Bed Rest Thread

Anyone else facing bed rest? I thought it might be nice to start a place for us all to connect. I've been participating in the December bed rest thread since my little one is likely going to arrive early, but more is more when it comes to bed rest support!

STM with a randomly shortening cervix. I had no issues with my previous pregnancy and had a long induction because my cervix refused to progress. Well, looks like my cervix is early to the party this time. I had a cerclage done Friday and am likely on bed rest until December. I had 2 weeks of modified activity and now am on 2 weeks of full bed rest until my next appointment. Anyone else?

Re: Bed Rest Thread

  • Best wishes to you @parentingishard, you got this!!  I'm praying I won't be joining you but just wanted to let you know I've been there (2 wks of full on hospital bed rest prior to DS being born) so please let me know if you need anything or have questions!

    Bed rest here as well! 5th baby with a partial placental abruption and polyhydraminos. Here's to a few long months and hoping babies stay put!

  • I'm sorry you are both dealing with bed rest @parentingishard and @LauraK33! If you don't mind me asking - what symptoms led you to head to the doctor and then get put on bed rest? FTM here and have no idea what I should look out for.

  • Bedrest is so hard!  Feel for you ladies.  I was on bedrest at home for a week with DD1 and I nearly went crazy.  I can't imagine being on it for months.  Good luck and I hope time passes quickly for you!!
  • I’m not on bed rest officially but my doctor is kicking it around. If we can’t get my blood pressure under control in the next two weeks or so, it is a strong possibility for me.

  • @alexandraseattle I went for my level II ultrasound/anatomy scan and they found my cervix was short. Measuring the cervix is standard during that ultrasound but your tech may not even mention it if there's no issue. I had no symptoms and feel completely fine, minus the pain from the cerclage now, but generally I feel like my normal pregnant self which makes bed rest even harder.

    @snackheart I hope you don't join us!!
  • @alexandraseattle I had pretty intense pain starting around week 15, which Drs wrote off as stretching, and had been spotting for weeks (the pain is much different from previous pregnancies...the spotting is normal for me). Finally after measuring in at 29 weeks by fundal height at 19 weeks they pushed up the ultrasound and saw everything. Both the abruption and extremely large pockets of fluid were super obvious on the scan.

  • @parentingishard @LauraK33 Thank you both so much for sharing! I hope that bed rest goes by quickly for both of you! Have you gone down any fun YouTube video rabbit holes yet? I pass the time with YouTube. I really like Kitty Cotten's channel and leighannsays.
  • I'm so sorry you ladies are already dealing with bed rest! I was on bed rest with DD from 25 weeks on (for shortening cervix), so I totally understand how you're feeling. (Though I didn't have any other kids to care for!) It helped that my mom brought me breakfast before work everyday, and I had my dogs around at home to keep me company. But otherwise, it was pretty lonely. Thinking about you! Hang in there!
