Amniotic separation

Hi,

Apologies for starting a new thread but this does not really fit into the other categories of pregnancy conditions or symptoms and I wanted to ask if anyone had experience with this specifically.

I am 21 weeks 3 days and have been told sometime in the past month or so I developed a sch (subchorionic hematoma) and partial amniotic separation resulting from it. Last month by routine OB I see told me I need to try to adhere to pelvic rest and no heavy exercise. She also told me there's a slight risk for premature labor. A second OB I went to for a detailed ultrasound brushed it off, saying it was only partial and that it's nothing to worry about. He didn't even bother mentioning it when he saw it on the screen. It was still there, however, and has not healed. So, two doctors are saying different things.

I know what a sch is and I read it's common especially in early pregnancy, but I'm more so concerned about having it at this time in the pregnancy as well as the amniotic separation. I'm American living abroad for a temporary research position and plan on returning to the U.S. for the third tri and birth, so I'm wondering when to plan my travel with this all in mind.

Has anyone had experience with this later in pregnancy or know anyone who has?

Thanks!

I am on modified bed rest and progesterone for what I think might be the same thing? They called mine a partial abruption, but essentially the placenta started pulling away from the uterus, with bleeding behind it and a tear in the placenta letting it bleed inside the uterus (with spotting, etc). They told me there was a 50% chance it would reattach, and a 50% chance it would get worse.

Are they planning regular scans to follow up? I'd probably make the travel decision after seeing if it improves or worsens after the next scan.

  • @LauraK33 I hope the placenta re-attaches and proceed with a smooth and easy pregnancy!

My issue is not with the placenta but just in the sac itself and there's a line that shows on the screen. It has not improved as much as just moved from my pelvic area to the top of my sac. I think the two amniotic membranes are just separated in that location.
So, basically, the doctors expect it won't do anything and it might even heal, but I have checked on it 3 times so far with not much change besides location. Thankfully, no bleeding.
I was put on progesterone as well but to stop contractions I have been having. The suppositories made me break out in a very bad rash so not sure whether to keep taking them...
