R/R/Q: DH got to feel baby kick a whole bunch this weekend. We were lying down in bed, I was trying to nap and he was on his laptop, and baby kept giving me some pretty good kicks in the same spot for at least 20 minutes, which has never happened. Usually DH gets to feel maybe 1-2 kicks if he sits there with his hand on my belly for a while, but this time he got to feel a whole bunch. I was afraid to move in case baby stopped! lol. But it was really awesome that he got to feel it so much! I started listening to The Birth Hour podcast and I'm loving it! Even got DH to listen to two of the with me on a long car trip this weekend. As a FTM it's been great to hear other women's birth stories and kind of mentally prepare myself for all the things that could happen during a birth, good and bad. I think it was good for DH to listen too. It made him realize how unprepared/uninformed he is, which hopefully he'll take as a cue to start educating himself a bit more.
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Apple picking and cooking fall food. (Apple pies, pumpkin pies, pumpkin seeds, stews, soups, all that good stuff!)
Insomnia, on/off constipation, sore tailbone, mild swelling in feet and ankles in the evenings....but otherwise pretty good!
No appointments until October.
Rant: DH has a man cold....guys, I think he's legit on his deathbed
Rave: I feel baby SO much now! I read that now baby can hear sounds outside the uterus and will recognize a familiar song once born if you play it while in utero, so DH and I are going to pick one to start playing baby.
I love everything about fall. Love doing the farm thing with the kids, love the crisp air, love the smell of people having backyard fires, love fall baking (mmmm pumpkin and pumpkin spice), love making comfort foods (my fav is a veal and squash stew....so good), love putting my fall decor and flowers out, and love Thansgiving and Halloween. And also, my birthday!

R/R/Q: This week my sciatica flared up big time and my leg was so numb last night that I put a post out on FB for chiro recommendations because I was desperate. A friend came through and I have an appointment with her chiro tomorrow. He specializes in pediatric and maternal chiro so I'm super hopeful he can help - and apparently he's pretty easy on the eyes too!
Also, DH FINALLY got down DS's baby stuff last night and I forgot just how insane the amount is of baby clothes that we have. I am now banned from buying anything new for this baby until he's at least in 9 mo clothing and I still have too much. It made me extremely thankful that we're having another boy!
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? visiting wineries and vineyards and going to fall festivals - all of which will be put on hold until next fall. Guess I'll be indulging in all things apple and pumpkin so I at least feel like its fall!
R/R/Q: we're heading back from our babymoon today and I'm actually happy. I've really missed our dogs. ALSO! We took our baby announcement photo at Glacier yesterday. My H has to edit it, but then we're announcing!
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Sit by the fire and watch movies because it always rains in the fall here. I really like to take pictures of the trees turning colors
Symptoms? Hip/Back pain like woah. I am going to try another prenatal massage to see if it helps. The first one didn't do much of anything. But I found out my copay is $15, so might as well give it another go. Also, I go from zero to starving in about 1/2 a second.
Upcoming appointments? 9/26
R/R/Q: Rant: The grocery story checker asked how much longer I had until baby. I said 3 months (it's more like 3 1/2...) and he was like wow, that long? While looking at my belly. Jerk. I've only gained about 10 lbs! Rave: We got our first baby shower gift in the mail! My shower is Nov 3rd and I'm getting excited to have my mom and sister fly in to host.
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Drinking scotch while doing jigsaw puzzles and listening to the rain. I miss scotch!
@galactickates What a perfect backdrop for an announcement photo!
@bradleysmommy28 I feel you on the pain. I hope we both get some relief soon!
@tosh24 I keep thinking I need to talk to the baby more! I mostly just pat my belly and say hi little guy, I hope you're doing good, haha.
@Ghostie625 I have never been apple picking but it seems fun! Maybe I'll try it this year. Yay activities without alcohol.
Symptoms? insomnia, peeing a lot, generally starting to feel large and like I'm running out of room in my torso
Upcoming appointments? standard prenatal on 9/26, not sure if this is the glucose screening or not? It's my 26 week check up...should probably figure that out...
R/R/Q: Rave: Found a Montessori daycare/school we love! Rant: It has an 18-24 month waitlist...whomp whomp
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Everything. Finally getting a break from the heat which means I can bust out boots and sweaters. Curling up with a blanket, book and cup of tea on the porch without getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. My birthday, football season, lots of wedding for friends this year and my baby shower. So much to love about fall makes me so happy
@Ghostie625 I love the birth hour podcast! Also a FTM here that finds it extremely informative for all kinds of labor/delivery/postpartum outcomes that may occur
Symptoms? mega heartburn back again, appetite is back too (of course for things that give me heartburn), restless leg syndrome at nights - been trying magnesium oil and lotion, hoping it helps soon
Upcoming appointments? Sono and checkup with my midwife on Friday AM. Will be scheduling the glucose test and some blood work for 26 weeks. JOY!
R/R/Q: Rave: Been feeling the baby squirming a lot more lately, and can even see my belly shift around when I get poked! I keep trying to get my wife to feel/look when it's happening, but it's still so sporadic and then of course when we go to directly look at my belly....nothing. Lil booger has some performance anxiety already. Looking forward to more movement and for my wife to see/feel!
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Wear comfy clothes, sleep with the windows open, drink hot cider and get apple cider donuts (been drooling about these for weeks!)
@galactickates I hope you share the photo with us too! Can't wait to see!

@rooonilwaazlib of course! It will probably be a day or two but I'll definitely share. It only took me until 24 weeks lol. I've just been to nervous to announce on social media even though all of our friends and family know.
Symptoms? Hip pain, restless leg syndrome at night but only when I wear pants (?)
Upcoming appointments? Not until Oct. 5
R/R/Q: My Dad is coming next week! I only get to see him once a year if I'm lucky. He lives overseas currently but is retiring next year so I will be able to see him more. I'm not sure what to do with him when he's here. It's still SO hot and he doesn't do well outside for long periods of time and plus also (rant) the red tide literally smells all the way to our house. It smells like death EVERYDAY now.
Question: is anybody else having a lot more Braxton Hicks now? I'm getting them like crazy everyday. When I get them I'm more conscience to drink water but that doesn't seem to be helping.
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? We have a local farm that does a huge pumpkin festival with craft fair. It takes about an hour to get there but it's so worth it!
Symptoms? I forget. Is forgetfulness a symptom?? General fatigue is setting in, and now the shortness of breath is becoming a thing.
Upcoming appointments? On Thursday! Regular checkup.
R/R/Q: Rave - the baby kicks me every single time I hiccup, which is often. I find this hilarious.
Rant - the second trimester energy bump was so short and over hyped!
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Visit fall fairs! Go crazy with collecting pumpkins for baking and seeds and all that good stuff!
Symptoms? Heartburn, crazy dreams, charlie horses in my calves, a little hip pain, peeing all the time, waddling when I walk
Upcoming appointments? Still trying to get this whole OB switch figured out.
R/R/Q: Rant: I’m still trying to get this whole OB debacle figured out. New OB confirmed with me that they got my medical records and now they can’t find them.
Rave: My director at work watched me do a lesson and she said I did great!
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Enjoy cooler weather. It’s been hovering around the mid 80’s lately but in mid to late October it usually gets down into the 70’s. I also love drinking hot tea, wearing leggings and boots, and breathing cleaner air. I’m looking forward to the first rain. It hasn’t rained here since May!
Symptoms? Peeing every hour at night, sciatica. Overall, doing really good though!
Upcoming appointments? I had my Glucose screening this week and passed (woo hoo!), got my TDap and other bloodwork to check on my anemia. My next appointment is October 2.
R/R/Q: Rave: The baby is so active right now and it's the sweetest feeling. Sometimes it's a little painful or annoying if I'm trying to sleep but I am trying to enjoy it before he gets bigger and causes more pain lol. Rant: My boss's wife had her baby this weekend (which I called it because she was like 3 weeks early but had her first early and the hurricane was coming in so drop in pressure and that's what sent me into labor the first time). Which of course I'm so happy mom and baby are doing good and healthy. But sometimes he is a bit of a micromanager and has been handling so many of my responsibilities for me (which I keep asking for more freedom) that now I'm having to kind of figure it out on my own...which I can do fine but if he had let me do my job in the first plac,e I wouldn't be in this situation. Question: *****When does everyone have to start going every two weeks for appointments? At my last appointment, the doctor said I needed to start coming every two weeks but it feels so early. I swear I was closer to 30-32 weeks last time I had to do that. I'm not high risk or anything like that so I am just confused.
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? I love the smell of fall! Warm comfort foods in the kitchen on the weekends and football on TV. We usually try to go to a college football game but will probably skip this year. I want to take DD to pick out a pumpkin this year! I would say I love getting to wear sweaters and leggings but in NC, we only get sporadic cool days in October and have to wait until almost November for real cold weather. Lol
Symptoms? My body is a furnace alllll day. Starting to get some fatigue when doing too much. Some swelling after being on my feet all day (thanks heat!). Carpal tunnel is getting worse but still nowhere near as bad as it was with DD1 at this point.
Upcoming appointments? Repeat a/s was yesterday and I have what appears to be a perfect 1lb 6oz healthy baby girl! So relieved. The four week wait in between scans was torture.
R/R/Q: Work has been killing me. We have no air conditioning and the heat and humitidy have been brutal. I actually went home one day because I thought I had a fever. Turns out the cold sweats were just from my environment. It's really taking a lot out of me. I have today off and decided to use my time to catch up on house work, school work, and the bump since I've been MIA for like two weeks!
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? EVERYTHING. Fall is my favorite. Apple picking, pumpkin picking, craft fairs, the rennaisance fair. If it is fall related, I am all in!

@emmaaa My OB Starts it at 28 weeks. So I'll go at 25, then 28, and then every two weeks until 36 when it goes to 1 week. Also I have a posterior placenta this time and MAN do I feel this baby girl like crazy. I do think she is more active than DD1 was but her movements are already so strong for such a tiny thing. DD1 never woke me up or hurt me so I'm nervous for what will happen this time
@sfgiantsgamerbabe Yay for a good observation! That always makes you feel good. Now that I'm tenured I don't get observed as much and I'm no longer priority at the beginning of the year. Which kind of stinks because I've always liked to get it over with!
@gorgeousariel I'm not having any yet but I had friends who started out with them in early second tri and they just continued that way until delivery.
@Ghostie625 I listen to soooo many podcasts but I've never tried any birth or parenting related ones. I should use those as the ones I listen to with DD in the car so I don't feel guilty when she's listening to scary stories about crime and paranormal things.

@emmaaa I have my glucose screen at 28 weeks and then start going every two weeks from there. That's the general guidance I've read too - every 4 weeks in second trimester and every 2 weeks in 3rd.
EDD? 1/5 Symptoms? All of the sudden my back and hip are really starting to bother me. I really need to be better about doing my stretches/yoga every night because this is awful. Upcoming appointments? I just had a checkup on Monday. My next appointment is the glucose screen in October. I'm already starting to get a litter nervous since my family does have a history of diabetes. R/R/Q: Rant: Work has been nonstop craziness for months now. In a meeting today somebody said something about how September is our slow time and I literally laughed out loud. I wish I had a slow month! GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? This is the first time in years that I don't have a fall actuarial exam so I'm honestly just excited to not be studying every weekend! My husband's birthday is in October and he loves the apple pie cake from Momofuku Milk Bar so I'm looking forward to goign apple picking and then baking one for him (even though it's like a 3 day process!)
@Ghostie625 That's awesome your husband was able to feel the baby kick so much. Mine is sulking around being jealous because baby's kicks usually aren't quite strong enough for him to feel and when they are, he's not nearby.
@tosh24 and @KLS123 I feel you on the insomnia. I had it before pregnancy, but it has gotten 10x worse since. I haven't had more than 4 hours of sleep, usually less, a night in the last five weeks.
@galactickates those pictures sound like they'd be amazing! And I understand the nerves involved with announcing! If it were up to me, I'd announce once the baby got here. As it is, we're keeping it off social media because my anxiety can't handle it, but friends and family now know.
@emmaaa my doctor said starting in the third trimester it will be every two weeks, so I'm assuming 28 weeks for me.
EDD?
Jan 5th
Symptoms?
Somehow everything hurts right now, but other than that, I'm doing pretty good!
Upcoming appointments?
Next week on the 26th! She'll go over the follow up A/S from a week and a half ago with me and confirm if baby has a VSD. If there is a hole, then I'll be sent to a MFM for more monitoring.
R/R/Q:
DH and I have been working on finishing our basement for the past three years (it's new construction and we've done the whole thing ourselves). We've finally got it painted and are putting up the suspended ceiling over the next couple of weekends. Then we move onto flooring, baseboards, trim, etc. We're getting so close and I'm super excited to finally be able to use our fireplace we put in!
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall?
I love sweater weather! Not a fan of the heat, over here. There's a pumpkin patch and corn maze close to us that I go to with my nieces each year, so I'm looking forward to that!
@emmaaa I have my next appointment at 26 weeks, then at 29 weeks, and every other week after that. I'm doing centering though, so I think it's based on the average due date of the group. I'm the caboose, so people are on average 2 weeks ahead of me.
EDD? I think the doctor settled on 1/8 but I'm pretty sure I'll go earlier than that so I'm going to stick with you guys Symptoms? insomnia, irritable, stinky gas that's even making me want to leave the room , I'm just so pleasant to be around these days
Upcoming appointments? cervix check Friday afternoon. It was right around this time with DD that they caught it shortening and I got put on bed rest. I feel like I'm just waiting around for it to happen again even though I have no actual reason to think it will.
R/R/Q: one of the aides in my classroom just announced she is pregnant and due in April! I'm hoping to be back from my leave before she goes out on hers.
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? I love bonfires and just hanging out outside as it cools off in the evenings. The sunsets in October are amazing. I also love wearing boots and sweatshirts (although I don't know if I'll be comfortable in either while pregnant).
@alexandraseattle do you like the centering program with your doc? Ours had it too but the meetings conflicted with our schedule so we couldn't do it. I was very interested in it though.
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone) IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear! IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019
Symptoms? Heartburn every night around 9pm. I've been taking Zantac and it seems to mostly do the trick. I've been sleeping okay but I'm always waking up on my back. My OB said not to worry about it but that is easier said than done. Lots of movement which is always so reassuring.
Upcoming appointments? 2 weeks
R/R/Q: It is our wedding anniversary! I'm excited for dinner out tonight and dessert and trying to not miss the champagne too much. Welch's makes a sparkling 'rose' grape juice, has anyone tried it? It has less sugar than their normal sparkling grape juice so I have high hopes that it won't be too sweet. Before I was pregnant I used to always see the Fre brand non alcoholic sparkling 'wine' but no one around here carries it anymore.
Q: Does anyone have any good suggestions for gifts for the women hosting my showers? I did umbrellas for my wedding showers but I'd like something different this time around.
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? I love fall scents, fall foods, and pretty leaves! I know some people hate it but I love candy corn and peanuts mixed together. I have a plan to (hopefully) celebrate passing my glucose test by making a batch.
Upcoming Appointments? Midwife appointment yesterday morning, next one in 4 weeks (which is when I’ll do the 1-hour GD test)
R/R/Q: Realized I’ve been super procrastinating with this pregnancy and now find the best birthing class with spots still available is every Sunday 10-noon. For three months. I go to church, which is only Sunday 11-noon. So, it feels like an impossible choice
GTKY: I love EVERYTHING about fall. Apple picking, PSL, give me all the basic events. We also usually do a day trip up to Kennet Square and Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania (highly recommended if you’re near it) and it never disappoints.
@galactickates ah your announcement is adorable! I love it.
@Kabazaba ah no!! That is a really difficult choice. I’m interested in why it’s three months long. That seems crazy!
@lacroixliz happy anniversary!! I hope dinner is great and you get some good sparkling wine. I’ve never really had any other than the typical sweet stuff.
@rooonilwaazlib I LOVE Centering. I was initially hesitant to sign up, because it's with a male OB and the appointments start at 7:30am. DH and I are NOT morning people. But it has been amazing and I'm so happy we are doing it. I really like the community aspect of it. We don’t have local friends in the area with children so it’s really nice to start building that support network before the baby comes.
@alexandraseattle good to know! A community is absolutely important, especially when you don't have a big network of friends with kids yourself. Glad you're enjoying it!I hope to give it a go next time around (if there is a next time) and if the meetings don't conflict with our schedules.

Sparkling grape juice update: Welch's Rose is pretty good! Still too sweet for my taste but it was perfect mixed 50/50 with LaCroix. Drink it out of a champagne glass and you can almost pretend it's the real thing. It'll be great for baby showers since it is a pretty pink.
Re: Weekly Ticker Change: EDD January 1 - 7 (W/O 9/17)

GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall? Wear comfy clothes, sleep with the windows open, drink hot cider and get apple cider donuts (been drooling about these for weeks!)
@galactickates I hope you share the photo with us too! Can't wait to see!
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)
IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN
HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear!
IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019
Jan 2nd
Symptoms?
I forget. Is forgetfulness a symptom??
General fatigue is setting in, and now the shortness of breath is becoming a thing.
Upcoming appointments?
On Thursday! Regular checkup.
R/R/Q:
Rave - the baby kicks me every single time I hiccup, which is often.
12/28/18
Symptoms?
Heartburn, crazy dreams, charlie horses in my calves, a little hip pain, peeing all the time, waddling when I walk
Upcoming appointments?
Still trying to get this whole OB switch figured out.
R/R/Q:
Rant: I’m still trying to get this whole OB debacle figured out.
R/R/Q:
Rave: The baby is so active right now and it's the sweetest feeling.

@rooonilwaazlib FX for friday!
@Ghostie625 I listen to soooo many podcasts but I've never tried any birth or parenting related ones. I should use those as the ones I listen to with DD in the car so I don't feel guilty when she's listening to scary stories about crime and paranormal things.

EDD?
1/5
Symptoms?
All of the sudden my back and hip are really starting to bother me. I really need to be better about doing my stretches/yoga every night because this is awful.
Upcoming appointments?
I just had a checkup on Monday. My next appointment is the glucose screen in October. I'm already starting to get a litter nervous since my family does have a history of diabetes.
R/R/Q:
Rant: Work has been nonstop craziness for months now.

R/R/Q:
GTKY: Fall officially starts on Saturday! What is your favorite thing to do in the fall?
Symptoms? insomnia, irritable, stinky gas that's even making me want to leave the room
DD- 11/2016

EDD for #2 1/28/2021
@galactickates - How did you like Yellowstone? Can’t wait to see your announcement pic!
@bitterbetty12 - YAY for the good ultrasound!!
EDD? 1/6
Symptoms? Heartburn, hip pain, crying nonstop
@Kabazaba ah no!! That is a really difficult choice. I’m interested in why it’s three months long. That seems crazy!
@lacroixliz happy anniversary!! I hope dinner is great and you get some good sparkling wine. I’ve never really had any other than the typical sweet stuff.
@jandd2014 FX for the check on Friday!
