We had a big front move through last night and it's in the low 60s and drizzly today, and I loooove it. H and I went to see LittleJohn this morning and I got in a 2 hour skin-to-skin session. J is almost back up to his birth weight and might get to trial without his CPAP again tomorrow. We finally got some furniture moved around so today I can start organizing the nursery. I'll go see J again tomorrow morning for more cuddles, then I'll spend the rest of the day tidying the house and getting my non - hospital life back together while H makes chicken wings during the Bills game.
@hkom I'm so jealous of that cold front. I've got about 50% humidity at 90 degrees right meow. Ugh. Happy that you're getting good baby cuddles, and that YH is making dinner
Lazy weekend here. Too hot for me to do much outside (beside seek shade and drink water), so I'm just hanging out in the living room with the dogs. DH is in Europe for the week so I am free to do what I like when I like. So...drive thru latte while the washing machine is running?

Nice and cool here too. H and I went to our local zoo this afternoon (I have such mixed feelings about zoos, but ours is accredited and is trying really to renovate all the exhibits). I just woke up from a nap, gonna tidy the house a little and go to dinner with some friends later this evening. Tomorrow is coffee with some other pregnant ladies, yoga, and packing. H says he's gonna make an apple pie, so keeping my fingers crossed for that!
We got a cold wave roll through IN yesterday too. They’re going to have to drag me off the plane in Atlanta. I can’t do an undetermined more number of months with weather like @echo-charlietango is describing!

@hkom LittleJohn is the sweetest nickname and I'm so glad he's doing so well!
I am jealous of anyone with actual fall weather, but at least it's only mid 80's here and not 90's like it's been lots of other Septembers. Weekend wise, we are trying to get all chores done today because my husband has to go out of town for work for three days starting tomorrow. Sunday will be fun and easy with DD, but Monday and Tuesday will be brutal because I have to drive her an hour out of my way to daycare (it's right down the street from my husband's work but an hour in the opposite direction from mine) then drive *back* an hour to work, then leave work two hours early, even though it's a crazy busy week, to make sure I pick her up before daycare closes. So! We want all the big chores done before that adventure and I'm trying to rest up too because I definitely am getting tired much easier lately.
@hkom I’m so glad he is doing well and is almost back up to birthweight. You are doing awesome! Enjoy your time at home!
AFM We have been in Austin visiting my brother. Things have been going really well and sleeping in the hotel with my sleep loathing 2-year-old has not been as bad as I feared. Today, we took him to Sea World and he loved it! Tomorrow, we are going to check out the Children’s Museum and I am really looking forward to it!
@hkom so glad john is doing so well. Little john is sucjlh a cute nickname, but i have to admit, everytime I read his name, i think of john boy (from the waltons) lol ive always loved that show. Also supper jelly of anyone getting cool weather. It was 90 in ga today!!! I feel so bad that ds just hangs inside with me, but is just to muggy hot and miserable for outside activities. On another note, guess who has two thumbs and just got a free breast pump through insurance!!!!! This lady!!!! Its the ameda purley yours ultra electric double breast pump. So stocked I wont have to fork out 250-300 for a pump.
@katy0990 I love the Children’s Museum in Austin. It also has a park right beside it. Its hot in GA still. We did swim lessons first, then soccer (h took ds1 and I was with ds2), then we went to our town festival for hours. I’m exhausted. Tomorrow we will try to do grocery shopping, Church and town festival again.
Sounds like everyone is having a nice weekend so far! Yay!
AFM- we are toying with the idea of getting a new vehicle so I was at the car dealership earlier test driving and having them “appraise” my current vehicle. What a joke. I love how they just make shit up “we’ve determined you have $4k in negative equity”. Also I told them I was interested in the 2018 models and they told me it would be best for me to get a 2019 model. How?? I told them I had to leave and to email me the quote ... we’ll see what happens. Then I met my hubby at his parents house and enjoyed the cool weather and a yummy meal (lasagna!). Tomorrow we’re going to do some shopping and lounge around the house. Next weekend is my first baby shower so I am looking forward to that!
@echo-charlietango do you usually not leave while the washer is running? @hkom glad you got some skin to skin and he’s almost back up to birth weight! Have they given you any indication how long he might have to stay in the NICU? @countrygirl624 yay for your shower, we need to have an AW thread for showers so I can live vicariously through you all
it’s chilly here too thank goodness! My mom came by to watch DD so I could start working on the “office/nursery” and I actually got a lot done. Unfortunately I’m still trying to fight off this cold, and DD now has it. I’m going to try to focus the next few weekends on cleaning out closets and purging this house.
Today was rough. Day two of no nap for DD. That made her super ragey and whiny the rest of the day. I put her in time out for the first time ever. She SCREAMED at me " no". I feel bad but she has to learn that that's not acceptable. Hopefully tomorrow she naps!
@katy0990 I don't know!!! Not to sound like an a$$hole mom but I was Soo done with her today. But right before bed she was laying with me, grabbed my face, kissed me and said " momma loves Jacqueline" which is sweet in itself but in her language it was " jacqueline loves momma". My heart melted and it was all better but gah kid just take a nap!!!
@echo-charlietango do you usually not leave while the washer is running?
No, I do whatever I like It was just a vain attempt to multitask while a machine did chores. It worked out though. I napped while the washer washed, then let Jimmy John's take care of dinner after I moved the laundry

@echo-charlietango We have a combined washer/dryer which in a lot of ways is annoying, but it is nice to be able to put a load in in the morning and come home to dry, clean (very wrinkled) laundry in the evening!
We are having another low-key weekend. Last night I was pretty bummed about my failed one hour test, but I've recovered somewhat. We went over to some friend's for the last grilling of the season and to celebrate some birthdays. Then we came back here and relaxed. Tomorrow there are a few things I'd like to take care of, but nothing major other than finishing an assignment that is due Monday. We are going out of town the next two weekends in a row so I'm trying to savor this one.
@kadeephd it's the equinox, so supposedly to makes it easier to stand eggs up on their ends. It actually worked, but I've also never tried it during non equinox times. It was just funny to me to have 3 adults lying on my floor trying to balance eggs.
@hkom yay! Glad to hear Little John is doing so well!
@countrygirl624 omg it's shower time already?! I agree with @Jens_Hoes, we need a shower thread so I can live vicariously through all you ladies having showers!
Afm, I went and got my hair cut today!! It's been over a year and a half since I last had it cut, I think he ended up taking off a good 6 inches or so? It desperately needed it! Then we went to my work picnic and had fun there. DS of course had a blast on the bounce houses, and we got his face painted for the first time! He did pretty good! Especially since the lady moved super quick, like less than 5 minutes and she was done! Not much tomorrow, just watching the Chiefs game.
@echo-charlietango do you usually not leave while the washer is running?
No, I do whatever I like It was just a vain attempt to multitask while a machine did chores. It worked out though. I napped while the washer washed, then let Jimmy John's take care of dinner after I moved the laundry
Ohhh. My MIL talks about not washing clothes while she’s gone because of fear about it breaking and flooding. So your comment made me wonder if many people do this and not just crazy her lol
@Jens_Hoes My Grandma is the same way about laundry ... she thinks she can’t leave the house. Which is mind baffling to me. She also only uses her dryer for sheets and towels. Lol!! I guess when you’re 81 and live alone what else do you do?! Hahaha!
Anecdote: my BFF from grad school’s entire house burned to the ground a couple years ago — MOTN and they had seconds to get out, she didn’t even grab her glasses — and I believe they linked it to a spark from the dryer running and a weird flaw in the house design that made everything go straight up.
YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED.
(PS I totally run both while I’m out. I also think it would be ideal if someone created a smart oven that you could control from your phone while out. I’m not the most safety-minded person in the world.)

Got super cute and much needed fall clothes at Motherhood Maternity today!! This FTM is super stoked to have some skinny jeans and sweaters to get me through the rest of this pregnancy!!
@countrygirl624 Yay for fall clothes! If only fall weather would get here...*taps foot*
Re: appliance fires @PensiveCrayon My SMIL is extra crazy about never leaving the dishwasher unattended. She claims to know several people whose homes burned because of dishwashers. She tried to instill that fear in me too, but it didn't really work - we prefer to run ours at night...and haven't had any evidence of the dishwasher turning on us.
1) Today I accidentally used all of my afternoon energy to take a shower, rub the lotion, and get dressed again. The irony is that I wanted to be clean just to grab a mocha, and now I'm too pooped. Nap time? 2) I was watching a lot of TED talks yesterday about pregnancy and babies, and right now I am fixated on my food choices affecting the taste of amniotic fluid. I am suddenly motivated to have zero repeat meals so that LO gets as many flavors in there as possible, I just don't know if I realistically have the energy for that. If nothing else, I am confident that this kid is going to be ALL ABOUT root beer and hummus.

@echo-charlietango take all the naps! If I knew then what I know now, I would have done less during my last pregnancy I am by no means saying just you wait because that is single handedly the most aggravating phrase in the world but enjoy the laziness you can have!
if there is anything that will revolt against us it is definitely the heating pad. My husband has been known to leave it on all day long on the floor while we’re not Home.
@Jens_Hoes I am so trying to take that advice to heart. I got coffee with 2 friends this morning who both have kids and when they suggested 9am I was like "don't you know I only have a few lazy weekend mornings left in my life?!?".
@echo-charlietango I'm pretty sure my baby is only going to want sour gummy worms and frozen fruit if that is the case.
@echo-charlietango That's a lot of pressure! I'm trying to eat like I usually do so the baby will like the foods we normally eat.
+1 for lack of energy/wanting to be lazy. I went for a swim this afternoon at my gym and then stopped by the library and grocery store. By the time the grocery trip was over I was so tired/out of it and felt very low blood-sugary. I just got home and had some oatmeal and am starting to feel normal again. I had planned to do some work this afternoon and I really need to do it, but I'm tired. Booo work. Yayyy naps!
Lol @morgantu it’s really not even the newborn haze period because there are way more people to come and help at that point. They turn into little dictators who have opinions and want to wake up certain times, and don’t let you nap when you’re tired! Lol
Add us to the car shoppers. I ended up liking a vehicle we drove yesterday much more than I anticipated and now am researching all the things about it.
This week also starts a week of just me with the kids. Here's hoping I accomplish something- besides the car research.
there are two motivations in sports, which is yours?
Turns out the baby either loves or hates Ethiopian food. We had an early dinner at our neighborhood Ethiopian spot's vegetarian buffet and LO is going nuuuuuuts. Let's hope it's a good thing!
