and put the hood on if/when trick or treaters come.
Random days of belly cramping (I think it’s growing pains)
Upcoming appointments?
10/10. I’ll have an ultrasound to get a better look at baby’s spine since he was uncooperative at my anatomy scan.
R/R/Q:
I’m really ready to get to work on the nursery, but it will require a lot of work beforehand. We’re moving our office/guest room to our bonus room upstairs, which has been used for storage for 5 years. It needs a serious clean out and organization. To top it off, the previous homeowners painted this large room red. And not just the walls, but the stairwell leading up to the room and the ceiling. It’s going to be a beast to repaint.
GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what's your costume?
Nah, I don’t really get into Halloween.
Married: May 2012 DS1: May 2016 DS2: Jan 2019 Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
Symptoms? Joint pain (especially my right foot), insomnia.
Upcoming appointments? Podiatrist appt Thurs
R/R/Q: I just got back from a 2 weeks long work trip to Europe. It was exhausting and i had bad internet, so no bumping. Im still exhausted. To top it off, I interviewed (twice!) for a potential new job before i left and they want me to do a 3rd interview soon. I could hide my bump at 20 wks, but at 23 wks?! So I'm pretty stressed in general.
GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what's your costume?
I will probably not dress up. Just don't have any energy this year. I'll make sure DD has a fun costume tho
@pttomato I am a dietitian and worked in clinical hospital setting for six months. I recommend pushing for an appointment with the dietitian to help adjust your diet, the doctor normally just gives the standard diabetic diet but the dietitian can help customize it for you (including adding snacks and preferences). They will also take into account your current weight, the fact that your pregnant, and your current labs to be able to determine your correct calorie needs. You can even ask if you can have more protein or extra non starchy vegetables and see if they want to decrease the carbs. Doctors typically just go “oh she just needs a standard 1800 diabetic diet” and doesn’t take in account a billion other factors like maybe even the fact that you are pregnant ( since even though your carbs need to be regulated you still do need to eat a bit more). But you probably will get some educational material forewarning. If they are good though they will talk to you about what you normally eat to kind of figure out a better diet strategy while they are there. If you have any questions let me know, I can always ask other dietitians too. I have mainly worked with non pregnant diabetics in the hospital setting. normally women with gestational diabetes who came in had just been diagnosed and were there for a 24-48 monitoring period because their levels were too high and I focused on education and adjusting their diet for their short stay.
Symptoms? Intense hunger. Insomnia. Hip pain (esp laying down). Heartburn. Extreme fatigue. I swear it’s a throwback of first tri all of the sudden.
Upcoming appointments? Tomorrow for another scan by MFM (due to hx of preterm labor). And 24 week check up at my OBGYN on Friday.
R/R/Q: I can’t wait to join the dance party in the viability thread. Confession: while it’s a huge sigh of relief for getting to 24 weeks, part of me wants to wake up and be at 30 weeks already. I think I’m a little worried that this guy would want to come early so I’m trying to take it one day at a time and not overthink things just to worry myself.
GTKY: Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what's your costume? Yes! Our DD is obsessed with PJ Masks so we got her an Owlette costume. DH and I will be Gecko and Catboy. Hahaha. Ridiculous, right?
@mtengl I was able to get my calories raised and some low carb snacks. They still insist on giving me more carbs than I want so I just don't eat the extra. Which only works because I was able to convince them to let me decide how much pre-meal insulin to take. Having diabetes has really taught me how to self-advocate, since my diabetes is not "typical" so I do some things differently than the standard. I get frustrated by hospital rules sometimes. I've only gained 7 pounds so far and nothing in the week I've been here so I was surprised they had me on a lower calorie diet in the first place, but I'm guessing the doctor didn't think that hard about it since it wasn't the primary concern.
@pttomato when you said 1800 calories I was like that is too low. If you aren’t moving much, I would make sure you get plenty of protein just to be on the safe side (pressure ulcers are bad in hospitals). I am happy you know your diabetes really well, definitely make that known and advocate what you need. Unfortunately in hospitals diets are really standard and don’t take in people’s individual needs enough but it is like that because they have to keep things so simple and standard due to level of knowledge in the kitchen staff. The best advocate if they are good are dietitians when it comes to the diet. I am happy you got more calories and some snacks.
