VBAC, VBA2C etc

Any ladies here going for a vbac or vba2c or more ?

Re: VBAC, VBA2C etc

  • I’d love to try a vba2c. My first labor was suuuuuper easy until I got stuck at 9cm for 8 hours. My baby never dropped and they kept upping my pitocin and epidural and giving me nausea meds until I was incoherent. I couldn’t communicate with anyone. Not even my newborn baby. We ended in c section since I was approaching 24 hours from my water breaking and no progress was being made. I got pregnant 8 months after that birth and basically was so scared to have another so soon and worried that I would rupture that I fearfully scheduled my second. I will be ok if I have to have a 3rd but I am really going to advocate for a vba2c. My MIL had a successful vbac after my husband was a c section so it gives me hope. My second baby was almost 2lbs and 1.25” smaller as well so I kept looking back thinking I probably could have birthed her vaginally. Now I’m trying to decide if going med-free will give me the best chance for success. I’m not very good with extended pain.

  • I'm going for a VBAC at home with a midwife group. DD was breech and they didn't give me much options and I was a bit unprepared research wise so I'm going the avoid hospitals at all costs route.

  • I'm still up in the air. I briefly discussed it with my doctor, who is on board with a VBAC if I go earlier than 39 weeks. So I'm assuming the plan will be to schedule a section after 39 weeks with hopes that I go into labor on my own. I'm not going to stress too much about it. The baby will get here one way or another. Part of me wants to just schedule the c-section and be done with it.
  • My first was a scheduled c-section because DS was large. At my first appointment this time, the doctor said women who make big babies tend to keep making big babies, so she’s suggesting a repeat this time (and she’s not trigger happy with c-sections, she actually tried to discourage me from scheduling it last time).

I’m not upset about having a c-section, but I’m a little sad about never going through labor. I already have a kid and I have no clue what a contraction feels like (I never even had BH). So my plan is to schedule it for as late as I can and hope bub comes on his/her own earlier than the schedule.
  • I'd like to try VBAC.  Mine was an emergency c-section at 30 weeks obviously not what I envisioned.  But also, having had that experience, I know that my "birth plan" is nothing more than a wish list in a perfectly ideal world and a healthy baby is all I want in the end.

Has anyone experienced both a c-section and vaginal birth? I’d love to get their opinion on which they preferred. My first labor was a bit traumatic. I was being induced and when my OB broke my water the umbilical cord came out (this can be dangerous if the baby’s head is laying against it as it’ll cut off their oxygen supply) so I was immediately taken for a c-section. The only problem was I was at a super small hospital and the anesthesiologist was not available so my doctor cut me open with only Novocain. Needless to say it hurt a lot.
I’m sure this time will be cake compared to the last. But my (new) doctor is giving me the choice of doing a repeat c-section or vbac. I would love to know someone who has done both to get their opinion: which hurt more? Which was easier to recover from? Etc.
  • I had a E c-section last time. This time I will probably not be allowed to attempt a VBAC per my GI doc and my colorectal surgeon due to Crohn’s disease. I’m bummed because im not looking forward to recovery with a toddler. But I also don’t want to end up with exacerbated crohn’s symptoms either.

  • I'm planning to attempt a VBAC. I went 42 weeks last time, was induced, and after 48 hours of barely any progress, had a c-section. I've done a lot of reading the last almost 2 years since I had my daughter, and feel confident that if I can go into labor on my own, I can do it.

I just read this article, I thought it was pretty informational. The author had a Csection for her 1st and then vbac for her second birth. Encourages me to try vbac this time around.

  • I had a csection with my first and vbac second. Vaginal was a way better experience for me. I loved nursing and holding my baby right away. I did have an epidural. Hoping for vbac #2 this time.
