I'm really kicking myself...(maybe a TW? I'm not sure)

Hey so...
Last night I decided I'd like to have some sex with my fiance for the first time since we conceived, basically. Everything was great, felt fine afterward (no cramping or anything) and now this morning I'm having some mild cramps and when I wipe, there is some old blood/spotting. It's not fresh or concerning looking but due to my previous miscarriages I'm freaking out a little.

I'm also really mad at myself for having sex. I mean, I feel like I should have waited until I got past my first trimester. I know that sounds ridiculous, and I'm hoping that I'm overreacting but I'm kind of scared. Anyone have any words of wisdom? Or can anyone come to Utah to slap me out of this? Either/or....

  • I can totally understand the panic, but I wouldn't jump to complete pelvic rest for the whole first tri necessarily unless your doc says so? Idk. Cervixes are weird. I guess maybe hold off until you talk to doc?

  • My cervix is always super temperamental and I can spot for almost no reason. I wouldn’t worry about it

  • What @poshspice said. PGAL brain sucks, but spotting and cramping is pretty normal in early pregnancy. Sex is also very normal. Try not to worry! If you want some real assurance, call your doctor. Mine always says that there is no silly reason to call.

  • sorry to ask this here but what does PGAL stand for? I looked it up on the definitions page but its not there either>?
  • @cikcikpolicnik it stands for Pregnant After a Loss (:
  • @keighty80 Girl, you're good!  I'm sure it just cause some slight rupturing of capillaries or something.  There is so much blood being pumped down there that anything could cause bleeding.  I literally spotted every few days my last pregnancy until I gave birth.  Spotting doesn't always mean the worst.

Regardless, it looks like it's gone away, which makes me so happy.  I have my FX for you and wish you the best.
  • @keighty80 if it makes you feel any better, I remember hearing sex early in pregnancy was safe from my first pregnancy, but I still googled it before having sex this morning because I was worried about it too. PGAL brain does indeed suck. Hope all turns out ok! Hugs to you!

Not to make light of PGAL brain at all, but I am slightly amused at you googling before giving the green light on DTD

  • @sleepy33 I google waaay too much haha Its kind of funny, but I was thinking that I’ve been holding out since Sunday from worrying about having sex, and I’ve been such an emotional wreck all week, that I was like lemme just google to reassure myself! He was still pressing snooze, so he never know.  :D
