*TW*--Threatened Miscarriage, positive outcome so far

Looking for similar stories and insight-- This is my fourth pregnancy, with one being an early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy, the other two were healthy full-term where I had my DD and DS (ages 4 and 2). Now I'm 7w1d and had some slight spotting over the weekend that turned a little heavier/darker yesterday and today. I'm not filling up pads, but it's fairly significant when I wipe. I called my OB today and she recommended that I go to the ER. I spent most of the day today in the ER getting tests and ultrasounds (and they don't tell you ANYTHING until the very end after many, many hours of waiting). Thankfully they saw a baby in the right place with 120 bpm. My bloodwork came back normal, although my hcg is about 5600 which seemed low to me compared to my last pregnancies, but I've been told multiple times that it's within the normal range.  The baby measured 6w4d, which is a little behind my own numbers, but again was told it's normal. My cervix is closed and they saw no reason for bleeding. I wanted to share because I never had any bleeding with my other two kids, so I wanted to reassure anyone going through the same thing that bleeding doesn't necessarily always mean miscarriage. Also I wanted to see if anyone else had similar stories. All my levels being slightly low (to me) makes me worried, but I do believe I got the best possible news today after being extremely scared, sad, and worried. I'm hoping and praying this baby keeps growing! Positive vibes are appreciated, thanks :)

  • Bless you for posting this! This is my first pregnancy and I started spotting on Friday/Saturday and was terrified all weekend. It has gone away now but it’s such a concerning sight.
  • This is my fourth baby and I’m 8 weeks 5 days. I had bright red bleeding on Saturday. They brought me in for an ultrasound that night and everything looked great (strong heartbeat) and no explanation as to why I was bleeding and my cervix is closed. It stopped as quickly as it started. I also had bright red bleeding with my firstborn at 6 weeks and he turned out perfectly healthy. Yes, it’s very scary but often everything turns out just fine.
  • I bled with my first and will likely with this one as well. On the ultrasound there were a few blood clots visible ( which my dr said is common) so it’s likely I will have bleeding again. The ER just gave me a Rhogam shot and sent me on my way.
Ugh the ER dr they gave me with my first was so smoking hot and while doing the vaginal exam he mentioned I might have a yeast infection. I about died. Didn’t end up having one but I’m still mortified that this super sexy dr was all up in my business and probably thought I was having issues.

@harveyisaboysname Lol! Thanks for making me laugh today! I needed it. Good thing motherhood/pregnancy/birth forces modesty out the window.
  • I only spotted with spotted a little with my first. Apparently it’s actually a side effect of internal ultrasounds. FYI.
  • This is my 9th pregnancy (3 living, 1 chemical, 3 m/c.)  With this one I had a huge bright red bleed at around 4 weeks.  I went in and just the sac was seen-no explanation for the bleeding.  Two weeks later at about 6 weeks I had a HUGE gush of bright red blood after pushing my 2 year old uphill in a stroller.  I went in a couple days later and found out I had a SCH (blood clot in the uterus.)  It was pretty big.  But we were able to see baby with a strong heartbeat and my cervix was closed.  My doctor upped my progesterone suppositories and I was on bed rest for the next month, constantly bleeding various colors of blood with some breaks.  Two days ago I had another big bleed with dark red blood after taking a child to an activity and carrying a few groceries home.  I thought I had lost it with all the cramping and blood.  I am now 10 weeks and went in today and...baby was still there with a heartbeat and on track kicking around.  And the blood clot has shrunk quite a bit.  So, a SCH many not be your issue, but in case it does show up later I am still hanging in there so I hope you do too. Also, I had "breakthrough bleeding" with one of my pregnancies when my period would have been due.  I think bleeding just happens, but I know how terrifying it can be!  I hope you find answers and it goes away soon :)

  • I had an ultrasound on Tuesday and baby measured at 8w0d. All looked great! Suddenly on Friday I started bleeding. At times it seemed heavier (like a period) and then it would be less. They had me go to the hospital and have an ultrasound right away, and baby still looked great-measuring at 8w3d with a heart rate of 172. Besides that- no info. They basically said go back to life as normal. That’s so hard to do; I feel so nervous!
  • I have a similar story to everyone in this thread as well. This is my first pregnancy and I had what I thought was pretty heavy bleeding similar to period bleeding on Saturday. Went straight to the ER. Took forever to get admitted because they kept having people come in that were a higher priority. They did a bunch of tests and an ultrasound and said everything looks fine. They even said I am a few days ahead of my expected timeline. The bleeding has stopped but I'm still worried that it will start again. I see my Dr on Wednesday so hopefully everything still looks good and they can figure out why I was bleeding. Just trying to not do anything that might cause more bleeding and keep my mind busy so I don't stress out too much.
  • @nalyshad I see my doctor Wednesday too for a follow up since my ER visit. I’ll be sending you positive vibes that day. ❤️ I’ve seen/heard from a ton of people who had bleeding in their first trimester so I’m trying to stay as positive as possible.

I responded to this previously, but I wanted to follow up today. Today I had a gush of red blood after just sitting at work all day. I was terrified, called my closed Dr’s office, their after hours, who transferred my call to the women’s clinic, who then transferred the call to the ER. they were all less than helpful and basically like eh just up to you if you want to go to the ER. We ended up going and had ultrasounds and blood work. For today, all is fine and there was even a heartbeat (6 weeks 5 days). They couldn’t see any signs of a MC happening but of course it’s always a concern. They have no idea why I’m bleeding, but I couldn’t have had any better news and I’m hanging on to that! ❤️
  • *TW*... I had my follow up appointment today a week after my ER visit. I've been continuously spotting for over a week, but it had gotten more red in the past few days. Still no cramping or heaviness. But I just had such a horrible feeling before going in today. They got me back to the ultrasound machine very quickly and also quickly told me there was no heartbeat :( The baby measured 7w1d where I should have been 8w2d. Of course we were devastated but at least it wasn't a total shock since I have been trying to prepare myself for this since I first noticed the spotting. I hate to post sad news because I know all the positive stories were what kept me going while I was dealing with spotting and not knowing what was going on, but also wanted to give a full story of my experience. I opted to get a D&C at my dr's office tomorrow and am pretty nervous about that, but I'm also ready to move on. Best of luck to everyone! *TW*

Best advice I can give is to take all the time you need to grieve, talk about it or don't, whatever helps for you, but don't ever feel bad for taking the time you need. Sending positive & healing thoughts your way.

  • @mamalimeh so sorry for your loss  <3
  • @mamalimeh There are no words to make things better, but I’m so sorry. Sending lots of hugs your way.
  • @mamalimeh I am so sorry to hear this! I was hoping to hear everything was going well. I hope you are doing okay! I almost feel bad to share my good news.

I had my own follow up Dr appointment today and it went really well. She found a bruise between the placenta and the wall of my uterus. She said that this should go away on its own and I should go on to have a normal pregnancy. But she did schedule me in for next week just to make sure it gets smaller and not bigger. She said baby is looking great and we got to hear the heartbeat and we even saw little limbs! Feeling pretty relieved and excited today!
  • @nalyshad, don't feel bad at all! I was checking and hoping you had good news. I'm really happy your story ended up like this. It just goes to show that every situation is so different. Have so much fun with the months (and years!) ahead :)
  • @mamalimeh thank you for sharing.  Reading about how proud you are of your body definitely made me tear up.  I'm so happy you are able to have that sort of outlook and seem to be in a good place following what you've been through.
